Kyushu road trip, day 3: Beppu & Yufuin
Our epic Kyushu road trip adventure continues on day 3! Exploring Beppu by car, the hot spring and onsen capital of Japan, and visit the beautiful mountain village of Yufuin Onsen in this Japan travel vlog.
We start the day with a relaxing soak in the private onsen in our hotel room, followed by a traditional Japanese breakfast at the Ryokan Nagomitsuki. Our journey begins in Beppu, where we discover a hotel with gold Torii gates and enjoy breath-taking views from the Yukemuri Observatory.
Next, we explore Kifune Castle, our favourite castle in Japan, and touch the lucky gold snake for good fortune. After admiring the traditional Japanese print art, we relax at the world-renowned Hyotan Onsen, the only 3 Michelin star onsen in the world. Here, we indulge in delicious onsen pudding, cooked with the steam of the onsen, and savour amazing food at the restaurant Yurari.
Our road trip continues as we drive through the scenic mountains of Asokuju National Park, stopping at the Sagiridai Overlook for incredible views. We then explore the charming village of Yufuin, shop for souvenirs on Yunotsubo Street, and take in the beautiful volcanic surroundings.
On our way back to Fukuoka, we enjoy the scenic drive on the Expressway and navigate through Fukuoka's rush hour traffic to return our rental car. We end the day with a delightful dinner at the Yatai's of Fukuoka, enjoying local street food from these traditional open-air food stalls.
Don't miss this exciting leg of our Kyushu road trip! Hit play and join us on this unforgettable adventure.

    Did they have the matsuri games? I've been really saddened by not seeing any in any of the pictures I've looked up as I want to visit this year's one on 6 October. I'll be sad if there aren't any. Also, I really hate that there's this obsession with making everything "family-friendly" in the Western sense. It's just silly.

    • @wegoeast
      @wegoeast 12 днів тому

      We didn't see any matsuri games last year - although I can't say there won't be any this year. Having them would be a great addition, but the event is more of an exposition than a traditional matsuri, which is a shame. Also completely agree with the family friendly thing. The event would be better if it was treated like a proper matsuri, but it would likely be too busy / run into licensing issues (classic UK!)

    いつも思うけど欧米の人って綺麗に食べきらないよね。食物や作り手に対する感謝が見受けられない。

    Probably I think you can change English mode for this car navigatin on setting screen. If you can’t find setting mode, please confirm to person in charge of service counter when you use rent a car. Take care and enjoy sightseeing in Japan.🚗♨️🍙

      Beat me to it! it really was amazing, the footage doesn't do it justice. The next video we'll be uploading (day 2 of this trip) has more footage of it and Kurokawa Onsen town as well

    Thanks, Ashley & Theo, another enjoyable Ja-vlog. Okunoyu does look amazing. It's 4⭐..., but I'd still love to check it out some time . 🐖💰😬😄 Seen the Aso caldera panoramic from the top of Kishima-dake _in spring_ , everything green, and it's _awesome_ , so yes, it's an amazing part of the country (especially if you happen to have an interest in geology and volcanoes, like _moi_ ) Would love to take one day that road you took to climb _out_ of the caldera, but _going in_ (the entrance from the west side on the train is quite spectacular) 🙏
