Massive Vintage Compressor Restoration Part 2. The motor
Переглядів 1643 роки тому
Rebuilding the massive motor that came with the compressor. I don't believe it's the original but it's a nice one all the same. The shaft is bent so I need to machine it straight and sleeve it.
Massive Vintage Compressor Restoration Part 1
Переглядів 2843 роки тому
In this new series of videos, I'm going to try to restore this massive vintage air compressor. Air compressors can be dangerous so I show you how you can test the cylinder to make sure its safe using water which cannot be compressed like air, and thus, no potential energy to wreak havoc.
Peugeot Citroen ABS ESP Error Fix

This is how I fixed the ABS ESP error on my Peugeot 308. This should work for all modern french cars in theory. A little different to my usual videos but it incorporates some lathe work.
A Simple Book Press Restoration
Переглядів 5823 роки тому
This video is to celebrate 300 subscribers! I did not think i would have this many. The press shown, is from my grandad (again). It was in a flood, and became very rusty. But it was superficial. I enjoyed the restoration as it required a number of techniques, from electrolysis, milling, lathe work and using my rotary table. I still need to sort the sound out with these videos, and i also used d...

Kerry Super 8 Pillar Drill Press Rebuild
Переглядів 2,4 тис.3 роки тому
This is a video of one of my Kerry Super 8 Drills. It has 4 speeds, plus back gearing giving eight speeds. My grandfather gave me one of these a few years back and i ended up giving it to a friend, but i had another 3! Very well made and very heavy.

A quick tour of my workshop. My messy tiny workshop. Sorry about the cracking sounds, it's my tripod hitting stuff as I move it.
Parkinsons Perfect Vice No 9 Restoration (HUGE VICE REBUILD)
Переглядів 45 тис.4 роки тому
This video shows how I rebuilt a vintage Parkinsons vice. Its around 100 years old, these were produced between 1880 and 1930. Its in pretty good shape to start with which helps, just lots of surface rust.
MGB Rear Axle Rebuild, Modifications and a QUAIFE LSD Setup!!
Переглядів 12 тис.4 роки тому
This video shows my axle as it gets an upgrade in the form of a Quaife ATB LSD. I have other mods on the axle for my 4 link coilover conversion and rear disc brakes. I had an issue with the diff, in that there was a manufacturing defect, but Quaife sorted it out for me under warranty. An LSD takes a lot of time and effort to set up (one reason for why its a long video), so if you don't feel com...

MGB GT BCV8 PETER BEST BRANDS HATCH 2008 CRASH
Strange!, have just looked at Sam's Trains review of these coaches and his are a lot less bight than these.
Possibly as mine is DCC and on 18v
even if they are brighter than life, that's ok, they simply look wonderful 😀😀 Nice review
I have found, this past year that after scraping off the worst of the crud, immersing the components is a solution of caustic soda, kept at a simmer for 1/2 to 1 hour, very effectively gets rid of all grease and paint. Sounds like a bit of a faff but it saves time down the line. Just take care using Caustic Soda [Lye] as it rips off skin just as efficiently. Where lettering is reasonably raised, I've found that going over the tops with a fine flat file, really defines the logos and letters nicely, giving a nice crisp painted finish
Hello, i have the same issue but by me the speedometer is not working, and the parking sensor and the seat belts are not rinning. And sometimes it fixed by it self for a couple of days and then the same issue! Can you or someone else help me?
My Citroen C5, just today, threw esp/asr fault at the exact moment the fuel low indication came on. After that auto trannie started to change in a weird fashion. I found some suggestion that this strange phenomenon happens sometimes. After refueling indeed everything was back to normal. No fault. Gearbox switching gently. Great relief but this correlation is somehow disturbing.
What is the production period?
Thanks so much for posting this. I bought one a few months ago and was worried as the change speed control didnt appear to be working. I hadn't realised that the pin had to be moved as well as the knurled knob. That explains a lot! Thanks again.
