Early Season PA Steelhead (2024) (Shore Fishing)
Welcome back and thank you for clicking on the video! If you’re new here welcome and I hope you enjoy the content!
This season we have been facing some tough conditions so far with not having any rain in the forecast and very low and clear creek levels. There are some fish in the streams but with the insane pressure they are highly spooked. We started off fishing the creek at sunrise and only had a couple bites but no hook ups. The guys that were shore fishing into the lake were having success so we made our way over to check it out. A couple of my friends were drifting egg sacks through the outflow into the lake and landing several fish. Not wanting to intrude I stood to the side and patiently waited my turn. After a while they left and I stepped in. Of course the wind started to pick up and make waves on the last which make it tough to get a good drift through the current. These fish were schooled up and riding the waves into the creek mouth. Although it was tough I landed a couple fish and had a few other missed opportunities. A solid start to the season but Mother Nature needs to send rain our way! Thanks for watching and I hope you stick around for more content coming soon!

Lake Erie Perch (Deep Water) (PA Limit)

I finally made it back out on the boat and went to capitalize on this school of yellow perch! The long trip to the deep shelf these fish were sitting on didn’t disappoint. I caught my limit (30) in about an hour and a half using the Garmin Livescope to stay on top of these fish. My baits used in this video were a “Sabiki” rig tipped with golden shiners as well as French Creek Fishing Company pl...

