As it turns out, travelling with a camera in my hands is the most useful thing I have done to keep my mind and body healthy and clear. But if I can't do it, I then head to UA-cam looking for similar content… and I thought, why not creating my own? And so, here we are.
Try these settings with Fuji X100V for slow shutter creative photos
Disclaimer: I noticed a bunch of grammar mistakes here and there. As you can hear, English isn't my mother tongue. Sorry about that!
This will be a rather personal video about how I got out of the creative block and found inspiration in something as simple as an ND filter. And no, this isn't another video praising the X100V. But if you are going through a bad time, lacking motivation to shoot etc… bear with me, maybe you find something helpful here.

This is how Japan sounds like (no music, no talking)

Since one of you asked for it, here you are! As the name suggests, this is just a little movie to showcase the raw sound of Japan, without music, fancy effects or transitions. Filming Japan with the Fujifilm XH2
Переглядів 3,2 тис.9 місяців тому
It has taken me more than I care to admit to put this video together. Most of the footage here was meant to be used for lens reviews, but life go on the way and never found the time or the motivation to them. Afraid of just leaving this material forgotten in some ssd, I decided to collect all in one video that, at least, will serve my wife and myself as a little, home movie. Here's a version wi...
Sigma 18-50 f2.8 for Fuji, how is this even possible?
Переглядів 53 тис.Рік тому
3 weeks in Japan, 3 Fuji prime lenses… I thought I was going to be just fine but the truth is that after only a couple of days, I realised I needed a zoom. I went to BIC Camera, tested the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8, paid and left on my Fuji XH2 for almost the rest of the trip. This a little review of an almost revolutionary f2.8 zoom that goes for around 500$. And we are using Japan as a backdrop. SIG...

