How to build a simple inexpensive Stooge (240625)
Just have to be fancy - just effective. This one is quite heavy because it's cast iron and larger than what it needs to be but it will hold any size controline line plane. I would guess the minimum weight should be 10 pounds, this one is 17. Works fine off a grass field but if your flying off pavement then epoxy some rubber on the bottom edges.

The bigger wheels sure did help the landing - no more nose overs.

Replacing the smaller 1 3/4 inch wheels with larger 2 1/4 for better take-offs and landings on grass fields.

Ok so, most of this video is from the pits, in the beginning the fireplug would not fit on the glow plug - had to retrieve the power panel (with a clip that does fit). The plane nosed over at launch because of the thick grass and small wheels. Second attempt engine wouldn't start because the glow form the power panel was very dim, once turned up the engine fired almost immediately, coming from ...

Soon as the heavy turbulent winds back off and weather gets back to normal this plane will fly again.

A short test flight after removal of 1/2 oz. of tip weight. Wind was very gusty and turbulent. The Smoothie has a longer inboard wing which means you should not have to add any tip weight at all, however the plane was originally flying with the inboard wing much too high, to compensate I added more area to the outside flap and less to the inboard, thus making the wing fly as if each side was th...

One more repair stage to go and that will be when the plane is color doped but before the tank and engine is installed.

My first impression after removing the covering was that the wing was fuel soaked, but it isn't, it's completely dry.

First flight with new tank was the reason it was short filled just in case some adjustments were needed - a big mistake as these engines do not give any warning of low fuel before quitting. Damage is repairable.

Taking advantage of the nice weather here to tune up some new airplanes for flying a stunt pattern before the snow flies. It is coming for sure. Last year at this time there was 6 inches of snow on the ground, where I actually flew a ski plane. I believe the video is still on youtube.

First time ever this plane has completed the Old Time Stunt Pattern. with 2 wing overs, and an extra inside loop.
For being a little lean it did great did not miss a bit, I fly on grass too bigger wheels do help
Yes this is a very reliable engine, even running lean it maintains its rpm fairly well, on the other hand an OS FP loses rpm when it runs lean and may even stall.
@@Barrie562 I am correct , that is an Evo 36 engine, if it is I have to copy that needle set up, asked last time but need to see how, did you drill the case or the venturi
@@josephschmidt439 No don't drill the case just the venturi same diameter as the spray bar.
@@Barrie562 ok good to know, don't want to mess up an engine
Had the same thing happen to me, was outside loop engine stalled and the lines went loose and tried my best hopping backwards to get lines to recover, good your plane was not wasted
Yes the grass is too thick, I use cardboard panels, lay out about 12', most of the time I am out by myself. That did look interesting on that hand launch. I also use much bigger wheels too, hey thanks for your vid
also is that a 10x7 prop
The prop is a MA 10x5 three blade.
Where did you get that needle set up, have this engine on my Nobler, yours seems to hold the setting better.
The needle setup is from an OS FP.40, using the large Evolution insert. You can also use an Enya assembly, which has a larger spray bar. You have to experiment which works best for your plane. Remember once you drill out for the larger Enya spray bar that's what you have to use, so experiment with the smaller OS. 25-.40 spray bar first.
I use to take all the crashed control line airplanes and repair them.
rather watch paint dry of flies fucking! lol
anything on a string is boring! rc is the way to go sorry
You're opinion only.
Love it. Such memories.
Thanks for bringing back great memories of my teen years! As cool as this is there's no comparison to my R/C 1/4 scale Ultimate Pitts with smoke doing inverted flat spins! Pretty spiral of smoke...
Красиво! 😊
Excellent, smooth flying!!!!
I wish i could still spin in circles today. (be sure to have a remote ID module, and a part 107 license)
MAN! I flew control line planes for years and years back in the 1950s through to the 1970s. Cheap and loads of fun. I don't think most kids could build one, let alone fly one. There was a time when America produced intelligent kids, not uneducated weirdos.
Great flying. Brings back memories of my teenage years back in the late 60's
I know - I don't think I ever left them!
sooo boring! im dizzy
There will be more outside circle views in future flights, saving on dizziness. And it's not boring when your flying.
