All adventures begin at Ruby Hollow! I have guided Amish Country Tours for the past 25 years, and have enjoyed the friendship of many Amish Families... Our Cabin was actually hand built by our great Amish Friends! Travel with me (and sometimes with my partner, and the dogs!) as we discover the many trails, rivers, lakes and scenic overlooks on our journeys! We are very familiar with the hills and dales of Driftless Wisconsin, and the over 500 Amish Families that reside within the beautiful bluffs. We won't stop until we have shown you all of them!
All The Specialty Quilts!!!!!
Well, after several near sales of the Alaska Quilt, I took it over to Anna's Little Quilt Shop to sell it in the shop, hopefully as a holiday present for some very lucky loved one!!!!! The Christmas Quilt was finished and ready for pick up, and I was able to see it completed, AMAZING! After a short trip to L#ovina's Quilt Fabric Shop, Anna, Naomi and I headed out to a small town about 25 miles away, called Bangor, to deliver yet another specialty quilt with a GREAT story (will share it on the next video!) before returning to the farm, and then back to my cabin at Ruby Hollow. Hope you enjoy this one, I certainly bad a wonderful day with my favorite Amish ladies. #amishcabin #quiltshops #quilts #farmerlife #birthdayquilts #amishcountry #christmas quilts

Amazing Amish Anna! There is more to her than her quilts alone!

#amish This was an Amazing Day! I learned something exciting about Anna! I was surprised that she included me in this trip to a young mother's home to assist her with a new baby. The baby was 4 weeks old and new mother was very concerned about it being rather "listless" as it seemed to be ill. I had no idea Anna would be called to help this mother with some herbal remedies, old world medicinals...

As you all know, the Bad News was that the Alaska Quilt buyer did not take the quilt as expected. After months of following the progress of this quilt we all were astonished when it did not sell as planned. Many of you were very concerned about how Anna and the Sisters were feeling about this happening, and I promised to let you know and hear from them and to get their reactions! As is the Amis...
Bad News... The Amish "Alaska" Specialty Quilt did not sell to the Buyer
Переглядів 11 тис.Місяць тому
After months of planning and video tapping progress of the Amish Alaska Specialty Quilt, the Buyer was not 100% satisfied with the appearance of the Quilt. While this was a disappointment for everyone involved in the creation of this beauty, it is not altogether uncommon for this to happen. I took some time to think things through, talk with Amish Anna, and came to the conclusion that I would k...

I was completely amazed when I read the news that the special order Alaska quilt was complete, a month and a half ahead of schedule! Ld and I drove right over to Anna's Little Quilt Shop and were not disappointed! Anna was so excited to share her work with us, and proud to present the quilt, but first she made us a pot of coffee and chatted with us and another shopper in her shop. Please enjoy ...

When we left for a 2 week vacation to the northwoods, I thought it would be fun to visit a couple of quilt fabric shops. Looking for the "perfect" shades in fabric is a lot more difficult than I thought! Back home, I quickly visited the Swartzentruber Amish to update them on my search for fabric. Imagine my surprise then, when they asked me to find fabric for yet another quilt!!! #quiltmaking #...
Amish Specialty Quilt...in Red!!!!!!!

Do you remember the beautiful Bear Claw Quilt that Mrs. Glick, an Old Order Swartzentruber Amish, and her daughters created for me and a special quest from Georgia last year? Well, she has asked me to help her this time to find fabric for a specialty quilt she is creating! It is fashioned after a quilt pattern that is no longer available due to copyright laws. Her quilt is called Mountain Echo ...

A gorgeous day for a trip to Amish Country and the annual Labor Day Auction. Included are fruits and vegetables, annual mum and flower baskets, furniture and toys! About 100 quilts and quilt toppers were on display prior to being auctioned, but the real star of the show was at Anna's Little Quilt Shop! A quick "sneak" peek at the Alaska Quilt progress before it is prepared for quilting.

