MORE TIPS HERE👇🏻 Hey guys! Here’s a peek into the process of how I paint black hair. Painting hair can get tricky sometimes, especially with watercolours. Keep these tips in mind when you’re painting hair the next time: - Begin with a light wash of the colour you see in the highlights of the hair. - Use broader brush strokes to paint shadows and thinner brush strokes for individual strands. - Try to group hair strands into locks/bunches to simplify the painting process. - Paint each strand in one fluid brush stroke to make the hair look continuous. This takes a little practice. Try working on some free hand strokes to gain confidence with it. - Let the paints dry fully in between layers to get crisp brushstrokes for individual strands of hair. - While painting hair, observe how each lock frames the face. Notice if it’s falling towards the face or going away from it. Now direct your brush strokes following the direction of the lock. - Use a finer brush to add individual hair strands for the hairline (near the forehead and temples of the face) and for the strands floating individually around the hair for a natural look. - Preserves the highlights/ white parts of the hair to make the hair look natural and glossy. Stop that judgemental voice in your head. That is a Bad influence on your soul. Tell that voice to take a walk and don't listen to it. You'll come back to your art when you feel lighter. You are a master in your art, just find other sources of enjoyment in your life for the moment. I Love your work! Allow yourself to wander in other directions. It will rest your mind and soul. Mostly, you are just too critical of yourself. Change that discourse in your head. Be kind and compassionate to yourself first. Big hug from Canada.
