It would be great if a similar chart can be made on the cost of generating electricity. Due to technological improvements and scaling, I expect cost per solar unit to drop considerably, but you are building and replacing a lot more units now. Moreover, you need to account for initial funding to jumpstart the infrastructure - electric cars were terrible a decade ago in many countries due to lack of infrastructure (charging points), obviously it is better now - the improvement is not free. Such a chart might also give some clues to whether some countries have inherently bad environments for solar panels. Lack of sunlight incidence, pollutants, weather events can reduce the effectiveness and lifespan of a panel.

This is complete BS. Military budgets are not defined the same for every country and therefore are not comparable. Military R&D is included in the US defense budget for example, while much of Chima's is dome off the books by state owned businesses. The correct way would be to show output, not input, but that would be politically unpopular because it would show Chima equaling or exceeding the US.

Hmm. The first solar power generators were made in the 1860s. By 1884 in NYC you had rooftop solar. You had production silicon wafer-based solar in 1957. By the 1970s you had water based solar. A decade later China proved you could do silicon solar at costs that were competitive with water based solar. The mid 1990s is when rooftop silicon solar took off. The start of this chart (and the fact that it is very likely silicon only) seems arbitrary. Why did you choose to start then?

Compare by wind power per pop please. The mining part is lacking in the drawing IMHO, as well as the fossil generated (gaz being widely used) to keep the grid running when wind gets low. Last, is it really power *generated* (as per the graph title) or *capacity* ?
