paint job looks awesome. i find it hard to paint miniatures while holding onto the base, i would suggest using a painting handle for more control and less fingers touching the model.

Just remember, as long as you are happy with how they turn out then that's all that matters. One piece of advice that I think would make your life easier is to do sub-assemblies. By glueing all the shields on at the beginning, you made it harder to access certain areas of the minis to paint. Great job though and your enthusiasm is infectious :)

The only advice I will give is start learning to fade or blend now. Blending acrylics is a nightmare when you first start and then when you get good it is still a nightmare doing all the glazing. I have changed where I add a little drop of the lighter color then paint the layer then add a little more and another layer in a smaller area. This way you can’t see the transition and it seems to be quicker in my opinion. Blend is just so time consuming.

I do believe you’re getting better. I love the fact that we get to see your journey with this.

I’m so obsessive compulsive that I take forever to paint mine. Error is not in my vocabulary. I use a magnifier when I work on mine and it may takes months to paint a single miniature. Also I work a lot so that factors into the time as well.

So, I want to talk to you a little bit about brush control. If you load just a little bit of paint. You won’t get as much over spill/ over paint. Plus that’s how you paint microscopic details like eyes. So kind of load the brush. Then wipe it down on your pallet or a napkin. But leave enough that it still leaves behind some color. Plus how dry and how wet affects how the paint flows from the brush. If you’re getting over spill? Wiping off the extra paint and moisture will land the paint where the brush touches. But if you are moving your brush and no color is coming off? Adding moisture to your brush and/or paint will help improve flow. I hope that helps. The same theory works for dry brushing. If you’re getting too much color. Your brush is too wet. If it’s not applying enough color? Add more moisture.

I like the idea of capturing your journey of the hobby. I think I see a little frustration in spots? That’s okay! Something someone said that really helped me get to where I’m at. There’s a “gap” that you have to cross. The gap is how your model ends up. You have an idea of how you want it to look, compared to how it looks when you’re done. That’s the gap you have to cross. But if you keep going and don’t give up. You’ll cross the gap! Each model you paint. You get a little bit closer. And you’ll learn and apply new skills along the way. Even if you’re not totally in love with your model? You be surprised you’ll almost force yourself to improve. And then it will just click! You’ll find new ways of approaching it and replacing how you went about it before. I hope you don’t stop. I watch you paint. You have a fan in me.😁

Yes I had these as a kid - I’m 51 - but their first kit for plastic was the skeleton horde box that thing was great - it had I think - 20 skeleto warriors 5 cavalry and a chariot

Paint it up with modern paints would look amazing.