Great vid….somebody buy that man a net for Christmas 😊
Haha I have a net but it has a deep hoop, ideally I’d like a shallow hoop for these jumbos! Santa needs to come through!!
Why not solely use the 36 volt trolling motor? I use only my 24 volt terrova on my Lund 1650, never had any problems keeping my speed up. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Saves a lot on gas.
There’s nothing wrong with doing that at all, the reason I do it is because the crazy current we get here in Lake Erie. My electric motor isn’t on max speed the whole time I’m fishing. Another reason is it helps me with my turning when I’m running all these rods. I always have a constant push and I can slow down the terrova and fine tune my turns without creating slack in my lines causing tangles. Untangling downriggers it’s fun or cheap haha. Thank for the comment!
@@tightlinefinatic3980 Thanks for the quick response! I fish out of Walnut and East Ave. ramps, I'm new to lake fishing and like seeing other ways of trolling. It was a good year for walleye, looking forward to next year!
It’s was a great year for walleye but don’t give up yet! There’s still big ones closer to shore than you think 🤫 I’m really hoping we get I’ve this year so I can target the walleye!
All the fish are snagged out! I was up this last weekend. Man do you guys need rain! Good luck on your hunts.
I’m not going to name people but they are snagging these fish and taking them by the dozens! 60% chance of rain all morning tomorrow so let’s hope!!
@ I know what your sayin, but I’m not going there. We saw it first hand on Elk Friday, someone was viewed on Cam4 at uncle John’s and the game warden was there watching. Then again on 16 Saturday a big group, just taking every fish out. My buddy caught a 21” brown, released it the day before, revived it proper for a clean release. Yeah it was on a stringer 24hrs later. The conditions were tough, but you could still catch fish. The clear water just helps those type of fishermen take every fish out. I hope next year has the flows needed, but we are going to try later winter or a spring trip.
@StormRidersFishing 16 has been really bad for snaggers that last few years, they need an undercover walking that creek everyday it’s that ridiculous. There was another UA-camr than posted a video with clear evidence of them doing it. It’s ridiculous and ruining the fishery for the other who arnt “making a profit from the fish”. We need more officers up here during this time of year, imagine the revenue lol If we get this rain in the am I’ll be skipping the woods for sure!
PA came through yesterday!!!
Amen to that!!!
Great post. Voted first thing this morning. Though I would much rather watch your steelhead videos. My son and I were up two weekends ago. Was worst I ever seen. Hope the area gets rain soon!!
Yeah, the creeks literally have no flow at all. It is completely bone dry and these fish are suffering. I would fish but I don’t wanna stress them even more. I do have a video that needs edited from a few weeks ago that will be up soon! I’ve just been in the woods crazy and haven’t made time. Thanks for the support more content to come!!
Nice!!!!
Appreciate it! We need more rain!!!
@tightlinefinatic3980 yes. Looks like a little maybe on Wednesday. My done and I are coming up this Friday through Monday and then the following weekend. The following weekend looks like it may be better with some rain mid week.
My son is meant
If it actually forms into rain that would be great! I’ve been spending more time in the woods than fishing just because of the conditions. Good luck when you come up there’s some giants swimming!
@tightlinefinatic3980 That's what we have been doing too. We were gonna come up last weekend but didn't due o low water then Sunday was a blowout .
Nice!
Thanks! It's a tough time of year to not be fishing!!
Amped Outdoors 42A lasts all day and part of the next
I’m actually going to go with the 52 just because I will be putting these into a HD Innovations bundle and using it for ice season and I want it to last all day. I’ve heard great things about amped batteries. Thanks for the comment!
@@tightlinefinatic3980 I was wrong mine is a 48A in a Summit Shuttle and they don’t make that size anymore they replaced it with the 52A 👍
The recommendation for a 12” screen and a lvs34 is a 52ah so I believe that’s what I’ll be going with just got the power and run time for those long days on the ice or in the boat. What pole do you use with your shuttle?
@@tightlinefinatic3980 I have the Summit Shuttle and pole. The guy that designed the Summit Shuttle left there and started HD they’re both awesome shuttles 👍
Yes I emailed him and was chatting about it. Really like the designed and the mounts on the back for a GoPro arm and such. But I agree both are worth every penny
Thanks for sharing bro and good luck hunting and fishing my friend 🍀 ☘️ 🍀
Thanks buddy! Thanks for following the videos I appreciate you 👍🏻
Heard your phone ringing lol. Boss was probably calling wanting you to come in the rest of the day on your day off. Lol... Nice video and looks like a fun day.
lol I had the day off, that was my boss at home wondering how the fishing was 😆
I’ll be up the 24th to the 26th to guide clients I hope the creeks are good
Nice good luck!
Clarity of the video sucks
Yeah I’m aware it was brought to my attention. I updated my editing software and it’s messed everything up. Thanks for letting me know
Nice video brother!!!
Appreciate it dude! Wish you could have stayed and caught some fish! We’ll get out again soon 👊🏻
@@tightlinefinatic3980 work sucks!! 😂
@@CastingNBlasting Amen to that, my plan is to fish one day as a job 🤘🏻
Where ya at ? I live about 30 min away been trying to get into steelhead! Love your videos
After the rain we got last night and the rain throughout the day today there should be serval creeks with good fish moving up into them. Key is to try and find spots with less people. If there’s a crowd of people on a small spot and the waters low those fish will be spooked. When the water is up and a little murky the fishing is mint! Good luck let me know if you have any other questions! Tight lines 🤘🏻
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to getting up there and hitting the tribs. Glad you got a good shot of rain!
Trust me we’re all glad! Haha More rain coming tomorrow so let’s hope!
The sky looks awesome !
Absolutely! It was a gorgeous day!
Can't go wrong with a day like that it was beautiful and rods where on fire. Absolutely priceless when you get to have the kid out and a have him excited like that. He just wanted to keep one . I get it though there are a lot of small ones on the lake on the Canadian side but we did get some nice slugs as well but on average the last couple years we had our fair share of those size fish you're catching as well on the same type setups. However we still are getting larger ones as well. And I hear you with the heat and not much wind because you got to contend with all the bugs. And we don't have slot size up there so it's 6 a limit. Nonetheless I really enjoyed the video 👌👍
When the migratory fish show up it’s usually the small ones first so that’s what we were stuck catching haha A few weeks after we did start getting into some really nice fish 24”+. But the bugs! They are terrible and I think they know what you’re sweating and getting united haha. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the comment!
I don't understand the idea of trolling off both the kicker and the bow mount. Can you discuss that a little?
So when I use both motors I’m pushing right 75% of the speed with the rest motor which gives me the force behind me to keep me going. If I were to only use the front motor the big waves would stall me in my tracks. But I use the Minn Kota for the other 25% of the pulling power. Using the bow mount helps me have better control when keeping to. A straight line and especially when in turning. I have the handheld remote so there isn’t someone constantly manning the motor and that intern gives more hands to help on deck. All in all it’s more efficient and gives me way better boats control especially in rough water using both motors. Thank for the comment anymore questions ask away!
Did you guys get any rain Saturday or or Sunday because I had got a notice on my phone that said it was supposed to rain I think it was Sunday. Just checking because my brother and I are coming up on October 27 and we’re staying until Wednesday the 30th up on elk Creek at Foley run campground. we are rookies at this. This is our first trip up and our first trip steelhead fishing so any suggestions? Will be greatly appreciated. I have been watching your videos for a while now and I like what I see we are going to be using spinning rods, and reels this trip. Thank you very much, Tim.
Unfortunately no we haven’t gotten any rain.. we had a shower roll through the other day but it didn’t amount to anything at all.. for the fish that are around in the creeks near the lake they are being caught on egg sacks, nightcrawlers, skein, single cured eggs, minnows. The fly fisherman’s are using little nymphs and are catching some as well. The mouth of Walnut Creek has been doing well with some giant fish being caught. There’s been a few in the 11-15lb range caught at the mouth of Walnut Creek near the marina. I would said natural baits and light line (6lb) and if you using a float I’d suggest small foam floats. Always in the early morning guy are laughing spoons into the lake and catching fish. Good luck and I hope this helps! I appreciate you following along with my adventures, plenty more to come!
@@tightlinefinatic3980 I want to thank you for the information tight line fanatic. I do appreciate it and who knows maybe will bump into you up there. I know you’re from that area so who knows maybe we’ll see you. That would be awesome. Thanks again.

Which ramp did you launch from? Nice perch!
I launched from Shades Beach boat ramp
Lake Erie! I’m close! Also I didn’t know there are rainbow trout here!
Yep! Every fall the steelhead run the creeks, if you haven’t tried it it’s a must on the bucket list!
What kind of plastics are you using?
Link is in the description, French Creek Fishing Company is the brand and the bait is called a “Pin worm”. In my opinion the best for a drop shot rig for panfish. Use code “FINatic 20” on the website for 20% off
