Hello and welcome to my channel Bobo Bun, where I love to share my Sew Vintage Life with you.
I’m Lisa, a lifelong Vintage Inspired Seamstress and Dressmaking Teacher at Bobo Bun’s Sewing School in Norwich, UK.
As a child I was always making something or curled up with a book. I first learnt to sew on my mum’s Vintage Singer Sewing machine. I’ve been sewing non stop since then, learning everything I can alongside my career in teaching. These days, if I'm not teaching dressmaking classes, I’m sewing, knitting or planning my next project.
I'll be sharing my sewing tales, vintage inspired sewing and knitting projects along with general craftiness with you here on my channel.

Sewing a PussyBow Blouse from a 1960’s Pattern
Переглядів 73621 день тому
After seeing a floral PussyBow blouse under a knitted vest at O Pioneers I was hooked. I knew this had to be my next make to go with my current knitting. Searching through my pattern stash, I found just the pattern I was after with a suitably large bow from the 1960’s. The floral fabric was chosen, a 1970’s gem to pair with 1950’s blue buttons. I truly enjoyed making this beautiful blouse. Now ...
Recreate the Look ~ Helen’s Signature Style from All Creatures Great & Small

All Creatures Great & Small returned to our screens again this week. The new series perfectly captures the bygone Yorkshire Dales of James Herriot’s 1930’s to 1940’s. It always makes me feel comforted, relaxed, entertained and inspired every time I watch it. I decided a Recreate the Look for Helen Alderton’s wardrobe would be perfect autumnal timing for us all. In this chat I share with you som...

Hi Lisa could I ask where you buy your Vilene from at such a reasonable price please, great idea for making patterns but can’t seem to find it for less than £3.30 per metre. Beautiful beautiful blouse, many thanks Xx
🤩🤩🤩 oh! Oh my goodness!! Your blouse is incredible. 😍😍😍 wow!!! Absolutely perfect. I want to make one. 😆 it's going to look amazing with your knitted vest over the top - but it looks incredible as is. Just beautiful!!!!! 🤩
Thank you Abby, so glad you like it. I’ve planned more as I realised how fun they are. I hope you make one too 💖
Lovely books. The Style categlogue artwork is stunning. Lot's of inspiration there, including wonderful pockets designs for the full skirts 😍
Aren’t they beautiful Christine and as for pocket inspiration 🥳
Oh that beautiful lingerie, where wouldn't you where it more like. I would feel like a goddess in those, wouldn't look like one but who cares about that. Hope you're well lovely....
Love that pattern catalog! Not only for the fashions, but for all the illustrations (done by hand back then, although tracing paper was likely involved).

So much faster than knitting! Amazing Lisa it's like sitting in a trasfiguration glass at Hogwarts I wish I knew what it all means xxxx
@@hannahv1930 tons faster Hannah. I don’t even know what a transfiguration glass is, gave up after the first three as they were so dark I couldn’t see what was going on 😂 maybe just me 🤷♀️💖
Your blouse fits beautifully and looks wonderful on you. I'm looking forward to seeing it worn with the trousers and vest. Where do you get your interfacing from that you use as tracing paper. This is such a good idea but are you able to see the pattern you are tracing through it and is it difficult to draw on as some interfacings can be toothy.
@@janeinmid-wales thanks so much Jane 💕 my local shop sells it precut as 2m rolls. It’s non iron interfacing.
The blouse is amazing! ❤❤

Thank you for sharing. I recently discovered your UA-cam videos. I watched your explanation on adjusting a bust dart and it was the best explanation I have ever hear. I am looking forward to your content whenever on UA-cam. This video is one of m y favorites.
Hello, lovely to have you here ☺️. So glad it really helped you with the bust dart adjustment 🤗
As a teenager I read Jane Eyre and Rebecca, I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Hearing your explanation is very enlightening - but I won't read them again. But if I see a Rebecca movie DVD at the goodwill I will pick it up.
I swear I’ve seen Jane Eyre a dozen times and still can’t tell you the plot.
@joannemcmillan9201 😀 young girl has to make own way in world, falls for older bigamist who’s decided wife is mad and locked her in the attic. More struggles for young girl who eventually marries older man after his wife burns the house down. Think that pretty much sums it up. Bit of misery and soul searching on the way too. 💕
My dad also read all the books, we visited Thirsk when I was around 10 (37 years ago!😲) it's the only place we went to together that neither of us wanted to leave. We both loved to visit places but we're always happy to come home but we both would have happily moved there.
That’s it exactly. You feel as if you could just move there in a heartbeat don’t you. If it has a wool and fabric shop, book shop plus good cafes then I’m in ☺️
Now I'm going to have to find the books. Lovely post Lisa I hope the new season of ACGS comes to Australia, I'll go check the ABC.... Nope not there, maybe I should get a VPN!
You sure are Hannah. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. I’m sure you won’t have to wait too long ❤️
Thank you for a wonderful video. I love 1930s 1940s style and "The all seasons" dress by Now & Then is my current WIP. ( would 100% recommend) I shall be making more by them too. I also have made the smooth sailing blouse! I'm so happy All Creatures is back on our TV too!
A pleasure, thankyou for your lovely words ❤️. Smooth Sailing is the perfect blouse isn’t it. All Creatures night again today so happy ☺️

I saw your Instagram posts last year and again this year of your Yorkshire Dales trips which inspired me and we are finally off up there in October ourselves. Such a lovely catch up. Your Jackets are beautiful and your off white jackets is going to look stunning 😍I have been sewing for a overseas trans-seasonal holiday, some autumn warm tops , land girl shorts, tshirts and a summer dress. I'm looking forward to wearing them all 🥰
This is inspiring me to get Fall sewing going! ❤❤❤
That blue cardi is amazing, oversized is super in at the moment so you are on trend. Whenever I've made vintage patterns they are too small and I give them away, I haven't worked out the magic of grading yet. The white jacket is fabulous but I'd be so scared to wear it, not that I'm a mucky pup but it would be a magnet for splotches.
Really, I’m on trend, who would have guessed that could happen 😂. I find some sizing with knitting utter guesswork as you’re starting with no fabric to work it out, it just totally flummoxes me. Know what you mean about the jacket. White I always feel an uncontrollable urge to throw something over myself 🥴 we shall see how it goes 💖
So wonderfully informative as always, I can't wait to see what you make. I'm just sitting here knitting being inspired....
