Thnx for sharing. I made this step with pastels it’s adding texture to the skin. But now want to try oils)
The oils are also leaving a texture if you do it in multiple layers, but that's also the beauty of it. It looks way more realistic that way.
You made the iris and pupil of the eye far far too small for the size of the eyeball. Wonder Woman must be on crack with eyes like that🤣
you explane perfecly. more video plese
Thank you! More are on the way, I just had some personal issues that had to be taken care of. Stay tuned, my friend.
please add the paint code
I'm using a lot of different colors in this piece, but the main colors of the blues are vallejo ultramarine 72.022 and magic blue 72.021. The skin is mainly basic skin tone 70.815 and the red hair gory red 72.011 with bloody red 72.010 as highlights. I can show the colors more in future videos if that's what people want.
After your first video I tried this with some oils I had and I have to say, it worked really well on a she-ra model I was working on, well, am working on
Awsome! I'm happy you found it valuable.
PikaCHUUUUU
When you talk about varnish, do you wait for your paint to be dry then varnish?
Actually, no. That's the beauty of it. You can spray a layer of varnish, let it dry, and then continue painting without thinking of smearing or blending the first layer. Although I can't say that all of the varnish will react to the oil paint in the same way. So you should try with a scrap piece first to see that yours do what you want.
@@GhosthatArts after a few days of trying, I think I finally had the ah ha moment today right before work, can't wait to get back at it.
@MaddnessCreations Awsome! Please let me know if you have any other questions or if I didn't explain something good enough.
@@GhosthatArts What kind of Varnish do you use? does it dry fast and does it still allow the undried oil paint underneath vaporize over time? It sounds very risky to varnish undried oil paints. Your painting looks awesome! Have you tried this techniques on 35mm scale figures?
@@GhosthatArts is this any Temporary/Retouch Varnish you refer to? Very interesting. I have one spray W&N Varnish that can be removed with White Spirit so it should not be that one, right?
Please show how you mix the colors like in the beginning (Cleopatra model).
Alright! Sure, I can show more of the mixing process in the coming videos. Thanks for the suggestion.
i use vallejo , citadel and army painter. how can you hold model raw after painting with out paint wiping off?
That is a good point, actually. I use only vallejo and a cheap "hobby primer" from the hardware store. I think that the primer makes all the difference. Because it does rub off eventually if I'm being too harsh with the model, but it takes longer when it's primed. On some of the models I paint, I'll seal the paint with a matt primer now and then. You can paint over primers too (may not work with every primer, of course).
hello I just entered your channel excellent content. Very good content. An amazing tutorial. waiting for more tutorials of this high quality.
Thank you very much for the kind words! Is there anything specific you would like to see a tutorial on?
Great job. Bust looks like Jenny Ortega
Thanks! It's my first video, so it can only be better. Hope you got some good information from the video.
Great video! my brother used nail art flakes which are pearlescent in his art, makes alot of sense that those materials would work in modelling.
Thanks! That's interesting, I'll see if I can try that somewhere in the upcoming videos. Great tip! As for this model, the reason I went with the flakes was because I wanted to mimic the "feather" effect from the movies.
Beautiful work! I'm going to have to try that!
Thank you! I hope you got some good advice on how to use this technique. Tag me when you're done so I can see your awesome paint!
Great video
Amazing work and great tips! Thanks!
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Dammmm dude! We love this comic style! And the way you made the video is amazing, we had a lot of fun and learned a lot!!!!! Congratulations and this style is BRUTAL!!!!! Hope to see more from you! <3
Thank you for your continuous support. You and your team are just the best!
Got a link to the model?

You have Good skill. Waiting for the next Update.
Thank you for your comment! I will make another video very soon.
Wow, poor cat 😁
No animals were harmed during this tutorial 😆
Impressive work! We loved the video and loved how you combined the two skin tones! It gives it a unique touch! Congratulations and thanks for sharing! <3
Very nice!
Thank you, my friend!
subscribed :D
Thank you, and welcome!
Great video! Are you going to have a video about painting the rest of the model?
I'm really grateful, thank you! The rest of the model is painted in a timelapse at the end. It's a bit smaller than planned due to a camera problem, but I assure you, I'll make it even better next time!
Yeah having 4 time outside e screens is not great. I would rather see your process and paints that you used at regular speed
@joejvitale Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, I can't do it in real time on UA-cam since that video would be many hours long, and therefore, the "algos" will hate my channel. But bear with me, and I will come up with something good in the next video.
@@GhosthatArts Not the whole thing in real time but look at what others do like GroundEffected and The Creative Collector. Those are still about 10 minute videos
I'll check it out!
Mi amigoooo! ❤ Congratulations on your first video! ❤ We love to see this kind of content in the community, we love to learn together!!!! The eyes are among the most complicated parts and with these tips we know we will all get better! Thanks so much for sharing and keep it up!
Thank you! ❤️
finding any miniature oil painters is difficult keep it up :)
I appreciate your comment! I have a lot of exciting plans for the upcoming tutorials, where I'll be exploring various techniques for painting miniatures with oil paints. Is there anything particular you'd like me to include in this topic?
@@GhosthatArts non metalic metalics honsetly trying to do some hold metalics for miniatures in oil and might be beneficial to see
@Urabrask10 That's a great suggestion! I will make sure to cover that in an upcoming tutorial.
Question: can I use the same technique with acrylic paints?
Hello there! Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, the technique mentioned is not very suitable for acrylics as they tend to dry quite quickly. When working with acrylics, it's best to apply multiple thin layers to achieve the desired shades and tones. You could also consider using soft pastels or pastel pens as an alternative. This technique also works on that. Would you be interested in learning more about it through a tutorial?
Very much so
@mrgrinch13 Alright! Then, I will make a tutorial on that in the near future, so stay tuned.
