Dude bought a lotus oh and an all new model lotus at that and was shocked to have issues?! lol dude you are not a car guy if that’s shocking to you! That should be expected with lotus hell all British cars but especially lotus!!! Think about it Lotus after making the same exact model for 20 years still couldn’t get them reliable!! And half of it was a Toyota!!! The 4 people I know that have bought a lotus 3 of which bought new all had terrible issues! The guy who bought used he got a V8 90s era which had the least trouble but he still got stuck a few times! I’m sure you bought it so you could join and stand out at your local super car club but it’s not worth it!! You get a week of love from them and then it’s oh he the new guy is here again and on a drive if the car does work 100% it can’t keep up with the club as most will have 911 turbos and lambos etc and because it’s a lotus while getting on the highway they just leave you on the on ramp wondering wtf just happen and then you are left with a broken car and no stand out love left. Lotus isn’t worth the headache. You will get some love from non car people but is it worth it? If it’s your dream engine car etc ok maybe but if not if just to stand out do you really want every 43 year old janitor coming up to you asking about then pretending to know cars then telling you he can afford it or better but he got funds tied up?? Do you want that while waiting for a tow truck!!? Maybe if this was 1980 or 1969 lotus and the name it meant back then but not now they ruined the history and name decades ago, just like jaguar. Btw how can it be a dream car?! It’s a new model and you are a grown man! Maybe meant the company is your dream? Anyway next time buy something like a R8. I picked up a red one recently, and it has 2 white spots above the driver side passenger door handle (which the Tesla advisor actually saw during delivery) and one white spot on the bonnet (which I noticed later). I put in a service request with the images as proof before hitting a 100 miles on the odometer. Anything else I should be doing to ensure they fix it during the service?

I sold my 2020 Evora GT over one year ago, not with too many issues. It had 1200 miles on it at that time. I sold it with 6,000 miles. The problem I had was with the fuses where I lost power. The tech made me drive it at a variety of speeds to keep the update that was necessary to fix the issue. Nothing else really.

I own an EV, but for me, Teslas, was not one I could consider, for various reasons. Their suspect quality was one of my reasons for NOT purchasing a Tesla.

Woh woh woh, I'm 2 minutes in and this dude hasn't even gotten home yet from driving off the lot and the damn thing has issues already. That's insane, there's lemon laws for that.

Bought a 6 month old Nov 2021 Taycan Turbo in 2022 with CPO warranty. (Smart) Been driving my Porsche as daily driver since then. No problems, no issues, no check engine light. Drive it to multiple states with different weather. Still looks new. Interior still perfect. All electronics function like new. Still fast. Taycan Turbo with 43k miles. Still charges normally. Still have the 50k warranty til next November. (I'm in LA, 3 miles to work) Still have bumper to bumper warranty with unlimited mileage until November 2027. Hit some huge potholes in LA, one on freeway. Broke wheel, blew tire, no suspension issues. Even hit a construction ramp at night speeding, went airborne and landed so hard at 55mph. No issues. Thing is bulletproof. Actually the glass ive replaced once. The glass is thin on the windshield. Get the warranties for glass and wheel and tire. Had so many replaced for free. Dealership is wonderful.

I must have missed the part where your conscience lead you to a lawyer and Lotus bought the car back, and it was forever titled as a Lemon Law Buyback.

had the time, the inclination and the money. did a ton of research (2-3 years) and theres two cars I woudlnt touch, dont give a b-b-q'd f... what anyone says. ^ and Audi. They make some realllyyy cool cars and if you get a good one, awesome.. but if you don't. It's endless.

It's a little bit funny, some of the smaller issues you mention are little things that happen to most cars over time and kind of add to each one's "character". The creaky seat, the trunk, panels rubbing, stuff like that. Not trying to invalidate your problems, if I paid that much for a car than I'd definitely be wanting it to be perfect as well, but it's worth noting the difference between say, a Sentra or Sonata vs a higher end sports car. Things that most people sort of accept and live with become major and expensive annoyances. Drivetrain stuff though, limp mode, CELs, and all of that, whew, that's rough as hell. And if you're replacing 3 MAF sensors, then that ain't your issue lol. Probably a vacuum leak or something. Maybe PCV valve leakage. A lot of these issues sound vacuum related tbh. Those will throw MAF codes and limp mode. In general a lot of those things sound like bad diagnostics. The physical paddles are probably not the issue if multiple paddles are being replaced lol. Probably something to do with the TCM software or wiring. A lot more goes into owning something like this than people realize. These cars aren't produced like manufacturers that make millions of cars worldwide. Every car has its own special jank, but these things are a different level of jank, and I feel bad for the next 2 or 3 owners before it eventually gets parked for good.

Interesting video, but the older M3's do not have some of those functions (fwiw, I am running on SW 2024.44.25.2). For instance, I cannot switch between sensor and vision mode as you can. In fact, I don't have park assist mode in my display. Also, I cannot sweep from left to right and get a full screen of my M3 as you do at 1:00. I assume these are only found in those M3's having HW3 or HW4.

*points at the Lotus badge* some say it stands for Lots of trouble usually serious. my neighbor back in the early 2000s had a Lotus Esprit he had a few of them in the 90s always loved them always got the ones that had little problems some how lucked out all ex the one he owned when i knew him. his 2000s Lotus Esprit that was nothing but problems and met its death when it hit a pot hole at 55mph and sent the suspension strut through the body. some times you get an Awesome car with normal problems like a normal car. some times you get a nightmare you don't get to ever drive its always down for repair.

Its almost unbelievable how many issues you had with this absolute lemon of a vehicle. I drive a Porsche Cayman S 2022 , have had it for 23k kilometers... and it's the most incredible, reliable, amazing car I've ever driven. Never had a single issue, not even a small one.

Thank you for making this video. Goes to show the other side seemed to look greener. I am very grateful for having a honda s2000. I never plan to sell it until I die. I knew I can't be the fastest in the world, so I just bought what I liked as long it was sporty and reliable.

TLDR, Porsche, Lexus or a kit car is the smart way to go lol.

Ill stick with classic cars that can be modernized in infinite ways with proven reliable engines/parts

You don't see those kind of issues with the cars that are manufactured at the China giga factory. Mine came from the Chinese factory without any issues in regards to paint and color matching between the bumpers and body
