I've been using CapCut on my PC to edit videos, and it's incredibly useful. The interface is user-friendly, and the editing tools are powerful and intuitive. It makes the whole video editing process smooth and efficient. Highly recommend it!
Im learning to book bind and your tutorials have all been absolutely amazing. I had no idea where to start! But now I feel prepared and ready to go! I’m super excited and will keep watching to help me improve!
Hello (and thank you for the wonderful tutorial!), the measurements you give are super helpful, but I'm not sure what math or magic went into deciding on -3mm for the width, would you mind explaining? The reason I ask is because I would like to do smaller hinges (5mm), as my book is quite thin, and I'm not sure how to puzzle out the adjustment T^T
Which silhouette cutter do you have? I’m looking to purchase one but I don’t understand the differences between each model. Thanks ❤
GREAT video tutorial!! Thank you so much!!❤😊
I did everything exactly right and I was confused when my front and back boards were way too short width wise. I measured and remeasured and then finally I realized it wasn't me and it was the hinge tool I bought-- yours is 1cm and mine is like 4mm. Oops! How can I redo the math to account for a 4mm hinge instead? I'm not a math girly and I don't really understand where the + and - numbers come from.
That’s a +3mm to the width to match the video dimensions I think. Where the -3 comes from is “1cm” - 3mm = 7mm So “4mm” + 3mm = 7mm
This is just amazing. You are very talented !
Hello ! Thanks for this video it's super well explained ! I would like to try to do a hard cover, but I don't have a cricket machine, do you think it's possible to make a design without it? I have wanted one for ages but it's a bug budget and I always end up by spending money for more "useful" things or for others 😂 Sorry about my poor English
if the board is only 1.8mm thick, why do you add on 3mm for the spine? thanks 🙂
The winged keys are definitely in the Philosophers Stone?!
I read Harry Potter when I was younger but I’m sure they were in the Philosophers stone! Before the chess scene as the trio make their way to the stone I believe..
Yeah so? She said that she just wanted to make the series look coherent in the shelf, so the covers don't necessarily reflect the contents of the book.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but was your board width really narrower than the text block? If I deciphered the screen shot correctly please explain why. I’ve watched your explanation in the video but it still makes me nervous. 😢 I’ve never seen that before. Thank you for your time.
Hi. Not sure if I'll get a reply so long after the video was posted, but how would you go about binding multiple books into the one hardcover (comic trade paperbacks) From what I can see here, the book is only being held in place by the covers on each end, so if there were multiple books bound, then the middle books would float. Have I got that right?
omg!! thank you I been buying up materials slowly (still missing a few) but I will try this out with a used book since I am scared haha
BEAUTIFUL
Hi Mull doesn't seem to be available near me, and is not available at the store you list. Is there an alternative please? I really enjoyed your videos and would love to try, following your tutorials 😊
How do you get the vinyl to stick without the glue from the cover coming through? When I use a light pressure, it doesnt stick. I used heavier pressure for longer, and the vinyl stuck but the glue came through and ruined things. Ive literally done this 9 times and it keeps happening - either not sticking or glue splooging. I followed your tips and got the mini press, use it on level 2, and burnish between, but still no go. Help??
Can you send silhouette designs to cricut or save them and import them to cricuts? This software seems much more user friendly then my cricut but I am still new to cricut and getting used to it 😂
Can I ask what kind of fabric you use? I’m having such a tough time finding one
Newbie question. How do you determine how big to make your hinge? Does the size of the book determine that?
OMG they look so pretty, could you possibly create a short with the whole of this series placed together? theyd look so beautiful
Very nice!
Helpful!
What would you suggest using if you just want an easy, less expensive way to gold foil?
Hi, can you please share where you get your book fabric?
Thank you for this amazing real-time tutorial. Quick question: would the steps be the same for a leather cover instead of this type of paper?
What’s the name of that strong fabric I can’t tell what you’re saying
How did you make the head and ends bends?
This series was beyond helpful for my friend and I during our girls' weekend! So informative and easy to follow. We both made two books with many many plans to make more! And I also had the honor of the author of one of the books I rebound actually reposting it on her Instagram (forever gonna fangirl about it)
Love this.
This makes me feel delusional. Like... is this my next hyper fixation?
I tried this with the border for my book design but when I upload it to cricut it completely disappears. Any tips? Thanks!
It was feeling possible until the silhouette part :( those are expensive
LITERALLY!! :(
Do you commission your work? I tend to read books that only like having a "smaller" collection (say ~ 200 books) that I actually would like a great binding for them. My taste is eclectic and ranges from philosophy, to religion, to treatise on war strategy and politics (Art of War, A Book Of Five Rings, Modern Strategy), and that leads to politics, the Malleus Maleficarum, Marquis de Sade, on into The Prince, some of Kafka's works, The Divine Comedy, The Bhagavad Gita, and so may more too numerous to name). It appears you have a talent for your skill, and preserving literature to the best of my ability, is something I prefer to do instead of holding cold, tablets with no smell of the time it took to assemble and craft a high quity piece of artistry. If you work on commissions, or are available on ETSY, I would be most interested in converting something I may eventually give an heirloom they may grow to appreciate over time! I am most impressed with your dedication and your commitment to your craft! 👏👏👏👍
Does anyone know how to convert my canva cover design into cricut?
If you don’t want to use the trace and cut feature, you can download your cover as an SVG file which you can directly import into the design space 😊
Where’s the Authors name? It’s disrespectful to not include JKR’s name on her work.
It’s on the spine!
@aboundbindery I really love the new covers of the Harry Potter books you have made in this video. Unfortunately I can’t buy the books from you due to that I work in a place for people with various disabilities and I do not earn money on my work. I do love Harry Potter. 😊
Super job showing this process! Clear, concise, and thorough! I tried watching someone else's video and they made it seem so complicated that I stopped watching and just gave up, really.
problem is not all chip board is cut straight by the manufacture so you have to cut in the middle to get good sides and edges. lol
I’m just starting my book binding journey and your videos were so easily to follow along with and has made me so excited to get started!!! 😍😍😍
which kind of cloth you used
I'd really love to know how long the vinyl lasts. Does it peel off in time?
I use Cricut, but the canva design bit was super helpful. Ty! Do you ever make your canva designs public that others can use as well? I've been on the lookout for a good HP design that I like, and the border creation you use is something I hadn't thought of myself <3.
Hello ! Thanls for the video! I would like to use transfer paper because I don't have a cutting machine like yours, but last time I tried the paper that had no ink to transfer left stains on my book cover. Do you have any solution? 😊
I had the same experience :(
Thank you so much❤ It's very helpful😊
canva supports genoside
would this work if we were writing orignal books
Not sure if you've found out by now or not, but you can bring them all into the same page by choosing merge instead of open when you want to choose the second and third pages :) To change from inches to mm, you go to Edit, then Preferences and then choose mm on the drop down for Unit of Measurement.
Wow amazing work! Love it!
I love how you are so detail-conscious. I have a very important book that I need to rebind and will use your tips to get it back together. Thank you.
I really love all of your videos with how detailed you are in them! Thank you for sharing!