When Fujifilm lenses & cameras fail

Although I absolutely love Fujifilm cameras and lenses, the truth is that i have experienced some issues with this gear that for many people would be a total dealbreaker. Today I will be going over all the issues that I have had with my gear during the past four years, when I switched from Canon. Gen 4 Fujifilm cameras are undefeated. I switched over from Sony to Fuji with the XT5 release. I’ve had the XT5, XH2s, but sold them for the XT3 and XE4. The XT3 is my work camera and the XE4 is my everyday/dad camera.
for me the X-T4 is the sweet spot, I had 2x X-T3s and a X-E1. the X-T3had the most amazing sensor and did everything just perfect. except, the battery was pretty bad. And the battery alone is why I switched to the X-T4, and Man O man is the battery better. I can shoot a Wedding with a battery grip and not even get half-way. its insane. I do mis the tilt screen alot. and the X-T5 doesnt have a Battery grip, so I'm skipping that one too. But I get what you are saying, there is beauty in the simplicity of the X-T3. it has a special place in my heart.
I like Tokyo . I like Fuji .
I love the XT3. When I bought it 2019, I said this will be the last camera I buy, unless it breaks down. I attached the Small Rig camera cage to it because I do feel the camera is too small for my hands. On which I'll either attach and Anker battery supply or put the battery in my pocket and I'm good to go all day on power either on stills or video well beyond any other camera system's batteries. With the battery attached, it adds some weight and stability so for me that's a plus.
Awesome video! I have a sigma 18-50 as well and looking into filmmaking. Just wanted to know, did you use a mic here? If so, which one?
The problem with this lens is that you no longer want to use your other expensive Fuji lenses.
Great review!!! Can I ask you to share your film simulation recipe? I like it a lot
Would you say it's still a good camera in 2024/2025 ? I'm thinking about upgrading from my XT20
it wouldn't be a massive update over your XT20, I'd aim for XT4: with IBIS and more film simulations.
@@carlosdomi thanks for your answer
Fuji's X-T3 has the best control/dial setup of any Fuji camera to date. I'd love to have IBIS, or CFExpress, but I'm unwilling to give up my dedicated exposure metering switch.
Hello, great video, and I will be in Osaka very soon too! I'm travelling with my XF16-55 lens and constantly feel that it's too bulky and heavy for me to be travelling with. Saw this video and really wanted to purchase the Sigma 18-50 lens, but I kept hearing you mention that the image quality on the XF16-55 is still much superior than this. I saw your other video talking briefly about the XF16-55 and saw some video quality out of it, and it does look much better than the Sigma's, but I don't think this is indicative of their differences. Could you please do a video comparing both lenses' picture and video qualities please? I think a lot of people are equally curious about their differences.
I'd love to do that :) it could make my next video but it's going to take a while. Now, unless you are there filming/taking photos for work, I'd pick the Sigma. The 16-55 is a fantastic lens as you know, but I really didn't enjoy having to walk around the city with so much weight. The Sigma in comparison doesn't weight much more than a prime Fuji lens. Maybe pass by the Yodabashi or Bic Camera in Osaka and try it (that's what I did!)
Great content brother❤ keep going. Your channel will be awesome soon✨
Was in Japan from in early June to for two weeks enjoyed every moment. Especially as a street photographer.
may I know if you used any additional gear for stabilization (like monopod or smth else)
hey there, no tripod or monopod used but I did have to stabilise some shots in post
Amazing photos. Did you use any Fuji recipe for the jpegs or all all of them post processed raws.?
thank you :) these were all processed raws, it's been a while since I don't shoot jpeg (and maybe I should hehe)
love your video! how did you get the grain? thanks!
thank you Rafael! if you mean the grain in the video is just natural, by simply using a higher ISO.
I couldn't stand the camera. The ergonomics suck. And if you want a camera for family snapshots and get-togethers a smartphone will produce pictures that are just as good. If you want photos that you can modify in lightroom, the Leica Q comes in at the same price point as the x100v and and x100vi. It also provides a better experience and a better return on your $2500 investment
Don’t do it bro. Just the build quality is so much better than the XT5. Made in Japan vs China
I have the x100v and I fell its over rated. The quality compared to my Japaneese Built XT2 is laughable. The images look great on the 3million dot lcd screen but look dont translate well to the phone.
UNFORTUNATELY, the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN lens that I purchased on 12/8/22 for my Fuji X-T5 camera developed a problem on 7/29/24 that means I can't depend upon it. Up until that time I was pleased with it for both photos & video. BUT after I had taken about 190 photon on the 29th, the aperture froze at F20 & nothing I could do resolved this. I was about 2hrs driving distance from home. Another zoom lens worked just fine on my camera when I got back home. Mysteriously, the Sigma lens now seemed to work again. BUT when I researched online, I found several other situations where Sigma lenses had similar problems. THEREFORE, I have no choice but to stop using this Sigma lens & get the Fuji XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR Lens, since I can't run the risk of having the Sigma lens fail again when I'm away from home.
Stopped watching, colours just horrible for my taste
how beautiful that we don't have the same taste - thank you for the information
Fuji AF is dogshit
I want to come to Vienna soon, can you please tell me the safe immigrat free areas?
Crazy how good that intro was!
Beautiful, very cinematic.
What do you think about Fujifilm X-T20 with fujinon 18-55mm lens? How much is good max price for used body (only)?
Here in Austria you should be able to find an XT20 for 350-400 euros, maybe even with some lens :) it’s a decent camera, not the one you would bring to a professional shoot, but a lovely little piece to enjoy photography with
What keeps me with the X-T3 is its fantastic video quality.
Wonderful shots, try to include push and pull horizontal motion of your camera with your arms with shutter lag, also great results. Also try to keep the shutter open longer and paint with your lens, works well in snow white washed backgrounds with someone or people walking dressed in black with an accent color jacket. It is an art but once you master movement with pulling and pushing techniques as well as painting and halting the frame at the end or the beginning of the shots after the initial or end painting movements creates more painted portraits. Again enjoying your videos, keep shooting!
Well said, fuji is amazing!
Made me want to invest in the lens and also go out there and take more pictures, thanks a lot
A reveal of the shots would have made this post much more engaging
Nice shots. Handheld or gimbal?
Hey there, thank you! It’s all handheld
What's the background music at the start?
I've been trying to decide for two weeks... Yes two weeks.. Xt5 or xh2... I heard the xt5 has some build quality issues.
Lens?
I always liked Sigma 17-50 on Nikon, but then changed to Fuji and since the first day I hated this, for unknown reasons to me, religiously adored XF 18-55. This one is nice, but still a lot of distortion corrected digitally, vignette is cool, also no stabilization which is a problem with my X-T3. Also being snob and wanting the aperture ring while knowing that it would be perfectly fine without it.
I love 18-55, but yesterday it gave me trouble with aperture ring. It moves easily, literally from a wind blow, so I sometimes got even f13)) May be it is only my lens, which is quite old ( bought in a kit with X-E1). Thinking about this Sigma, it fits well because I have X-S10 with IBIS.
If you have a fixed aperture of f2.8, and you film slog3 so you're stuck on your native ISO, then you have a fixed shutter speed, how in the world do you control the amount of light hitting the lens? Does the job end up falling on a variable ND Filter?
Yeah. My ND filter is usually the only thing I’m adjusting on the fly as a run&gun video shooter, everything else remains as is
Yes, we Fuji folks are a community. Last summer when I was in Amsterdam, a man asked me about my Xpro2. He had one as well. Turns out we live in the same small town in New Jersey. By the way, my connection to my Xpro2 is as strong as yours to the XT3.
Awesome video! Just curious if there was significant price difference between the Japanese price vs the Amazon price?
The yen was a bit weak then, that and the fact that you can pay tax free made it significantly cheaper than in Amazon. Oh, and thank you!
@@carlosdomi thanks for the response! I'll be going to Tokyo and Nagoya next month so I'll wait for that trip and hopefully get the lens there.
Lot of confusion in XT3 and XT30 ii.. please replay which camera should i buy, only for photography ❤💥
Only just bought an XT2, looking forward to getting into it, seems like all the camera I'd ever need!
Love this video. Blown away by these shots
thank you so much - for passing by, for watching and for taking the time to leave such nice words
Great video, gorgeous shots, and inspiring words.
Thank you - I know it’s a bit personal but I thought maybe somebody would like to hear how somebody else is struggling with the same feeling.
@@carlosdomi Thanks for saying it. People are more alike behind our barriers than we realize. Especially as an artist I've heard artists whose work I admire are, or at some point have have the same thoughts, or been through the same struggles. It helps knowing we're not alone.
im in tokyo right now and you inspired me so much! thank you❤
Thank you! It was worth the time doing the video then :)
Love these thank you!
My pleasure!
great shots 🏃♂️📸
Cheers man thank you for passing by 🙏🏻
This was beautiful moviemaking - thank you for your inspiring video - I went and purchased an XH2S and a SIGMA 18-50mm lens - I will be using it in part to film some action scenes in my movies.
Former X-T4 owner.. Thinking about side-stepping the X-T5 and grabbing the XH2.. You're helping the cause w/ this video, for sure lol.
Such a great video! I couldn’t decide between this or the tamron 17-70, but now I know I’ll get the Sigma - Thanks!
Your video footage is unreal. I'm actually astonished. Did you shoot f-log? Also great review, the lens is indeed very impressive for the price and size.
Hey Mike, thank you so much for your words. This was indeed mostly shot in flog, then graded to taste.
What microphone is that?
