Remington Steele Trailer - Son of Steele
With all the talk of a "reboot" of Remington Steele, I thought I'd make my own version of the story I would like to see told (which probably won't happen, but hey, at least I made an attempt :)).
The basic premise is that Steele and Laura have a son who is confronted with his parents' past and is experiencing some of the consequences of having Private Eyes for parents. There's also a lot of flashbacks to explain what happened when their son was a boy. It is implied that, at some point, Steele is forced to leave to confront a threat to the family. While he does return, he is constantly forced in and out of the lives of Laura and his son. His latest return brings with it great ramifications.
I love Joseph Gordon Levitt and when I saw he did a movie with Stephanie Zimbalist ("The Great Elephant Escape"), I knew this could make a good "trailer." If you look at his work, he can be both suave/dapper & funny. I also think he could pull off being their kid, as he has the handsomeness of Steele and kind of looks like Laura. This was a bit more of a serious trailer, but maybe one day I'll be able to make one w/JGL that's more lighthearted.

Also, I understand some of the audio was difficult to make out (some of the audio quality really poor and hard to manipulate), so here are the lines, from first to last:
1. "It was a long time ago, when I was a kid..."
2. "You can't change who your parents are. The only thing you can change is how you choose to deal with them."
3. "My dad gave me this watch too."
4. "There's something about your father you don't know." (When I caught that clip of Doris Roberts saying that in "Everybody Loves Raymond" I knew I had to find a way to use it :)).
5. "Maybe it's time I cut you free of this. Met this bugger on my own."
"You mean leave?"
"Well at least that way he couldn't pull you down with me now could he?"
6. "I know I haven't always been the greatest dad in the world."
7. "I've invested far too much to allow either of you to walk away from this."
8. "Does mom know that you're here?"
9. "All the lies, the heartache, everything..."
10. "You think you're the first one to lose anything? You think that whatever you feel in your heart I don't also feel it in mine?"
11. "Might be time to get some fresh air, start paying attention to the details. Some of those details might need your help."

I wouldn't mind seeing a RS reunion myself, but Pierce already tried several years ago to produce & finance a Remington Steele movie. His production company couldn't find any takers and the effort ceased. So unless there is an incredibly wealthy individual who wants to put up some serious coin to front 2 80's TV characters whose actors are now in their 70's, you might get something made for Amazon or the Hallmark Channel. The premise and story line would have to be pretty dog gone good to make it work and can you still get the same sense of humor & movie quotes into a updated revisit? Hard to say, times have changed.
This was well done. Now I want to go back to watch the season again. FWIW: Pierce did try to create a Steele reunion movie through his production company, but no one would back it.
Rewatching the show. That was a nice little ending.

I recently watch RS again, I'd never seen it complete when a was a child. I think this video is much better than the final episode :). I didn't like how the series ended, they had a very well developed romance story and they ruined it by adding a third man. Bravo for this video!
