    I felt that *sniff sniff* oof. Nothing like sulfur rich tranny fluid to wake you up in the morning. One thing, though. Put some gloves on big dog. Those fluids are awful to touch with bare skin. some serious carcinogens in those bad boys.

  • @leviwilbert9588
    @leviwilbert9588 26 днів тому

    I did the tranny fluid on my bmw just recently, basically the same process. I got my '20 Subaru Impreza just recently, and while it has a good maintenance history one thing that hasn't been done at 73k miles is the tranny fluid. Seeing this, it's good to see the process is basically the same. I do believe for the second fill, it needs to be up to temp and running. I know typically you're supposed to read the temp w/ an ODB reader. I do have one, unfortunately for my bimmer it wasn't enough to show the temp, so I went off of time (most people said it took around 15 mins or so to heat up), touch (around 95-120F is like a hot tub temp, maybe a little hotter), and I also used a laser temp gun as well. Between those three, I'm fairly confident I got the fill right it despite not being able to read the OBD scanner temp. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do ::shrug::. Saving money doing it yourself can help cut down costs of car maintenance. When you take a car in for every little repair, it's no wonder you end up paying a lot of money. Taking it in for a tranny flush for $200-300 may not seem much, but then you do that, you do some other maintenance items, and suddenly you get hit with something major (like an unexpected failure) and you have to take it into a shop, suddenly it feels a lot more expensive cuz you've already spent so much! However, it's not as bad when you can knock out a lot of the smaller projects yourself (even some of the bigger projects), then when you take it in, it may be a lot, but it's a rare time so its not as bad. For all the above reasons, and knowing a bit more about your car and the work done to it, I recommend people do more of than throwing money at garages.

      Unfortunately I believe the answer is no although I have not done one. The transmission can be dropped out the bottom without removing engine that would be your best option.

    @beltrunner Місяць тому

    You didn't do your homework before attempting this CVT procedure. It is wise to loosen the fill plug before draining the fluid from the pan, but the actual fluid drain should be from the pan plug only. That way it is not messy, and you can measure how much fluid comes out. The engine has to be running when you do the final fill procedure. The amount of fluid that poured out when you first removed the fill plug with the engine off is the amount of fluid that you are now short on. If you had measured the amount of fluid that drained out you would find that you put much less back in the way you did the final fill procedure. You had better get the engine up to the proper temperature and then add fluid with the engine running until it dribbles out or your CVT is going to have a very dim future...I hope others do not follow your procedure or there is going to be a lot of failing CVT's out there.

    The fluid level should be checked with the engine running and the CVT fluid temp between 95-113 degrees, Between those temps a small stream of fluid should come out of the fill port, If your filling it and the fluid is running out without the engine running it will be most definitely low on fluid.

    • @OptimisticGarage
      @OptimisticGarage 4 місяці тому

      Used a temp gun to reach temp before topping off. Ty

    • @bygonebob
      @bygonebob 3 місяці тому

      First of all, temp gun is not the right way to take trans temp reading. There is a reason why they put a temp sensor in there so an OBD reader is the only way to do it. When the engine/tranny is running, some of the fluid gets picked up from the drain pan and distributed/re-circulated throughout the rest of the transmission so the fluid level in the pan will drop below fill hole level. This is the right time to add fluid to bring that level up back to fill hole level (of course with fluid expansion taken into consideration). When the engine stops, the fluid that has been re-circulated goes back down to the drain pan, hence, when you took off the fill plug in the beginning fluid came out. That is normal. The idea here is to maintain the fluid in the pan at or close to fill hole level WHILE it is ‘up to temp’ or hot AND being re-circulated while the engine is running. Putting fluid in not bringing it up to temp (cold) you run the risk of blowing up or overpressurizing your CVT when it gets hot later on. When that happens, fluid gets spewed out through the top vent and your tranny ends up being underfilled.

      Careful with led lighting in these old games. Sometimes looks off but it’s personal preference too. I recommend clear coating the backside of the back glass to keep it from flaking off. Also led in back glass simply to reduce the heat. Love the game. Have you seen the short video from the 80’s about this game. Search on UA-cam it’s kinda neat.

      @OptimisticGarage The backglass is already flaking before I even touched it LOL. I'm sure this kit will be way better than the bulbs in it now. A lot of them have flaky sockets and corroded sockets as well. Going to try and use a dremel and 443 wire brush bits to clean them. I have seen a few videos on the galaxy and I found out that the galaxy was the first machine to introduce seperate general illumination (GI) system and Williams came out of retirement and built a few pinball machines for stern and galaxy was one of them.

    I would add some tie down points in the floor for future use and a tool box on the tong ,you could add some angle or strapping to the tong and lay the spare flat on it and bolt it

    Yes. Boys used it and brakes were sub par. I’m looking into a different brake pad shape. Issue is limited amount of pad actually making contact to hub. I will try and get a short updated posted when weather turns better.

    Check out John McK 47 video library here on UA-cam for some basic safety information on these heaters. You're definitely going to need to get the combustion exhaust and intake routed outside this case or you will certainly melt down the plastic , wiring and circuitry. That exhaust will be >500F when running on high. The exhaust should be routed on a descending path to allow the condensate to drain or it will corrode from the carbonic acid in the condensate. ua-cam.com/video/g07yVuZbjsE/v-deo.html

    There is a funny thing about Tyre Sizes; They are measured in millimetres, inches and a ratio. 205(mm)/75(%)R15 have a smaller diameter (689mm/27.13") than 235/75R15 tyres (734mm/28.94"). This will give you (about) one extra inch of ride height and give you (about) one less inch of clearance to the fender/mudguard). It will (obviously) also affect the width of the wheel in the guard, but also the unsprung weight.

    I like the idea of a central beam running all the way from the hitch/coupling to the rear tie bar/crossmember. A single length of RHS (rectangular hollow section) is the most convenient and if it has a 50mm ID (internal dimension), it could also function as a hitch receiver for a bike rack or recovery point. It is an easy retrofit that gives a little bit of extra strength to a DIY repaired trailer, while adding only a little bit of extra weight. It also provides a much safer cable run for the electrics, and the hitch receiver at the end provides a central tie-down/recovery point if something bad happens to your trailer.

    in order for it not to be dangerous to use, you will have to get the exhaust and the muffler out of the box. and get the rest of the exhaust heat-safe in the box with the heat-safe the exhaust pipe otherwise it will all end up burning down. as the exhaust before the muffler becomes red hot and the muffler also gets very very hot, I have installed many of those heaters in trucks and buses, and most of the times that they burn the buses off is because someone (not knowledgeable) has installed them incorrectly behind the bus. so diesel and engine oil have come out all over the exhaust and muffler (so every winter it has been a big firebomb they have lit underneath)😊 . but keep on with the ideas!😊
