This video chronicles te last tow days of our Boundary Waters adventure! My group camped on Lake Saganaga and the smallmouth fishing was out of this world. The last day proved to be very tough conditions but
i was determined to catch one more to finish the trip on a high note. I love this place and this video shows why.

    I just love grubs. Some of the things I like about them are, they work on pretty much every species of fish, you can fish it in almost every way, lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.

    Question you said it’s got like 40ft of line that’s awesome I don’t wanna sound like a novice but let’s says your in 5-8ft of water when you deploy the anchor and it hits the bottom will it continue to let line out and like backlash inside the hub or does it stop letting line and kind of lock in place until you crank it back up? Hope I make sense thanks

    That’s an awesome idea for the steering cables Will. Can definitely tell a difference. Getting ready to run the rudder deployment cables inside the kayak like you did. Was wondering did you use one or two cables for the rudder deployment? I was thinking using two cables might be easier installing. Im new at this so any comments would be appreciated

    I mentioned this in the unboxing video, but it looks like you still don't have the rudder installed correctly. The rudder assembly should be flush with the body of the kayak....this is a step many people miss...you have to turn the rudder FULL right and push down...this allows the assembly to drop down into its locked position. It looks like yours is still raised up a little so it not secured in place.

  • @tbone6924
    @tbone6924 9 місяців тому

    First of all, in what you showed in the video, you do not have the rudder installed properly. You have to turn it to the extreme right position so the pin will drop all the way down...the rudder assembly should be totally flush with the body of kayak - no gap. I Have owned the Pilot for several years and LOVE it...beast of a kayak. It is fast, maneuverable, tracks really well, handles rough weather, and is super stable. The negatives have been mentioned...the rod holders are ridiculous, but there are some great DIY fixes...also the rudder deployment is pretty sketchy.

    • @willdernesscalling
      @willdernesscalling Рік тому

      That’s a really good question. The reason that people mount on the front of the boat is if you fish in a lot of current. You’ll be able to cast upstream and work your bait with the current which is the direction that stream/river fish are used to seeing it come. I do fish rivers and streams but I probably spend more time on lakes. Honestly, I don’t think there’s a wrong way to mount it. It’ll work great regardless. 🎣🎣🎣
