The signed knife
Переглядів 4613 роки тому
We were asked to make this knife as a birthday gift and include 16 signatures to be engraved on the blade. Which meant 16 custom pieces of graphic design work to clean up and make each signature viable for engraving. An interesting and challenging project but one that's come out better than we could have hoped. It has also created a new service that we can now offer; signatures on any knife bla...

Who has a surface grinder ? Useless vid
It is not a how to video its an insight into how we do things here. Useless comment...
That’s awaome
Nice, but why a scandi grind on a hunting knife profile?
I have an electric scooter and it'll like to get the parts polished can you do that? Also needs the paint to cone off also.
Somewhat out of our wheelhouse, there are companies that only do polishing.
full hd 😄
Beautiful handle material
Chainmail, eh. This is why I stop at a satin hand finish, lol. Nice work!
Impressive polishing but I'm glad to see you're someone doing this hobby safely. It's tragic to hear how people have lost their lives due to a knife flying into their chest
source? this happening is more than unlikely he's wearing PPE so grains of sand that are being blasted around don't fly into his eyes
@@PerspectivEs Hardly unlikely, its the most dangerous tool in the shop a moments inattention or distraction can result in serious injury or worse, anyone who does polishing often will likely bare few scars from either the wheel it self or the work piece. Also... no sand involved.
@PerspectivEs Don't be lazy, search it yourself. It's very real.
Currently doing my rex 45 para 3 blade (why did i pick such a hard steel?!) Im doing it completely by hand and am at 1500 grit hand sanding, just starting to really reflect and once my dismond paste comes ill sand to 5000 grit then polish
Yea we all have a surface grinder at home!😅
Its not a how to video, its a how we do. Besides you can do the same without the surface grinder, sandpaper and elbow grease will get you there.
Wow.....well done to and your team....next level
what about the different faux ivories?
We do not use a lot of it and do not offer it as a standard option, although will use it if asked/required also and the video can only be so long.
Any buloke?
All woods, but can only cover so much in the video
@@EmberleafWorkshop Thanks, I am looking at getting a buloke and acacia peuce (now a protected species) handled kephart style. The buloke as an insert in the acacia in the style of an arrowhead. I am travelling up north to see if I can get the acacia. It is likely to be from an old fence post or indigenous peoples old weaponry. I will be back in a few months and will then reach out. PS the woodlore and woodlore pro that you make are flawless and functional!
@@feartheduck6664 Very interesting I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
That is just stunning. Proper craftsmanship. You're a credit to yourselves. Cheers.
Hardly a hobby shop. The rest of us have to rely on elbow grease.
Never once suggested it was a hobby shop, just showing our own process.
Hey make. Do you have the time to leborate on your polishing work? I do polisch my knifes on the machine to, and two weeks ago one of my knifes cut my stomach open and I needed several stitches. Today was the first day that I whent back to my shop, standing in from of my maschine and asking myself what whent wrong. Anyway, I have to Idea. Then I saw your video and you where holding the knife diagonal to the wheel. Isn't it way to dangeros? I think I could not held the knife like this without the mashine pushing the knife out. Anyway, I would have like to hear some more details.
We actually wear body armour, chain mail and ballistic masks, along with slash clothing to stop such things, its about muscle memory really, understanding how to apply the pressure and how much paste to use, however things with hard corners or complex bevels will be harder to polish as they will want to pull out of your hand. Sorry to hear you have been injured. The polisher is the most dangerous piece of kit in the shop by far, always respect it. That said as a knife maker you have to accept that its only a matter of time before you cut yourself! You can clearly see the chainmail at ua-cam.com/video/gku1gRa6-vY/v-deo.html
@@EmberleafWorkshop got myself some protective gear to a view days ago.
Holy shit nice work, impressive polish at the end.
Very nice
Didn't see any stone either other than the mammoth products.
Can only cover so much in the video, keeping to the broad strokes, but anything is viable. Like I said in the video, if it exists we can bolt a knife to it in some manner!
Jesus thats allot of tools ha, awesome job
Luar biasa... mantap
I did come to the shooting show, whereupon i bought one of your beautiful knives a Cael V2, having wanted one for a long time. it is a true work of art, worth every penny.
Bob Phillips I bought an Emberleaf Cael at the Shooting Show yesterday 19thFebruary 2023. Having wanted one for ages. What a knife, truly stunning. The finest craftsmanship imaginable There is a saying that "the price is soon forgotten but the quality endures". Worth every penny.
Thanks I hate that video. I think I'm not that interested into your " art knifes"
What do you mean by art knife? Please elaborate..
Thanks for the very thorough description of everything going on.
what kind of polishing pads do you use? felt? what paste? thank you greetings
stunning set up one box of dreams there
Very nice work! That's the finish I've been chasing after for a while. Can you please list the specific compounds used and the type of wheels?
On the camera it might look like perfect mirror but trust me its not.. It take compounds to bring it to absolute mirror.. I polished my cpm 4v to 0.25micron and i dont polish knives for looking cool but to close pores and even tool steel will resist rust almost like stainless.. But its not worth the time cause its pretty easy to scratch it
@George Young Thank you. I don't like mirror either, but there are always customers who ask for it despite my advising against it.
No way. The bevels are first. After that Polishing!
Whers'the knife angle?
Hmmmmm...........What's the purpose of polishing the blade. 99.9% of the time a knife is going to be either in a sheath or folded in your pocket. The rest of the time you'll be using it.
Craftsmanship
It's not about 18th century it's about BCE
Are any seashells okay for knife making? I know that they can often be thin, but there are really big clams where I live and they're used to make wampum (a fine type of native American craft material to make decorative jewelry)
Ive used them cast in resin but that's about it, but mother of pearl and various others can be used as inlays
Unreal lads as always a touch above the rest
Can you tell what grits were used?
he used p2000
Cheers for that ..
Kaha milegi
can you buff katana that way ?
No mother of pearl?
Dude what compounds were you using?
Aluminium and Chromium Oxide..

Can you tell me where to get the raffia material? Or their website or hoe you spell it..... I can't find it!☹️
I have 2 of your knives - brilliant to see where and by whom they were made.
Lord Krishna is also there on your weapon
