Bill on Bikes
Приєднався 21 чер 2022
Bill is a former Massachusetts Harley-Davidson dealer of 30 years and a master technician. After selling the dealership in 2006, he was offered a position to work for Harley-Davidson at the desert testing facility in Mesa Arizona, but decided not to take the job, so he could concentrate on his nationally syndicated radio show, The Motorcycle Radio Network with co-host Todd Wilson. Bill also became technical editor for Ultimate Motorcycling Magazine and president of American Motorcycle Forensics. After living in Phoenix and having the numerous requests to work on motorcycles in his garage by customers who were just fed-up with the lack of workmanship at the dealer level, he opted to open The Motorcycle Garage at 10846 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix.

Excellent job Bill, all instructions very clear. I will be installing my system from Zippers tomorrow.
So how about a total price conversion I've also fixing the cam tensioners on top of this?
as usual great work Bill, enjoy watching an expert at work, thanks for sharing, looking forward to part 2. Take care
I want to thank you for taking on this screwed up project. Rob is an old and dear friend of mine. I can assure you that his (and our) appreciation is far greater than you may realize. Again, Bill, thank you.
Yes, he truly is a great guy. I felt so bad for him. Stay tuned for part Two. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy New Year!
Lol this is actually My Bike, Motorcycle Garage is the only Shop that gets to work on my bike, you won't find a better Mechanic in Arizona. Thanks Bill 😊
A great video Bill the best in death install that I have ever found , you have not stated where your shop is and would love to have a kit put on my 1997 Road King with the Marelli junk on it I am near the Atlanta Ga are you by chance near there or do you know anyone doing this kit swap over that I may contact
I thought MT was more selective of their installers. Whoever did the install is likely no longer certified.
We can only hope MT would at least train them on a proper installation. Have a Happy New Year.
Exciting
I’ll be able to start working on your bike soon. Thanks
@hdmiko1 that's even more exciting!
Good job buddy. If it weren’t for you Mr. Trike would need a new bike. The paint was one thing but the landing strip around the headlight left me speechless. I would hate to see what else that butcher has worked on. 🏒
This project was a real pain in my ass. I think you will like part two. Thanks Eli. Happy New Year
That's a project! Thank you for the video, nice content as usual
This was not a fun project for sure, thanks for watching and have a happy New Year.
Ouch! Damn there is some real butchers out there
I think some just want to make a quick buck, quality doesn’t matter to them. Thanks and have a Happy New Year.
What a terrible mess
Yup, thanks for watching and have a happy New Year.
Some of us have been working on bikes most of our life and went to mmi got a certificate and still can't work in a shop
I am actually looking at a 06 big dog k9... Can I tell by looking at anything if it has been upgraded?.. What 's total price on having this done if needed..
I hate the Gas Tank Pump filter change, it took me an hr and 30 mins ... 2000 Road King Police . Hey , I just added the Arlen Ness BIG Sucker breather , can i at least keep that with the conversion , or is that useless with the Delphi ?
Dealer dissatisfaction is exactly why I sought out Bill and his shop. Three different Harley dealers in "the valley" did not listen to me. One had the audaciousness to pat me on the back and say "We're Harley, don't worry, we'll take care of you." Yet, after each dealer service, the noise persisted. Bill listened to my bike and knew exactly what was wrong. He went to the back, brought out a box of old parts, and showed me a cam chain tensioner with the groves that would wear into them. Continued wearing would cause them to break up and fall into the oil pump below. Then you could have some serious issues. But I was told "We'll take care of you". Well Bill did with a new after market cam plate with hydraulic tensioners, oil pump to match the needs of the cam plate, and, some "other" tweaks we decided upon including a ThunderMax ECM. Bill is my go-to mechanic. I even asked if he'd work on my parallel twin bike...hey, the brand name starts with an H. He didn't kick me out.........but I'm not gonna push it.
My dads bike🎉 it’s going to me ! lol
Looks great good job
Hey what can I do I got a Big dog chopper 2004 Big dog chopper it runs and then it doesn't want to go what is going on I need a new wire harness I know that but what else can I get to to do that to fix it so when I'm going down the street I don't get stranded for 6 hours
Nice chattin with you today Bill! Good dude right here.
How I would love to have a competent person like you here in Tenerife. I have a BigDog chopper 117 from 2006, and every time I have a problem I have to worry because there isn't a mechanic who works as professionally as I like.
Interesting history. I hope you can find your Boston bruins hat to help keep ya warm lol. 🏒
I really hope that if you end up with that softail you bring her back to original, and thank you for the knowledge you give !
Thank you sir. Let’s see if I end up with the 1988. Thanks for watching
Bdah it ain't an EVO, just scrap it.
The 1988 is an Evolution engine, should I restore or customize? Thanks for watching
@@hdmiko1 customize. there are alot of em out there.
The Softails are Harleys best look.
