    Excellent video! I’ve had several ZJs over the years and have experienced these subtle batt drains before. This is the first time I’ve ran across discussion on this. Even with the quirks, ZJs are great and I way prefer them over these new disposable push- button vehicles in production today. Embarrassed to admit, but I’ve got 4 of them scattered around and still in-service.

    Regear the axles and you don't have to worry about the transmission. You do need bigger brakes with them. Plus bigger tires actually increase ground clearance which is needed offroad. Death wobble is from bad maintenance and worn parts. Finally if you like factory ride quality, don't mod it.

  • @jesuszarate3018
    @jesuszarate3018 2 роки тому

    Death wobble will happen in stock tires doesnt matter what size if it happens it happens, stall lock up in a stock transmission doesn’t happen at all just recalibrate your speedometer

    Have you ever had really bad positive camber in the rear? I have a 96 ZJ awd and cannot figure out what’s wrong with it. I keep getting told “something’s bent or broke” do to not being able to adjust camber.

    • @b2zmodz220
      @b2zmodz220 2 роки тому

      if your old jeep front or rear tires have bad camber, might not be anything you can do to fix other than replacing the entire axle. Sounds like your axle is badly bent. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

      I had a rev problem in a old 4 cylinder car and it was a bad ignition Coil. These jeeps have a single ignition coil. Check the engine wire harness that is routed around the back side of the engine at the firewall. Sometimes the wires can be damaged from engine vibrations and cause many random problems.

    Hey best way to check for parasitic draw is doing an amperage draw test. Put your multimeter in amperage mode. Disconnect negative battery cable, hook your multimeter black lead to the battery POST and then hook your red lead to the negative battery CABLE. Give it at least 20 minutes to let all the modules go to sleep and now you can check your amperage draw. 24-50 milliamps is the normal limit for a vehicle. Anything over is considered a parasitic draw.

      The security system ties in with the door locks somewhere down the line. I'm not 100% sure, not even 50% sure because schematics are scarce and the repair manual is worthless in my opinion. The guys at oriiely parts pulled up some schematics for me a while back, maybe you have some luck there.

    • @b2zmodz220
      @b2zmodz220 2 роки тому

      The PCM/power-control-module is responsible primarily responsible for the injectors and coil. The engine tune/programing is inside the PCM and the tune tells every electrical component what to do and how to do it. This is my professional opinion, thanks. Stay safe.

      It did start doing this until after I disconnected the positive battery terminal and unintentionally laid that positive terminal against bare metal ground with the negative still connected to the battery, for 2 or 3 days. After reconnecting the negative terminal, the PCM was dead. Ordered another PCM, everything seemed fine but the dome lights wouldn't go out. Jeep Cherokee pains

    How did you get the thermostat housing off?

    • @b2zmodz220
      @b2zmodz220 2 роки тому

      I disconnected the large thermostat housing hose from the radiator first and left the other end connected to the radiator hosing. Take multiple pictures of Housing and hose before disassembly. It is less of a pain to remove and install the radiator hose on the thermostat while the thermostat housing is off the vehicle. While installing the new radiator hose we had to do some minor cutting, to match factory hose. Use the pictures to reinstall the radiator hose in the exactly same position, angle and depth as the hose removed (if removed or replaced radiator hose) even the hose clamp needs to be in the same position. If parts aren't in the correct position, they will rub and damage Serpentine belts and visa-versa. My thermostat housing has two bolts and one nut (nut installed on a stud). Thanks for watching.
