Brent English, President of Robust Tools, gives you a tour of the shop where Robust lathes and accessories are manufactured.
Hola buenas tardes. Saludos.
Very innovative and interesting tool Brent. I've thought about making something similar in the past but never did. Maybe I should be on your design team. ; - )
Thanks Tim !
Nicely done Brent. (Alan Z. here)
600.00 for a steady rest? Your all are crazy!
Howdy, lucky for us, there are people that think getting something of good quality is worth the extra money.
@@robusttools9505 , you guys do put out good quality goods. Say, perhaps adding an upgrade kit for us to install a hinge. I do prefer my steady rests to open.
That's a mighty incredible tool. Lathes have been around for so long and this is the first innovation I've seen. Kudos to the people at Robust and their employees who made this happen.
Great Idea. New Vidio needs a link to the Tru-Arc on your site. I looked for it but cannot find it.
Hi, thanks for your note. We'll have this on our website next week ! If you want pricing or more info, feel free to email us or call us at the number at the top of our web pages. We have these in stock !
I’ll confirm that ring drive provides adequate torque for driving a split off piece of log that wants to become a bowl of the size shown. I prefer it to mounting a face plate. The unevenness of a split surface being driven is generally not a problem. Safety advantage. Alignment advantage. I’m not feeling the need for a dedicated screw chuck with this system. Maybe if I was a professional turner?
I want to buy. But not possible because of money and lm living in Türkie 🇹🇷
Do Robust have any tool rest suppliers in France? If not in the UK?
Thanks for your inquiry. We have a dealer in France, but they only carry the lathes: www.bordet.fr. Our dealer in the UK, Axminster, carries most of our toolrests: www.axminstertools.com. Kind regards
I'm glad I watched the video. I hadn't been checking with a square when I put the steady rest on. I've only used it a couple of times on my Sweet 16, but I'm sure it will give better support with those adjustments.
Thanks for the feedback !
I finally got disgusted enough with my 12' rest that I ordered the Robust last night and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
An important little video. Well done Sam
Thanks for the kind words Sam !
My favorite lathe. And my dream lathe! If I ever win the lottery I’ll be getting one! The best looking lathe out there. Ron
Thanks Ron ! We'll be ready when you are !
Same! But, at 10K, I don't think it will happen for me. I will have to go with another. ;(
@@robusttools9505 Thank you 😊
How many amps does the 1 1/2 take
Hi Garth, for either 110 or 220 a 15 amp circuit is just fine. Please contact us through our website if you have additional questions, we'll be happy to help you !
Brent, Excellent video! Some of our club (ArkLaTex woodturners) members were asking about my Sweet 16. I will recommend this video to our club. Thank you. Take care, Charles
This caster set is a good investment when you buy the Sweet 16. I purchase mine with my Sweet 16 and really enjoy the mobility they provide to my lathe in the shop.
I'm love my other Robust turning tools and I'm looking for a spear point scraper, can it be ground negative rake?
You can grind it negative rake if you'd like. You will remove the nitriding treatment, but you'll still have quality High Speed Steel underneath.
I knew you guys were making bowl and spindle gouges (I have the spindle gouge and I love it), but I didn't know were making scrapers to! now I'm going to have to get the scrapers and the bowl gouge!
With it being April Fool’s day I thought you’d show other uses for the skew: opening paint cans, unscrewing rusty bolts, picking gum out of shoes, or worse yet, negative rake scraping! 😜😬🤣
You forgot digging onions!😂 As you probably know, the skew is one of the most misunderstood woodturning tools, but in the hands of a master, beautiful things can happen.
@@robusttools9505 absolutely! I’m thankful I no longer fear the skew and I use it often.
Did I miss the mention of the threaded end that can accommodate a draw bar for special fixtures?😊
Hi Christian, you are right ! The small end of the Morse Taper is threaded 3/8-16. Thanks for pointing that out !
Amazing USA quality. Keep those quality welders! Thank you for making and keeping up production of such quality items.
Thanks, will do!
Wow! I'm a man of simple tastes. I like the very best,. So obviously, my heart was set on the Robust American Beauty. But that same heart was broken each time I added up all the must have options and arrived at a price that 51 years of experience warned me that my marriage would not survive. But after seeing the versatility of the Scout there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel. Or maybe that's just the flashlight that my divorce attorney is holding. All kidding aside, with the seated option made possible by the ingenious stand of the Scout (bad back limits standing) it may just be the Best after all.
Thanks for the kind words Carson !
A great Video Brent! I am glad to see where my American Beauty was born. But I am still waiting on the cheese curds and Leinenkugel....😁
Fun to watch. You get what you pay for! Looking forward to getting my new lathe in a few more weeks.
Nick is not only a pro turner, but he runs a demo and directs the cameras like a pro too. Very enjoyable to watch. Seeing how the AB is made was awesome too. Thanks for posting this.
Waiting anxiously at the end of my driveway for delivery of my new Sweet 16! It’s not due to ship until December but it’s not very cold here so I should be fine…
Some of you have been asking about the handheld tachometer mentioned in the video. Here is the link: www.amazon.com/dp/B004Q8L894?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_tab_ap_product_details -- We have no affiliation with this company, so can provide no assistance on this item. There are similar ones available, and this is just one that we heard works well and is inexpensive.
Hi Folks, as mentioned in the video, unclaimed door prizes have been donated to our local American Association of Woodturners chapter for their fundraising efforts. Sorry if you missed out, but this video will probably be on UA-cam for sometime, and we can't hold these items forever. Sorry. Thanks to everybody for watching.
Thanks for sharing have a blessed day in the name of Jesus Christ
Very cool thanks for the tour. Wish I could afford one!
My Sweet 16 is a great lathe. Impressed by the shop tour.
The designs of the Robust lathes is ingenious!!
I finally found a straightforward simple quick change solution, collets like I use at work. Leave it to Robust!! :=) Will be purchasing this one.
Been looking at the roust lathes but can't find anyone in the uk. As the price list is from 2017 I think it said also where can I get price updates too
That looks like a great product.
Outstanding. Will be buying one.
Can you get these in England?
This is amazing.
😊
Where does one purchase the tools?
Jerry, we have them on our website for purchase: www.turnrobust.com Thank you.
Thanks Brent English, that was the first place I looked. But, no luck. I’ll try again.
Jerry, select "Accessories" from the tabs on the home page, and then select "Tool Handles" from the drop down menu. When you get to the Tool Handles page, scroll down a bit to add items to your shopping cart.
I’m a big fan of handles with removable tools. This looks much more convenient than the set screw setup that I have for some of mine.
Wow I absolutely love it.. guess I better start saving my Penny's lol! Wish I lived near your shop I would love to try it out.. Webster NY is not a 10 minute drive from you lol
Where do I find the prices for your lathes?
Please go the website, turnrobust.com, there is a link to a price list on the lower left corner of the home page. Also, each of the lathe pages have a tab called "select options". Pricing is there too.
