    If a filling falls out, you can use a small piece of sugar-free gum as a temporary filling. Of course, best if the toothache is on the bottom and not the top. Also, aspirin dissolved on a cavity works for pain. Wazoo has a really nice water bag.

    A number of the bottle pouches have similar snap molle straps. The Pathfinder model, and a few others. Orca makes a bottle pouch that holds my entire cooking and eating kit, including a small fuel cannister in the bottom section. Yes, it's larger but it can ride the belt, outside the pack, or inside the pack. I use one of those Spanker holders on the front strap of my pack for the 32 oz bottle I'm currently drinking from.

    I just got some of those pill containers you put on your key ring. O-ring sealed. Want to put tinder in it. I am thinking of potassium permanganate but wonder if you have any suggestions for effective yet small volume tinder?

    • @Pineboxperspective
      @Pineboxperspective 9 днів тому

      Honestly, that would be about the smallest substance, I would think. Aside from black powder.I personally would be weary of that in a key chain if it is the threaded capsule type since key chains move around alot. If I'm not mistaken, the permanagate isn't supposed to make contact with skin. Also, i thought it had to be mixed with something. Correct me if im wrong. A lot of folks like achohol stoves but, I never bought one because I'd probably spill it in my bag somehow. Ha. The tinder tabs are the smallest thing I use. Wish I could be more help. If you go that route let me know how it works out for you.

    Nice kit, very comprehensive. Personally, I prefer to have the bottle carrier with the pouch. That way I don’t have to take out the supplies to add water. I do like that bottle carrier a lot though. Perhaps a foldable dump pouch could be attached to carry everything when you fill it with water.

    Good suggestion. Glad to see someone mention binoculars. I keep a pair in the car at all times. Couple of suggestions. A small trowel. Can be used to dig for worms as bait for fishing, or if you’re on the coast you can dig for clams. Can also be used for multiple digging chores that may arise. Keep a few pair of latex gloves for handling wet items or protecting your hands from grease, toxic chemicals or other contaminants. A pair of work gloves too.

    I think yer thinking too small. I'd personally do a belt pack that'd hold a 1L stainless bottle with a nesting cup on the outside. and the bag be 4L at the smallest. It's still easily carriable on the belt, and you can carry a more comprehensible kit. The people that don't carry a kit aren't going to carry any kit. You've heard the saying "you get what you pay for" I like the saying "You get what you ask for". Which more or less means that you can't help a person that don't want to be helped. I'm all about helping my fellow man, but they have to want to be helped and will also put effort into helping themselves. I gave up on helping people that don't use common sense in every day life.
