I quit my relatively high paying job too to be more creative but honestly I regret it. I found out that I just don’t want to work.

I was juggling 5 jobs and earning more than a 1 job would usually pay in a third world country. But recently it's taken a toll in my health. I'm cutting down on my workload but I still can't afford to just quit my current gigs to be able to sustain myself and to pay for my current bills. I would love to hear any advice in terms of how to save up efficiently so I can just stick to 1 job and still be able to afford basic needs so I can focus on volunteer work and art hopefully.

I just quit my $130k Information Security and Compliance job. I onced loved what I do. Felt like my challenge was to stay one step ahead of hackers and doing what's right to protect people's sensitive personal information. The past few years security is a shit show no matter which company you work for and compliance with data protection regulations is a total lie. I spent my days in meetings discussing all the things the company needed to do to be secure and come into compliance only to hear all the reasons and self-made road blocks why they can't. I've heard every excuse imaginable. I lived in a 800 sq ft apartment for $2000 a month, drove in grid lock traffic an hour to and from work, only to listen to BS all the day long. Now I live off grid in a tiny house I built myself on my homestead and work 25 hours a week for minimum wage at a small town, non-franchise, convenience store/gas station owned by an old high school classmate. Couldn't be happier. I'm finally living my dream now.

@@Damien81ful Where I differ is that I don't even make a living wage. There has been times where my whole checks went straight for Rent. If you have been Rich or Well off your whole life you can't understand. I've been trying everything to get out of making min. wage and being poor... and I'm still not there yet. TEKTHRASH I believe first plan is $1 per item sold limited to 40 sells monthly plus shipping costs. Then the other plan is like 40 monthly for unlimited sells with other fees. But It looks promising if you have around 10k to startup with and know what you’re doing.

I have been in deep depression for close to 7 years due to unhappiness at my job. It is extremely tough to make bold moves like this gentleman, especially with young children... but it is possible. Sometime, even with great responsibilities at home, one just has to make a bold move to improve mental/physical health. What I have found is that fear is the first and greatest obstacle to over come to make positive changes in ones life. Learn to conquer fear, or at least to minimize it to a reasonable level, and the path to building a better life on ones own terms will be much easier. I wish I could share more with everyone but I have just begun my journey into determining my own life beyond corporate rule. It has been videos like this one that have help me clear the haze of depression and confusion. Thank you for sharing your life struggles and victories in this video that have indeed made a positive impact on people. Cheers

LOL I could not think of working in the corporate PC office world! Yes making money is good but how am I a Gen X surf punk going to last in an office? Lots of friends with school loan payments did this to make money and office people look down on labor workers. Funny thing is I made 2-3 times the money they did with no loan payments and be however you want without fist fighting at work. It takes a skill required trade and ability to deal with contractors that will try shady back charge tactics but is fun and has pride. I a Union Elevator/Escalator mechanic/foreman but other trades can be this way too. While taking an emergency #2 in a portable unit only closed shoulder hi but raised a few feet off the ground a group of 20 office people walk by on a rare tour. Guys tapping on girls shoulders pointing me out. As they walk by I say HELLO FOLKS HOW IS YOUR TOUR TODAY? The look on their faces went opposite.

Try doing that with a couple of kids. I've waited it out. My youngest graduates high school in about 6 months and that's that for me sitting behind a desk for the past 25 years. Colleges paid for. I'm out with little guilt. It's ME time. Selfish? You're goddamn right!!!

I'm in the same boat. I hate my job. I can't wait for my son to graduate High School and enlist in the military. As soon as he graduates, I'm selling the house and living in an RV full time. I won't care if I get laid off or perhaps I'll even quit my job.

its feasible with kids. You need chutzpah. I moved my kids from germany to the UK ( I am a solo dad ). I was never the type of person to shelve everything and wait until the kids are adult. by the time they are adult and you've sat there waiting, the energy level is no longer the same and you are in a different space as a middle aged person because there are parents that are getting older. My parents are now 61 years of age ( both ), they are doing fine and still working but i still feel like checking on them.

I think psychiatry is a form of social control to uphold and justify the unequal capitalist mode of production. Did you know psychiatrists use to label black slaves with "drapetomania" because they wanted to flee captivity in the 19th century. Today if you can't handle the stress of working for the minimum wage you get labeled with a mental illness and drugged to the eyeballs to keep you quiet while the other slaves work for nothing, or immigrants do the job. Please look up anti psychiatry on UA-cam and wake up people!

I'm on the verge of leaving my $66,000 plus job at FedEx as a Operations Manager. Dont get me wrong the pay is nice and lovely, but if I m not happy getting up doing the same thing over and over again its time to look elsewhere. I have also been waiting to transfer over to another FedEx brand thats local, and has more structure, did the interview in person already, just waiting. But I probably end of taking something else for the time being. its not about the money, its about my happiness and having a work life balance. I cant deal with working 16 plus hours a day anymore. Specially not for the upcoming busy peak season we have towards the holidays.
