I worked on this game! I was one of the compositors/editors that put all the cutscenes together. I'm also one of the bad guys in black @7:25 which I totally forgot about until now! haha This was my second game at Looking Glass and it was so much fun. At the time, most computers could not decode MPEG compression, so we used an 8-bit video compressor known as "Smacker," which is why the movies are so pixely. I always thought this game RULED and glad to see people still enjoying it! Thanks for posting!

Oh man…I remember this one, haha! This was literally the first PC game I ever played, back when I was five years old. I don’t really recall how it went, but I do remember very vaguely failing to advance at both this and the campaign of Mechwarrior 2, haha. Now that you got that graphic upgrade, it actually looks pretty decent. Thanks for sharing!

I loved mechwarrior 2. I really did not like mechwarrior 3. I love all the mechwarrior 4 games, and mechwarrior online in the first 2 years.

I lent my MW2: Mercenaries to a friend, never saw it again.

I had a choice between 2 games, Mechwarrior 2 and WipeOut. I chose Mechwarrior 2. I bought it before my parents got the PC. I still have the cd. Then I got MW2: Mercenaries. My 2 favourite games. Wish I could get it to work on my PC.

The fact that i had 0 idea what GunGriffon was, but ive been playing HIGH-MACS Simulator on and off all this time its insane. i mean HIGH MACS its the closest thing to my dream of a "Realistic as possible mech game" a mix between Armored Core and War Thunder

If you want the BEST of times, Please try HARDCORE MECHA it feels like one of the BEST mech games I've ever played. Secondly, did you ever play Ironblood on the MS-Dos?

the graphics of the landscape were just awesome back then. water surfaces even had limited reflections iirc.

Thank you for showing this one. I’m not a console gamer, so I had no idea this existed. It is interesting to see how this compares to something like the gameplay in Mechassault a few years later.

Terra Nova is the real Starship Troopers game.

MetalMercs is a game that's been on my radar for a few months though I'm waiting for a more updated demo before I hop in. Otherwise I am really excited to see where this game goes. Oh and ummmm, so long as you're looking over demos that fall under this channels usual content then I do highly recommend checking out the new Kriegsfront Tactics demo. Even if you don't cover it, I think you'll enjoy it. It's basically Front Mission but set in a alternate version of the Vietnam War.

Huh, I owned this as a kid, but my Mom got the copy from Funcoland so it was used. No box art, and a sticker covered the.... cover art on the actual cartridge, so I never saw that art. I just always knew it as a mech game. I guess I understand your missing it as a mech game now that you showed it off. Y'know, I sort of enjoyed it; it was a very late NES get for me, so even as a kid I knew it was simplistic..... but I liked punching things as a robot dinosaur, what can I say? Kung-Fu was successful and that is literally just punching and kicking, so... this simplistic formula could entertain kids back in the day, somehow. If just for a very short window of a year or two before games got much more advanced, interesting, ambitious and/or polished. Still, it has a character named Dr. Brainius. Don't care what you say, it's 10/10 😄

Huh, see that gamera dub i've only ever known as a goofy parody dub jammed into the special features of Attack of Legion, could not imagine watching that movie for the first time with that being the dub.

Best MW game to date imho. That epic intro by Digital Domain is still best intro of all time for me.

I remember playing this when it came out. Regarding the graphics, I think there was more to it than just 2D sprites. I remember that your squasmates' limbs for example all were independently articulated. It also had some kind of complex weather system and attention to detail - during a rainy mission, you could count the seconds between flash and thunder to estimate the distance to a thunderstorm.

Aw I love the idea of highlighting games sent by your viewers! This looks really impressive for a fan project - hopefully they continue to develop it beyond the demo!

Man, we mech fans be eating good rn. Front Mission 2 Remake is fixed enough now to be playable, new Daemon Ex Machina is in the works, Gundam Breaker 4 is gonna be out soon, same with Mechwarrior 5: Clans, Kriegsfront just released their demo,...

The pilot portraits look out of place. A quick read of the Steam page states they generated by AI and are stand-ins/placeholders. This looks interesting, but I don't have the hardware to play it. I'm still putting it on my wishlist.

I remember when this game first popped up on a Sarna article. Its really impressive for a fan game, much like alot of the Armored Core/Gungriffon/Battletech fan games
