In this review, I trade bike’s with Skip and give an in-ride review of the 2024 Husqvarna TE 300. I’ve heard mixed things about the Beta 4 strokes. I had a similar problem with my 2022 Yamaha 250 FX even with mapping changes. It was difficult to keep running in the slower technical stuff. I love the 350 XCF though idles great and stays running. Even better with lower gearing. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Wow, so much I could say, I know that’s Pennsylvania as I have rode the ECEA Enduro up there for 30 years on and off… Including the foggy mountain breakdown, the one that Jamie of power seal puts on, can’t think of the name of it and the one at cross Forks the national? I have a 23 race edition. I used to do Suspension on the side. E TECH, and I thought the fork was considerably stiffer than the shock. The bike is not balanced. I’m 210 out of the shower and I went up one rate front and rear. And have been messing with valvingI’m very close. If you don’t mind, who did yours? I did not purchase the RK Tech head. I simply sent mine to Kells for a cut. This was an incredibly good mod I don’t see why you would remove the RK tech head. But it does require considerably richer, jetting mine would never run on a JD kit. It would be way too lean. If you don’t mind, send me a link for that headlight switch, I simply took my start, stop button and rolled it upside down to the left side and it’s been working fine for that, of course I silicone the drain hole so no water would get in it. I realize there’s probably a a bunch of guys coming out of the woodwork wanting to come ride with you lol,😅I would just be another if you would have me along sometime next summer I would be grateful. I am near Roanoke, Virginia, and have ridden the VCHSS for 33 years, and have raced New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.🤓 Thanks for the video. Happy trails.

      @ I know I was just kind of being a douche bag, I have a 23 race edition and I have found the fork to be extremely close out of the box for my 210 pounds. Weirdly I found the rear KYB to be very under damped, especially on any kind of rollers. It hops up and down like a 1974 Cadillac😏

      @Weekendwarriorsmoto 7 днів тому

      That’s a great response 😀. Check out my video on the suspension mods. I love the way the bike feels now. I didn’t mind it being stiff mostly but it was really rough on the slower rockier trails. Now it feels great across the different terrain. With a couple clicks on the compression, I can ride fast flow or slow tech. Keep watching and commenting!

    First of all, how many hours does the bike have? For me, after 40 hours, the front softened. second i talked to racetech and put 43kg springs on the front suspension. then lay enough!! but even then it is a bit harsh because that is its use. fast enduro tracks. I personally don't like wp forks at all, I consider them inferior. if his complains about kayaba then he complains about 90% of the motorcycles in the world since almost all manufacturers wear them. Also, you have to ride a motorbike on different terrains and for a much longer time so that the body can adapt to the motorbike. also if you are still wearing the tires it has from the factory they are of no use they are to be thrown away!!! put Michelin medium 2 a very nice tire!!!

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto
      @Weekendwarriorsmoto 11 днів тому

      All great points! At the time of this video there were probably 30 hours on the beta. The suspension was harsh on the technical single track at slower speeds. I had the suspension revalved after this video was made and love the feel of the bike as a result. The tires at the time were IRC VE33S in the rear and M59 in the front. I now use an X31 in the front which has better side traction. Also, if you haven't ridden a KTM with the new WP forks, give one a try. I was told that they are a replica of an older KYB version and feel great. Check out my other videos on my Beta where I cover the mods that I've done and also ride reviews from initial impressions through 20 hour and 50 hour. Let me know what you think about those and thanks for watching and commenting!

    • @steliosapergis
      @steliosapergis 11 днів тому

      @Weekendwarriorsmoto I haven't been lucky enough to ride any recent ktm. the reason is that I was quite disappointed by the company for two things. the first was that I did some experiments to make injection motorcycles. however, the tests were not done in a particular place but left the owners as if they were guinea pigs to see their endurance. as a result of which they have incredible problems with the cylinder and the starter. the fact that they did a recall doesn't mean anything to me because the suffering that the owners went through and the amount they suffer for all this stupid jump to the injection resulted in me personally losing my trust and respect for this company. and so I didn't have never got the curiosity to go try one because i never got the chance to get one. I don't know if you understand me. the second is that the price of the bike is unreasonably high. there at ktm they did very bad management so now they are ready to close for good. and if part of it is not bought by cf moto I don't see it recovering. however, the bike as a bike I believe could have improved suspensions. but thanks to the world that preferred her despite her faults made her indifferent. a thing like bmw and apple. who use their name to sell a bunch of disgusting things and people rush to buy them just for the name.

    I got 215 hours on my 2024 TE 300. Runs like new. The only service item other than consumables ( tires, brake pads, air filter) is that the Crankcase Pressure sensor, a $50 part, needs replacing when performance begins to deteriorate. I’ve replaced 2 so far. Takes 15 minutes. The new gen stiffer frame and excellent open chamber fork work together to deliver less deflection, more precision. The suspension is so good that most riders will only need the correct springs for rider weight, saving a lot of money vs a revalve. Look for prices to drop significantly due to KTM’s money problems and huge inventory overstock situation. I’ve bought 8 new enduro bikes in the last ten years and this one is the best. For your sloppy trails I recommend the IRC VE 33S with Tubliss for the rear wheel. Changing the 45 tooth stock rear sprocket to a 48 makes the bike perfect in the steeps and gnar, and you don’t need a longer chain.