What a beautiful quilt! I suppose it’s sold by now… if not, how can I know the price?
Hello, and thank you for your interest! The quilt is $725...and is still avaliable! Size is queen 102 x 110 approximately. You may call me at 608 485 1729 for any questions
so pretty, thanks for sharing
The Alaska quilt is very beautiful. I am a 12 year quilter myself, so I understand the amount of time that goes into making it. The colors and batiks are beautiful. And the quilting is very nice. I love the feathers. What is the size and price of that quilt?
Thank you for your interest in the quilt the size is 102 by 110 approximately the cost is $725 plus shipping if you'd like to talk to me you may call 608-485-1729
As is always the case, i enjoyed your visit to Anna's Shop. I agree that the Holiday Quilt is beautiful and the recipient is certain to love it. I sure hope the Alaska quilt will sell as it is beautiful. I question if Anna and Naomi have ever come to visit your cabin. From all that you've shown us, it certainly is a lovely home and i feel Anna and Naomi know you well enough that they'd feel comfortable enough to look about and see how the English live. I'm hoping you and your husband have an enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday. God's Blessings.
Such beautiful quilting on the Alaska quilt. I have started making patchwork quilts, but my quilting is very basic on my machine. I so admire the patience and skill of these ladies. Thank you for the countryside trip. A lovely calm start to my week.
Thank you Rose, beautiful quilts! Pretty scenery!
Always enjoy your videos. The quilts are always awesome and this time the travelling with the gorgeous autumn colours. Especially with the sun on them makes it look so warm and comforting even if the winter chill is beginning to make itself known! Thank you.
Hello again, interesting clip. On the table with that baking, it looked like there were custard tarts, sprinkled with cinnamon. In South Africa the Dutch originally made what they called Milk Tarts, which were so much like that. A baked blind pastry, then filled with a milk, sugar, eggs, and cornflour and vanilla essence custard filling, which is made on the cooktop. It is sprinkled with cinnamon, left to cool and could be served either hot or cold.
Hi! You have a good eye! I would not doubt if the amish had baked something similiar to what you have described considering their ties to the Dutch and their old world lifestyle. These were the Swartzentruber Amish and they remain pretty close to the old ways. Love your comment! TY rose
There's so much to learn about the old ways since modern doctrine took over. I'm gleaning as much information as I can and made my first tincture. I've also dried stinging nettles for tea as it is so good for so much. Who knew something ouchie made you better! Watercress is also good for digestion. Hope the little one is better soon. Beautiful green star. Lovely drive with the colours changing on the trees too. Thank you.
Enjoyed all you shared ❤
😅 I❤ the Alaska 2 color quilt. It's in my "bucket list ".
What a beautiful quilt! How much is the Alaska quilt?
Susan please email me at rvchsr@yahoo.com and I will return your email with information regarding the cost of the quilt
Susan, email me at rvchsr@yahoo.com and I will give you the pricing and sizing information relative to the Alaska Quilt! And, thank you for watching my videos!!!
Is there a website? How much for the Alaska? Gorgeous. I bought an Amish quilt when I was in Minnesota. On my bed right now. I'd rather not put my email address out here for all to see but if you give me yours I will send it to you.
Rvchsr@yahoo.com. send me an email and we can begin to communicate! Thank you for your interest!!!
I was devastated when I saw the buyer had declined in the last video …. Such a beautiful quilt, so glad it’s onwards and upwards and no hurt feelings x
It is good to see that all is well about the quilt. I am sure a very appreciative buyer will soon appear. It is so interesting to hear about the lives of the Amish neighbours, and yourself. The long arm quilting machines are amazing (I watched one at a quilting shop here in the UK). However, I think there is something very special about hand sewing and hand quilting. Thank you for your videos.
How much I’m very interested it’ amazing
Patti, if you will email me at rvchsr@yahoo.com i will give you the price right away!
Gorgeous and the quilting in the borders are super. Thank you.
I am interested. Could you please tell me the price. I think it is stunning.
Yes, would you be ok providing me your email address? I willl email you right away
You can also contact me at rvchsr@yahoo.com
I love visiting Anna’s shop with you and seeing all the gorgeous quilts the ladies create. Thank you😊
Lovely posting ❤
I am absolutely shocked! This is a stunning piece and you all worked so hard on it! That’s just tragic. A policy needs to be in place for special orders that they pay a non-refundable deposit for half the cost. I did read that he asked for a full refund, that seems heartless. So a policy to protect the work and the business transaction must be implemented!
