I grew up in the valley and enjoyed it. I’m now in Flagstaff and definitely prefer colder temps for 4-5 months over 6-7 months of heat. Phoenix just broke the average high temp for December. It keeps getting more hot and even the saguaros are getting stressed.

Having Moved from Glendale to Texas 19 years ago, you present good info and perspective to those who are looking to move to the area. Some of your cons such as school system are actually a plus for homeschoolers. It's all about perspective & needs. If we were to move back to AZ we'd probablility move to remote alpine areas near Flagstaff or remote areas of the Mogollon rim or Kingman

What the hell are you doing to your car that a battery only lasts two years? I've had batteries last 4-5 years on average. Also, that attitude of "the drivers here suck" is the problem with drivers everywhere. People come in from other states and expect everyone to drive just like them and don't know how to adapt to how people are driving around them. I used to drive Semi's and every town has its quirks. If you're a good driver, you adapt to them rather than expecting them to adapt to you. Although, I will admit that people lose their fucking minds when it rains... it doesn't happen often, but when it does people act like nothing has changed or it's their first time out driving...

Piss, bitch, and moan! 🤣 🤣 Been here since 1978. This was a little hick town back then. Gonna overtake Houston for 4th largest city next year. All we had was 2 lane I-10 but wasn't completed and 3 lane I-17 to Peoria and then 2 lanes. No other freeways, not even Loop 101 , 202, & 303, AZ-51, 143, or US 60 Superstition! Houses didn't appreciate 10% over 25 years! Be glad the cold water is warm in summer. Less $$ to pay to heat it so you can pay the A/C bill! Monsoon season is always 3-4 months in summer for western North America. Outside of 5-6 months of hell, we got awesome spring, fall, & winter temperatures and snowbirds envy us! Would you rather have a -35F Midwest winter with blizzards year upon year? Or tornadoes frequently? So it's dusty in exchange too. Snow is only 45 minutes north on I-17 if you want it in winter. Or in Carefree if the snow line drops to 3,000 ft. Golf is for snowbirds. Lots more things to do in AZ that other states don't have. Be grateful you moved here. You did something right. AZ has done everything desireable that made it the huge draw it was/still is.

Water conservation is a huge part of the city’s plans - watering grass can get a little high, so it really varies on use :) Overall the city uses the same amount as they did in the 1950s!