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto

      Well stated! The bike is a great buy and a great performer. There was a VE 33S on the rear when I was riding this bike. It’s a great tire for the trails that we ride. Hard today with so many good choices. You really can find the nuances that best mesh with your ride style. I have the xcw and xc and did own a TE for a year, all great bikes. My xcw is stock, no mods to the motor, pipe or tune but I did turn the PV out and that made it significantly more snappy. My xc was a monster out of the box and then a map update from the dealer seem to de-nut it down low so I add the TSP head and tune and recently the TSP PV cover. This last mod was where the magic happened. It was good, then better and now it's freaking amazing with the cover. Feels very carb like. My buddy's TM (carb) is so good off the bottom coming out of corners and that was the feeling I was looking for and now have. My xc is so nimble at any rpm and absolutely rips.

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto

      That’s a great result with that tsp head. XC and xcw is a great combo. I have the beta re and a 350xcf. It’s fun to switch between the two for different types of riding. N+1. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@Weekendwarriorsmoto My xc is a '23 MY and the original tune was really good, rich enough to have good bottom end and even more up top. The second update was even better but the third was to soft on the bottom. While the TSP tune and head restored what it was under the second map the PV cover brought it all together to have a very carb like feel. Extremely playful on the trail and very tractable.

For the most part all of these 300 2 strokes are nearly equivalent and most of it boils down to the rider and the rider’s preferences. Curious of you have you ridden a regular RR? Everyone seems to want/rave about close cartridge forks, but the reality is that for most people (including myself) a well set up open cartridge setup will work better in the tighter/rougher singletrack like what you're riding in the video. I've ridden a lot of bikes in the past couple of years, and even at my fast B rider race pace, I actually find I prefer open cartridge 80%+ of the time. Yes, can't hammer over bigger hits with impunity, but the fork moves way easier and absorbs the little chop so well that I'm less tired and can ride faster for longer. Unpopular opinion, but I've ridden 3 new KTM bikes now (350, 150, and 300) and I actually don't think the new fork is anything amazing personally. It's different, and a bit more precise feeling, but riding back to back vs. my stock 23 GasGas EC300 (Xplor), I don't feel like I'm faster or more in control.

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto
      @Weekendwarriorsmoto 19 днів тому

      I’ve only ridden the X trainers and not the RR. I did have my race edition suspension revalved along with adding a floating mid valve in the front forks and I really love how they perform. We have many of videos on our channel comparing all of our bikes, including the mods that I’ve done to the beta. I agree with you that the RR off the showroom floor should be better suited to single track and more gnarly enduro riding. I found the stock race edition suspension as stiff for the more technical single track riding and so did the other guys in my group. We have a good mix of stock and modified bikes in our group and some 24 models so lots to compare to.

    I have had my Beta since 2021 and will never go back to KTM Brands. The only other bikes I would consider would be the Sherco 300 or the nee Rieju 300, I will always keep my Beta though it is so smooth and tractors and has plenty of power with a FMF Fatty on it. Love it

      Seems like lots of people feel that way about the betas. I’ve ridden the Sherco 300 and it wasn’t for me. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Thanks for the review! Pros and cons to PDS vs. linkage - it depends on what you ride. I have both a KTM (PDS) and a GasGas (linkage). I like the linkage better at higher speeds, as it feels more planted and is more tolerant to bad setup and technique. At lower speeds the PDS feels a little more nimble, but the linkage feels like it provides better traction. In gnarly terrain, the PDS has more ground clearance, but I honestly don't find that my linkage gets caught on anything if I'm using a modern skid plate, and personally being able to dab (even at 5'11") is more important to me than the very rare occasion that I get stuck due to ride height.

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto
      @Weekendwarriorsmoto 19 днів тому

      That’s a great summary on the differences. The linkage feels better at speed or on jumps or drop offs. Nice to have the extra ground clearance of the PDS on the big rocks, but I also agree that I don’t tend to get hung up on the linkage. Thanks for watching him commenting.

      It is nice to be able to put your foot down, and for my case get your damn leg over the bike. I love the ground clearance and ease of maintenance on the xcw too, but have yet to hear anyone we ride with getting stuck on a rock b/c of the linkage. 🎉

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto

      The place we were riding is called Ben Franklin range. It’s not somewhere that we normally ride and most of the trails are double track like what you saw in the video mostly we ride single track otherwise

    I wouldn't throw a TE out of bed, but I prefer the feel and ride height of the XCw. Also, its time for shock service and while its out I pull the swingarm to lube the bearings. The PDS system is simpler and easier to work with.

    • @Weekendwarriorsmoto
      @Weekendwarriorsmoto 20 днів тому

      Mike, I agree with the simplicity of the pds for maintenance. I go back and forth on the ride height. Both have advantages.

    I came off a beta as well and do think the beta bottom end is more grunt. My new te 300 pro is awesome just feels electronic and different kind of powerband.awesome bike though .. at this point all new bikes are pretty damn good and what’s more important is just our rider skill . Hahahha