Wow! That is crazy! I got as far as buying the ruler, and looking at this beautiful piece of artwork, I really want to get started on mine! Whoever the buyer “should have been”, perhaps a bit more clear on what they where asking you to create. I don’t believe they understand the Art of quilting. It is very beautifully done and you should be very proud of your work 🤗🤗🤗
Well I wish you good luck! This is a difficult quilt to create for sure and will be quite a challenge even for the best. The buyer chose the pattern and also helped choose the colors. Unfortunately he was not happy with one of the colors in the bottom border and decided he didn't want it.
These things happen but we are sure there will be someone out there who loves this quilt and if not I already am attached LOL
I would like the blues on the edge. That's where it looks like it should end and the tan attached to the main body.
Yes I think that would be pretty as well there are so many different ways to finish this quilt and each buyer absolutely has the opportunity to input ideas of designs add color combinations thank you for taking the time to comment
@@rubyhollowadventurer The quilt is exqusite thou. Very beautiful.
@HelenWallace-q3e thank you again Helen I have some photos of the quilt on my log bed at my cabin and we'll share them with my viewers please note the bottom where the tan border is that it was designed to compliment the hardwood floor!
@rubyhollowadventurer I see... I'm not critizing. I think it's beautiful. Such precision .
@HelenWallace-q3e yes i understand Helen!
Enchanting garden, " Lovely drive as always with you, and the birds sound beautiful singing in this vast garden, Little piece of heaven on earth.💕🌿🌿🌿
Stunning quilt.
Beautiful quilts. Love the first one especially!
Thank you! 😊
It’s absolutely beautiful. How can anyone say they didn’t love it.
I made this quilt and the top took me 2 and a half months to make, although I took a month more repeating one of the blocks to surround as the border. So I would estimate the maker took 2 and a half months just to make the top let alone the time it took to quilt it. The seams of every block coordinated into the center causing a volcano ( very hard to press ). I’m sure it will catch someone’s eye and will purchase it. It’s a very famous known quilt by Edyta Sitar ( without the straight borders) if someone would help the Ladies by picturing the quilt on Etsy under the heading Alaska by Laundry Basket Quilts, Edyta Sitar I believe it would get a lot of traction and be sold quickly.
Oh thank you so much Diana this is invaluable information! The ladies work so hard on the quilt and remember all the quilting was done by hand I will feature it on Etsy as you mentioned in about 2 weeks or so and see what we can do with it I paid the ladies with my own money to make sure they were rewarded for their hard work they are such a lovely group of Amish women
@@rubyhollowadventurer oh your very welcome, I know the pattern alone was $25.00
@@rubyhollowadventurer I know the precut kit is now on the website for $219.95 that’s without those borders and there is probably 3 yards in those borders plus binding, backing and batting…… that’s probably $400.00 just to build this quilt plus the pattern cost. I wouldn’t sell it for less than $1,250.00 just my opinion. But I’m a professional Longarm Quilter……
@dianawright8334 i bought it for Anna to use, i am hoping they will make more alaska quilts! I hope to have a new video out this week, and then pist thd etsy sale......i thank you for your insights+
The quilt is beautiful. Love the colors.
All the quilts are excellent!
Hi from Casper, Wyoming. Just found your channel. First off I really enjoyed this video. That Alaska quilt is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I've quit doing commission work in any thread field. "not what I had in mind" "the green is not the right green" "I want it to be a different size, take it apart and do it again" "can't afford it now". Family doesn't do this to me so they get theirs free. They'll get my stash of finished quilts and handspun/handwove blankets and rugs in my Will. Love work can't be bought.
Can you raise money for charity by putting it up for auction! $5 a ticket and you're in!
The Alaska quilt is just stunning! I love it!
Thank you so much!
I would love to buy that beautiful quilt…am in Australia though so may cost to much to post?
Yes I believe you are correct that the quilt would cost a lot to ship
Love it
It’s absolutely gorgeous. That buyer doesn’t deserve it. Sell it to someone who will love it.
Do they quilt for someone like me I have a 108x 108 interested in how much they would charge ❤ Thank you for your time.😊
I am sure the Amish. Would quilt for you. I believe that size quilt costs between 525 and 625
You let me know how much you want for it and I will start saving money for it I think its beautiful. I'm on a fixed income and raising my granddaughter but I'm truly interested in it.
What platform are you selling this quilt on?