Why didn’t you just change the disc & pads 😅
Thanks for the video though 👌
I would love to know the paint colour and type you used. I am currently rebuilding a Kerry model 100, and cannot find paint colours anywhere online
When I'm home I'll look for the tin.
Beautiful, I just picked up a Kerry model 100 and will be refurbishing it. Can’t wait
Nice job there, i like your footings and good control operation bit too. I’ve just got a chipmaster, but it was coveeed in gunk and couldnt make any of the gears out. The variator also wont adjust as the cogs dont meet just inside the cabinet
Hello from the East Riding of Yorkshire. Just watched your excellent video about the unboxing of your GWR coaches and I found it very interesting and informative, well done. Your layout looks amazing as well. Thank you once again. I shall be watching again. 👍🚂
Lost me with the “music”
I was disappointed that it is assumed that they are going to be run as a set with close coupling with no alternative provided. I bought a brake coach to run as a one coach branch train and had to then buy a pack of NEM couplings. How much extra would it have cost to provide alternative couplings?
The cantrail sticks out too much and reminds me of the metal roofs of the ancient Graham Farish 'suburban carriages of the 1960s. A pity they did not go in for Churchward's American bogies. The roofs would be better dark grey. White just looks silly.
WWRD. What would Rambo do?
Can't beleive I'm saying it, but £55 is maybe good value for money nowadays... but shame though that they don't do "packs of 4" or buy 4 get 1 free.. I'll be waiting for a lottery win. Anyway great video - I imagine you didn't bother taking the rooves off the other coaches arter learning your lesson! These manufacturers don't seem to recognise that most of their customers are going to have radius 2 curves, and fit as default all the the details (like short close coupling) that look good but aren't all that practical. I got a class 33 last week, all the buffer detail had to be taken off if you wanted to effectively haul any trains..
UNBOXING!!! I hate every UA-cam video that has UNBOXING in the description... "Watch me take this thing out of the box" How interesting.. NOT!
You could just NOT watch the video? 🤷♂️
I notice you had the same problem I found, getting the carriage roofs back on is difficult, very easy to break something
This very good job!
Great restoration
hi, could you tell me what the error code was?
Nice job! I think my Granny used one of those for holding her firewood when she was crosscutting it with her Bushman saw. Yours makes exactly the same noise as hers did. Like acoustic time travel! 😊
great vid but that disc is completely shot, heavily scored and massive lip...but in terms of replacing the reluctor ring, good stuff
ua-cam.com/video/pE9b9582kv4/v-deo.htmlsi=yrLQUJ4ZXbIeQnSO original color And I buy in German Frankfurt And all signs in German Language Looks like he’s made for the gentleman that is very beautiful condition. No scratches everything is so beautiful everything work nice it’s my first time
Looks superb. Its a right beast. I wouldn't want to lift it lol.....Tony
The drill looks great. I used to have exactly the same model. It did some work over the years.....Tony
I have a floor-mounted model the pillar lock and quill mechanism are missing from mine, it's a great drill and as well-made as all the machines from that era, maybe someone reading this might offer any ideas over the above bits missing.
Did not look like correct top bearing in quill. Should be thrust bearing. And motor mount has spring i between body and mount plate
This is the best illustration of a rear axle build thank you for the time to post this. Is the procedure the same to just replace the crown and pinion from a standard 3.09 to a 3.07 to suit a rover V8, can a novice do this work with the right measurements or is it more for a specialist ?
How's the rest of the air compressor going ?
Actually finished. I just haven't had time to make the new video. More will be coming soon though.
This would be error U0415 fault in abs/esp or electric parkimg parking brake on a diagbox or diagnostic. How do you determine which one on your oppinion ? I have that error code but dont want to strip disks off..I have to admit the electric brake applies on and off ok but i still get the error message..Also how would you know of if its just the abs sensor behind tne hub instead?
U fault it a can bus fault
How do you know which wheel?
You have to remove the wheel and look with a torch at the magnetic ring and look for any missing magnets.
