Oh hey I should probably add a description to this channel huh. Hi I make videos of StarCraft 2 PvE, speedruns, custom maps, custom campaigns... you know, stuff like that.
StarCraft II Co-op: New(ish) Player Solos Mutation: (Artanis)
So I found someone with only about ~12ish co-op games who was willing to join me to solo an easy mutation with a "totally bad" commander. Finding someone with 0 co-op games was hard because there was also the implicit requirement of they had to care enough about a game they'd never ever played to make a video about it.
For anyone wondering, this only took 3 attempts, which also makes this the 3rd co-op game played by our good friend Zero here in the last 2 years.

I built bunkers and missile turrets and I used diamondbacks who got turned into detectors. It's very simple really. Something something, use more brood queens and play more zombie mech man.

I tried this several times with p1, thinking more liberators would be a good thing. Turns out, uh no. Liberators do pretty badly when they can't kill units actually, they need the help from p3 Nova to distract enemies and to heavily soften the objective up.

Amon doesn't want me to kill his units. I don't want him to kill my units. So we basically just stare at eachother awkwardly and I occasionally freeze time and steal one of his somewhat important buildings.

I was told dark templar were a bad option for this mission and you needed to go void rays. I was irrationally offended by void rays. So I used dark templar.

People keep insisting tempests aren't a good weapon for infested busting. I think they're using tempests wrong. Besides, everyone knows Artanis' best infested killer is, depressingly, the vanilla photon cannon.

Okay so this was way easier than expected. I expected it to be at least kinda hard to push into the bases and pop the thrashers, but apparently time stop kinda just says no. I seem to have vastly underestimated the sheer power of p3 Vorazun's swarm of free dark templar.

Oh great, we get to mass Battlecruisers in slow and painful fashion. At least spectres get to make an appearance and do literally the only thing they are at all good for. Also, the psi lash buffs did NOT meet advertising. I was lied to and am disappointed.

Man, you make this look easy. I don't have orbitals yet and this mission is broooootal, once the siege-colossi show up I just crumble. I'm practically savescumming, it's so easy to make a game-ending mistake. Very well played by you!

Yes, there are indeed newer and faster runs. This was the fastest Artanis run when it was completed though.

I dont mean to be rude but since its brutal+6 I expected good artanis gameplay lol, but I was so confused when I saw no forges at 10 minutes and chrono boosts left on nexus all game. Guess it really doesnt take much to beat this lmao

man using the voids to smash the expansion delay your build order in more that two minutes .. i dont use voids to smash the expansion and at 4 minutes mark i have everything ready to go . i have the expansion, the cibernetic core, two gates ( i dont need more ), one robo facility, the dark shrine, 2 stalkers, 2 centrys. at the 4 minutes mark i will only need to build trops or some cannons for multi-tasking ... . At 4 minutes mark you have: "one expansion + one gateway" <--- look how late your build order is ( because of the voids )... The only excuse you have its that you have recorded this 2 years ago, i hope that by now you are better in playing zeratul ..

does clearing the bases on each lane reduce the attack waves?
It has no effect on the attack waves, however it *does* prevent reanimators from spawning on that lane. Most mutator spawned units like reanimators, kill bots, and boom bots will only spawn from enemy structures. As such, destroying all enemy structures with ground pathing to your base will prevent those from spawning.

Are tempests good vs any enemy comp?
Depends what you're using them for, but in this case since the topbar is handling basically all the attack waves, the tempests don't have to worry about comp. They can push bases regardless of race, though Terran is easiest on most maps and Zerg is hardest by quite a bit on most maps.
@@sticksbender4057 I meant if tempests are the best to speedrun VT with Artanis. I'm mainly conserned about viper, infestor and hybrid dominator.

For anyone coming early and having quality issues, sorry about that, i forgot that UA-cam takes days to render videos when it used to take a couple hours. Blame UA-cam for making life hard for smaller creators.

just going to keep commenting - i'm really leaning on these uploads to try and beat some of these on nightmare mode. I mean, I'm taking notes on X supply at Time Y, upgrade timings, tactical details (softening up the xpac before altar 2!). I am definitely glad they are here- other uploads of this campaign are a lot less streamlined and efficient! It's unfortunate that I have to crib so hard but I defiitely give it a solid 5 or 6 hours of trying it myself first. For anyone out there, if you beat this campaign on Hard, you can try individual missions on Brutal/Nightmare without getting hard stuck on that awful unclearable one!

Mad respect for brute forcing (very skillfully) this. I managed to barely complete it only by abusing the heck out of reapers, who get insane bonuses vs. light in WoL campaign apparently. And abbos are light units! The 1/1 Marines out there trying to gun down 450 HP 4 Armor Abberations.. no fun.
This was so fast I thought it was sped up.
Are you using some map in the arcade mode to play solo coop missions?
Correct. The goal is that they are as close to co-op as possible aside from the removal of the ally.
Can i get the name of the arcade map?

Nice to see this mastery showcased, the double gas costs and most enemy having air units mean it's hardly ever used. I know its hard when your soloing as it feels like the game is faster than co-op but.... UA-cam comment critic :) I Would like to see some better strike fighter usage. -You can Eyeball hit the attack waves before you get vision just after they spawn, then use the fire vision to clean them up. With an all ground comp like this you shouldn't have needed to intercept the attack waves at your base with gallions and trade army like you did for most attack waves. 2-4 fighters should have killed them near the spawn or on-route. -I also dislike using strike fighters "locked on units and structures" looks like too much playing p1 with no Strike Fighter radius mastery. you wasted strike fighters, eg @14:30 on single missile turret and single siege tank. a single hit in the middle would have killed! same with thor's stood next to bunkers (esp early on when you only have a few)
this worked out very well because of the 15 manual toxic nest detonation trick. i definitely don't expect any pubs (or most players in general) to know this, remember to do this, know where to do this, or save enough toxic nests midgame to do it again.
I... maybe I'm just not paying attention but I don't recall manually detonating a single toxic nest this entire game.
@@sticksbender4057 oh wait, it was the second life, so that didn't matter. still need to know the location and be sure the ally can kill the first life before it reaches that location. also need to know who gets first life on which train.
❤ very cool, polar opposite of the way CtG was doing this. no vipers or ultimate evolutions just raw brute force A move with solid macro. I love the "mineral dump" into mass un-upgraded roaches to keep H&H reapers alive + slow debuff. Also not looking at the first train because you had toxic nests :) like walking away from an explosion in a movie.