Well I don't have it for sale yet but I think I will offer it on Etsy or you could also send me a message that you're interested and we could start a conversation via my personal email not offered yet though but about 2 weeks
When you decide on how to go forward with the sale of the quilt, I would be interested, as well.
@sherrykeeter5098 i will have more info for you this week!
The quilt is beautiful! The Alaska quilt is on my list to sew. I’m curious. What didn’t he like about the quilt?
I am very disappointed that the person who made the special order did not purchase that beautiful quilt. I agree with the others who say that a non refundable deposit might be required if this continues since Anna & her family deserve compensation for all their time and you for your gas & travel time. I also had the opportunity to visit Levina's little fabric shop when she was open. She had a beautiful selection of fabric in such a small intimate space. She was delightful to visit with and greatly helped me with matching the colors & fabrics I needed to purchase for my upcoming quilt projects. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Rhonda... i bought the quilt myself and refunded the buyers money. Anna and her sisters are very gracious, as you know and we all were able to work it out. I will resell this beautiful quilt, i just know it! my friendship with the amish, especially Anna's family remains solid. No next time for me lol!
Those quilts are absolutely jaw droppingly beautiful. As soon as your video opened I felt such peace. The farm land with the animals and kind people is like heaven to me. I will continue to watch. Do the Amish take sewing and fabric donations?
My jaw hit the floor. Such a beautiful quilt. What an idiot.
That is a beautiful quilt and I would love to buy it when it is for sale.
Shery you will be the first person I notify that it is for sale! Probably around 11/15. Thank you!
Beautiful! My flowers don’t look like that in Oct in MN😅
That quilt was being made for the wrong person all along! The right one will receive it.
You are right Jennifer the right person will come along that will love it my buyer loved it until the last moment and then decided that the tan-colored border was not what wanted even though we had discussed it it was quite an effort by the Amish family and I'm very proud of their response to the denial
It’s a beautiful quilt. You did an amazing job.
Wow those hostas! Any here would be gobbled by slugs in no time at all! Beautiful garden. Happily foxgloves are plentiful along the hedgerows and our Devon banks - we have lots that seed themselves freely. I miss my old garden, but ooh yellow day lilies (edible!). So many plants I love in that garden. Thank you for showing the pretties and as ever, I enjoyed the ride along!
So sorry the person turned down such a stunning quilt. Maybe a policy change should be the specialty orders be paid up front or at least 50% of the cost. Love the Amish so patient and kind people. Thanks for the video and Thank Anna and company for creating a stunning quilt. I would purchase but a make my own quilts. Take Care
Gretta he actually had paid for it in full and then asked for his money back anna wanted to make things right that she was willing to give back all of his money instead. I bought the quilt.....it is just lovely
Beautiful, let that person go to Walmart
Clearly!
What a stunning work of art, in stunning colours that would surely grace any bedroom and make it look stunning, peaceful and calming. This is my first sight of your channel and i just can't believe that someone would order a speciality quilt and then get out of paying for it. Surely they agreed upon colours and the design before starting the process, which is long and painstakingly hard work on the hands. This has used valuable resources that are not cheap, plus the time and skill in the art work of making it. I really feel that when ordering or commissioning a bespoke piece of art that they should have to leave a non refundable deposit, even if it only covers the cost of the materials that have had to be sourced, these do not come free. Anna, beautiful lady, i truly am sorry that someone has refused such a stunning piece of workmanship, taking handmade to a whole new level. Your skills in the making of this beauty are truly in class of their own, in my humble opinion, I realise that you are not able to accept such compliments, but i know the hand work that goes into making items and am in total awe of the wonderful talent you have in your fingertips. Thank you for sharing it with the world, sending you crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil, Scotland
If you commission a quilt to be made, there should definitely be a non-refundable deposit to cover the cost of the materials. I can’t imagine why he wasn’t happy with that gorgeous quilt. I have the pattern and the templates for this quilt and have been acquiring fabrics to make my own. I hope I can do my version justice as you have yours. One good thing is, is that now you can take your time to admire all the hard work that was put into it. I’m sure someone will see this work of art and make an offer to purchase.