I have the same fault changed the faulty sensor and pick up ring but fault remains
I kinda like the duratec with the.yams kinda sounds like a properly tuned MGB with a hint of Ferrari steroid added for good measure. I HAD A LIPSTIC RED.CORGI MGB AS A CHILD. I MISS IT SO.HAPPY MOTORING!😅
Most impressive. I HOPE SHE GIVES MANY YEARS OF TROUBLE FREE DRIVING. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR LABOR OF LOVE!
So is that normally aspirated or fuel injection? I cant quite tell? I m guessing its fuel injected with velocity stacks reminds me so much of Ferrarri 250 gt ellena engine. Not so much the air cleaner but the side draft stacks. If thats the one that went into Jakes Mgb thats one hell of an engine! Im super impressed! Thanks for sharing this delicious modification to the Mgb! Please drive conservatively and.dont flip her. That engine sounds perfect! Nice notes!
Think you've got the term 'naturally aspirated' mixed up matey. That refers to whether it is boosted (ie turbo or supercharged). This looks to have individual throttle bodies rather than carbs so it's fuel injected 👍👍👍
Gorgeouse!
Thanks for the vid, it help a lot with mine. Thankyou.
Nice little lathes. I did my Engineering apprenticeship (1976-1980) in a company that made saddle gearboxes for Colchester lathes amongst other parts (topsides, compound slides and tailstocks). The gearboxes were for the larger Colchester lathes, Triumphs and Masters. At the age of 19 and still on day release at college, I ran the gearcutting shop, Hobbers, shapers, vertical and horizontal broaching machines, and an induction hardening plant where we hardened the gear teeth. You have 2 shafts running along the front of the lathe to drive the saddle gearbox. A lead screw for thread cutting and a spline shaft for feeding. I don't think we made parts for the Chipmaster, but we had one in the turning shop. Some machines were special purpose ones built by Colchester. Looking into the saddle gearbox on the vid I can recognise a lot of the parts. It was a busy place shipping out a fair few gearbox assemblies every week up to Colchester for assembly into new machines.
От хірурги 😂 Як в резинових рукавицях можна щось робити ? Краї диска можна було в станку обточити.
Nice job
i got the same one just dcc ready. i had it pulling 10 coaches up my helix which has a 2% grade, it didn't even faze it.
Just bought one of these at a car boot for 20 quid and looking forward to getting stuck in to restoring it. It is a well used item but functionally really sound. Like yours, the letters in the casting are not great but an hour or so with a die grinder will tidy them up a bit. Not going to allow myself to start, till I have finished my Record #36.... it got a bit side lined, so this gives me a good incentive to tidy up the last few snags on that one. Thanks for the video. I'm sure it will help avoid some head scratching on my part. These are really heavy and, at my age, the less I have to lift and turn it, the better. To get it back to the car, I bought a shopping trolley for a couple of quid, took the bag off, just leaving the frame and strapped it to that. By the time I got it to the car, it was trashed ...It died in a worthy cause ! ;<)
Really impressive restoration job. Cheers Tony
All very well, but now you do not have an MG !!! You also devalued your asset !! NOT A SMART MOVE !! The gearbox will keep failing as it was NEVER designed to cope with the loads you are applying. Then the diff will fail for the same reasons, then the body........ and the story will go on and on and on and.................................... THEN you will be sad and miss your MG that you once had !! It is what it is and be happy with that !
Couldn't be further from the truth. The gearbox can handle 250bhp as I upgraded the bearings and lubrication. I don't care about the value of the car as I'll never sell it, I've had it over 20 years. The diff will not fail as it is the same diff used in the V8 models which have more torque. Also it has a limited slip differential. My car currently has 230bhp and has not broken down at all even though I drive it hard. Build it right, build it once.
It couldn’t be a nicer model to look at, let alone to drive on our digital layout. It willingly hauled five carriages and looked lovely as it did so.
I saw this locomotive yesterday at the Hoddesdon Model and Railway Club Extravaganza!! What a gorgeous model it is!! I was driving her on our DCC layout!! Very exciting!!
Hey. Can I please use some of your footage in my films? I will credit you for it.
Yeah sure
@@MG-Driver Thanks. And upload more videos.
