Muñoz's Auto Repair (the shop) is a family owned and operated automotive repair facility in Santa Barbara, Ca. Established in 1980, our quest has always been to provide Honest, Friendly and Reliable Service.
We're an independent auto shop specializing in Honda, Acura and Toyota vehicles, with a focus on Hybrids. Our moto "Preparing Today For Tomorrow's Cars" speaks to our approach, but being voted Best Auto Repair this year, as well as receiving the Local Hero Award in 2015 from the Santa Barbara Independent, speaks to our impact.
We don't make any products and we don't sell anything online, so if you like our content, the best way to support the channel is to subscribe. If you find yourself watching a video and have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments.
We are a fully functional auto shop, so most of our videos will be shot on a Saturday and posted on a Monday.
For more info on the shop, please check out our Facebook page or visit MunozAuto.com

In Part 2 of our Defeating Catalytic Converter Thieves series, we're breaking down how thieves are sealing the Catalytic Converters themselves. We teach you what we've learned from first hand repairs and show you what we're installing to prevent thefts before they happen.
Defeating Catalytic Converter Thieves | Where's My Cat...?

Find out where Catalytic Converters are located and why they are being stolen in Part 1 of our Defeating Catalytic Converter Thieves series.
How do I get it off to change the 02 sensor
I didn’t even put the sticker on, I want these jackasses to waste their time going under the car.
Hope you’re not drilling the frame 😂
Just use the sawsall to cut the shield
How to buy the widget in the video?
They cut it 😂
I got a sweet deal on a very low mileage 07 sulev accord from CA. I live in a no smog state, so any decent aftermarket converter is acceptable, and it's been fine since. I'm sure if it was high mileage, it would have gone to the salvage yard vs. auction and shipped out of CA. CA can keep their BS policies to themselves.
the auto manufacturers would make it difficult to remove a cat converter but they are making a killing selling the victims of thefts the new parts.
What type of drill bits did you use?
Add a lot of spikes and sharp edges. We used to do that with car stereos. When they would reach behind to cut the wires ,instead of a hand, they would pull back hamburger and chicken bones...
Ewwww
Where do the nylon spacers go?
thank you video...if we replace aftermarket toyota they still get again
I have this shield and it was still stolen twice and with a third attempt
Sorry to hear that was the rivets ground off or the plate cut ? I’m looking to do a custom fit and think might be best weld a harden steel rod along the cat or shield .
Thieves stold my 2007 Prius with a Tow truck, I'm so thankful I had this shield, I had the advanced one where they can't reach around also. The car was recovered at a later date but the converter was still there. They had time to try and cut it out if they wanted too but this shield still deterred them from trying.
The steel miller cat shield?
lmao lazy crooks! time to steal the car but not to cut through the shield haha its pretty risky cuz the shield is quite sharp. i almosst cut myself getting it out the box
What drill bit size did you use to drill the holes?
depends on the rivet size you gonna use.
Is it possible to replace a failed catalytic converter after Cat Security™has been installed?
of course, autozone sells Magna flow cats. they work good with prius
@@AFouad92 Thank you!
POS shield. Too thin and it is aluminum. They can cut through that like cheese. There are other problems with it too, as the body shop guy below confirms. Bad design.
This ain't gonna do jack s^%t
Just install a motion alarm and have a high decibel horn facing the cat area. Take out their ear drums if they really want the cat so bad.
Also when car parked close to you home a home alarm contact or motion will activate and alert you . Then someone could go out with pepper spray or other .
You're ignored, just like the rest of the Fauci-ite sheep.
Why not a motion sensor to activate an air horn or fire alarm bell? Maybe even multiple small hanging bare wires tied to a 30,000 volt coil. They would run so fast they might forget their electric saw. A UA-camr with a candid camera would get millions hits and make a ton of money.
what should i do if my catalytic converter was stolen? am i still allowed to drive the car with another one on there?
He is rite they dont want it if its protected
How effective are these?
Option C transfer your car to a no smog area and run a high flow cat 🥸
Good info but take the damn mask off!
that is very weak, its so easy to snip it off man
WHY wear a mask 🤣 Prevention from the cam???
I did park in a well lit area. All it did was give the thieves better lighting for the sawzall cuts. So how do you Defeat the thieves as the title indicates?
If stolen just put a metal tube, depending on the state your are living some local rules apply
3 minutes of grinding that light gage steel won’t stop a burglar.
They use reciprocating saw. it will cut it like butter. thicker plate.
Will they work on V6 lexus rx
Hi B, unfortunately CCM only makes Cat Security for a few vehicles and none of them are from Lexus. We're assessing options for CR-Vs and Accords based on universal parts, so once we complete our testing and find a solution we feel confident recommending, we'll cover it in a video.
Them aluminum rivets are trash very weak.
Useless vid , don't waste you time . NOTHING HERE ABOUT DEFEATING ANY THING .
Take off your mask come on . You kidding me .
Maybe your face diaper will stop them.
What is up with the mask 😷
That’s all fine and dandy until you actually have to replace the cat and the technician will be cussing you out upside and down the other 😂😅
Catalytic converter pipe out of a super hard and thick material like Titanium, then paint it to look like a normal one. That way when they try, their saw gets broken. Now you’ve put them out of business for a bit until they get a new saw.
I u-bolted, painted and VIN'ed my cat. ua-cam.com/video/uCMTZb7OHrI/v-deo.html 🐾 Steel cables, ua-cam.com/video/CYIDgYhyznY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ZUisJggKWvgi/v-deo.html Prius brackets ua-cam.com/video/oQrlpL2q_BQ/v-deo.html
Put your mask over it that will keep it safe...
right? lol
Is the Tacoma 2006 also in risk for catalytic converters theft thank you
Junkyard only offers $40 per cat
Wouldn't a simple sleeve around the exhaust pipe prevent theft? If you put a loose-fitting sleeve around a pipe, it makes it impossible to cut because the sleeve turns. That could even be a split sleeve that is quickly installed with a large plyers type tool.
Thanks for the tips, and its great to see you staying safe while working 😷
Oh take off ur damn mask.
I know it's illegal but if there was a way to shield the cat in a way to maim or at least mark up a thief. Like spill a ton of paint or sticky pepper powder or gel.
Why aren't the car makers responsible for placing something so valuable where it can be easily stolen? Let the lawsuits begin.
Naw! The only good here is that the thief would be surprised, and maybe befuddled by the shield system being there. But with high-speed battery operated saws and grinders it would just take a little longer to get to the cat. A determined thief would still get it even if he had to return when more time was available.
most likely he will move to the next car
