During NAMM, Marshall announced the released of a new series of pedals that are supposed to be Marshall amps in a box. One of them is their classic 1959 Super Lead amp, now in pedal form. As I own both their 1959HW and 1987X, you could say I really dig these amps, so I was really curious to try this pedal.
As I’m releasing this video, almost all other videos online so far feature Marshall themselves, where they showcase the pedals through Marshall amps, which seems pretty redundant to me. I managed to find one in stock at a smaller store in Germany, bought it, and wanted to bring you a quick run-through of this pedal myself.
For that I’m using my Dr. Z Nova head through a Zilla 1X12” open back cabinet with a Celestion 70th Anniversary speaker. When I use the Marshall amp, I’m using my 1987X and not the 1959HW, because the latter would really be too much to handle for this cabinet and because I’m more familiar with the 1987X, as I’ve had it for longer.
Besides the 1959 pedal, no other pedals were used. I’m going straight from the guitar into the pedal and from there into the amp.
Lastly, I don’t know how much these pedals will cost overseas. I’m in Europe and here these are pretty cheap compared to the competition, which makes them interesting in my opinion. I’ve played a lot of actual Marshalls as well as MIAB-style pedals, so I’ve got a grasp of what’s what. And as I said, I’ve bought this myself, this is not a sponsored video.