I totally agree. Still my favorite to this day. Thanks for sharing
I still ride my 1994 Heritage classic which I've had since new. I'll probably never sell it although money talks (in the right amount). It gets compliments always. For longer outings I ride my Limited. I also have a mechanic who works on both with reasonable rates! Life is good! Subscribed.
I remember taking them out of the crates, I would have been 32 years old. Great memories, great bike. Thanks for sharing and subscribing.
Rebuild the 1988 Softail as stock. I have a stock 1988 heritage Softail classic. They have such a classic look to them. It would be good for you mention to your viewers in a future video, that when they drain the horseshoe oil tank to keep the gravity feed lower drain hose loose on the mount nipple add some oil to tank then separate the hose from nipple and allow some oil to drain out this was the drain hose will be full of oil and not air, if you do it this way you remove any air pockets from the drain hose preventing those air pockets from being introduced to the oil. Love the history
Good suggestion, appreciate the comment. Thanks again.
Great content with history 😊
Thanks for the comment.
Bring the 88 back to stock. Guy's are looking for stock evos
Thanks for commenting, I’ll have to wait and see if I end up with the bike. Take care.
That engine is more or less an S&S 88 Evo, right? At least it should be reliable. I remember when they were selling these and I wanted another V-Twin that wasn't a Harley. I looked at them, but bought a 2003 Victory V92, I put over 60,000 miles on that bike, and put over 30,000 on a 2012 Vic Crossroads. After watching you sort the wires, I'm glad I didn't go with a Gilroy.
I bought my 1st Vrod 03, my friend all hot nodded Evuls, me included. Watched the video, making of a V rod. Not too long after, I was the proud owner. It to me a few months to really understand how to ride the V rod and find its performance potential. Not to long after, we lined up 7 of my brothers hopped up evos. Talk about a shocker. The closes Evo was another 7 bikes behind, and my v rod was still building power. I currently own 7 of them. 4 that I ride often, the others I will keep for parts incase I need it. But so far..120k hard miles on my original 03 and still a fast bike. Unfortunately my other friends all own v rods..lol
Not Patents Copy Rights Trade Marks
really interesting video i enjoyed watching
Thank you so much for giving me the name of the 2002 Indian engine name. I was at a dealer tent in 2003 at Myrtle beach bike week where I looked at a brand new one. I have never met anyone who knew what I was talking about when I described the engine on that bike. So now I know.
I own a 2002 Gilroy Chief ,the power plus engine had to go. I replaced it with an S and S twin cam with evo style cases, found electrical issues with the power module as well. Its now a reliable motorcycle
It's good to see an example of excellence rising to the top.
Why bother? These bikes are Junk
Some guys still like them.
Bottle cap. They were junk.
Agree, was a rush to production, never tested properly. Thanks for the comment.
FFS 🙄…waited to hear it run on the ride and yep, you went down the shite music road like so many others in the past, the motor is the music for gods sake.🙄
The Gilroy Indians, especially ones with the PowerPlus engine, looked way better than anything Polaris is making today. They had bright shiny paint with lots of polished aluminum and chrome and NO flat black. Absolutely nothing on earth is uglier than a flat black motorcycle.
I so agree with you. I hate flat black. Actually, don’t really like any of the denim paint. Thanks for watching.
I have a flat black street glide😢
Bill , I recently did my first “ stage II “ on my 2019 FLHTK. I was as nervous as a “cat on a hot tin roof”, but hopefully I covered all the essential details 🙏.
Bill, you kind of answered my question ,“ good bike to putt around on, but wouldn’t take it cross country “ , how reliable is a bike like that ?. You do nice work and seem to love what you do. Many people take for granted how reliable our Harleys are these days.
Yes, the new bikes are so nice, crazy expensive though, thanks for watching and commenting.
Bill, there is zero doubt in my mind that you listened to WBCN and WAAF when you lived in Massachusetts. Great videos, by the way.
I sure did, are those stations still around? Thanks for watching.
@@hdmiko1 BCN and AAF are both gone. They were great stations back in the day.
Good job buddy. The history of all the bikes and issues they had is interesting. 🏒
Thanks buddy. Went to an ASU hockey game last night. So fun.
my !st and only bikes an 03 scout ...18000 miles on it and draws a crowd everywhere i go , other than normal stuff no probs thanks for posting this
Glad to hear you haven’t had many issues. Thanks again for sharing.
Another interesting video with history of the model .
Nice to see a Gilroy Indian Chief, I too had a 2000 Gilroy Indian Chief that I had bought in El Paso, TX from Barnetts Harley-Davidson rode it back to Mobile, AL had it for 4 years really enjoyed the bike then got rid of it when I started to notice a lot of stress cracks in the frame.
Thanks for watching
A shop with integrity.. wish you were in Florida
What's also special, aside from that fancy injection system, is the USMC plate on the back!! Semper Fidelis and Happy Birthday Marines!!
Yes sir! Hope all is well my identical twin.
My 2018 roadglide front head has this illness, when new mentioned it to dealer & told it’s a Harley turn up the radio..😡
