Please dont mention tips ,as a hightly paid professional i find them to be insulting would you tip your accountant I'm not a food server
This guy doesn’t like money apparently. If a customer is offering tips I’m never going to say no. Especially after being in an attic for 10 hours.
Your ego prevents you from growth.
I’m just curious what program do you guys use to make estimates and take payments things like that? Thanks
@@NeverFollowTheCrowd service titan.
Guys how just add 410a without looking at the unit are utterly stupid.
Your not a installer how the hell are you putting a pan under where they have their return setup under the the air handler you would have to cut what looks like a 12 flex through the pan look it a shity design but what he did installing is the best he could do in a day change out mate be a 1/2 day change out the secondary switch and the pan switch in the drain pan in the water heater is the best that anyone could do for that setup you are also correct that cap and extended I would describe recommended.
Yes always recommend. It is open return on a stand, there is no flex on return. And this is a condo above another condo, so if there was a clogged drain and water went to other unit this condo is responsible for any repairs and money loss , by insurance (and saving a law suit ) this home owner has to have a secondary pan of some sort. You don’t have to have a metal pan , you have use that tub of liquid rubber and coat that whole closet to make a pan with a wet switch any water will set it off. In a normal home it is a recommendation but in this situation it is an insurance thing.
Remember half the country are Libtards.
Why? Because HVAC techs are hacks. The work proves it over and over.
0:48 - "I'm not saying who..." Lol.
Thanks.
You may be in the wrong business. When a customer finds out they missed warranty, there'll be hell to pay on a high dollar bill, especially if you sold the unit! LOL And yes, you could make it more expensive and tedious. It just depends on how bad you want to work. Been there, done that.
@@danomite359 it wasn’t warranty. 12 years old. I wasn’t the tech to diagnose. Just the one has to do all the work. 😂
I think the primary should have the first vent capped and the second one open. Good video brotha

@@realSamAndrew thanks for the response. I’ll will fix in future videos.
If someone does that i'll tell them if they keep up with the rude attitude they'll have a rude customer charge. They'll change their tune real quick.
Or they might run you off without paying.
i hate when people shove units into closets with no space around the unit to work at least you can get the door off and coil out through door
The music detracts I think.
@@jaygunter3828 sorry. I will fix in future videos.
My opinion, the choice of music isn't bad, just its placement. It's tough sometimes trying to make out what the subject is saying with the distraction of music constantly in the background. Music can be used in awkward silence periods, though. When there is no narration.
Stfu and go touch grass
Awesome work brother. Don't let stupid people bring you down. You can't fix stupid, but you can make it expensive and tedious. :)
Seems your an expert on stupid.
Keep cool under fire - you’ll never regret it. And keep making videos! I don’t think you need to mess with the formula, eventually more people will find your stuff. Happy Friday.

She ended up replacing the the old and dirty system. Other systems coils were cleaned and good.
Well done 👍🏽
Thank you 😁
steady money flow is in service, not all people pay attention to their systems till they stop working and they end up spending more money
I know right? I’ve offered my neighbors because they are so close, $60 per unit maintenances and they never call until a capacitor or something breaks at the most inconvenient times and in that case it’s $200 for 15 minutes, and if it’s something worse? 😬
Nice, thanks for the tip.
When we had had the orange GE TRANE COMPRESSORS THEY LASTED FOREVER
I like the old school rule of thumb way as well.😊

You need a megger. That will be the true test
Gyrolock or Swaglock fittings are the cats meow. They are capable of holding more than the copper if installed correctly. Clean the pipe like you would for silver solder. I am a instrumentation tech. If it leaked there was trash in the fitting or it was not tightened to spec. They have a gauge that you use to determine the tightness.
Looks like a mirco channel condenser
Often seen in office buildings with circulating water piping. Incremental units in drop ceiling can move heat to cooling tower. If heat pump can often move heat from one side of building to the other (to counter sun gain through glass windows). Very efficient. High pressure on low side is generally restriction in metering or overcharged system. I've worked on countless of these. If heat pump usualliy heat added to circulating water with electric hot water unit. These are used all over the US since the 70's. Very similar op to geothermal but different heat exchange system.
So train compressors are wimpy? I thought after getting away from the big old heavy Giant Orange Rotolo lock ones, they now use Copeland compressors like most everyone else? At least the ones I've seen and worked on. Has something changed?
@@7x779 they have alliance compressors in them.
@@RhodesRepair interesting, I never heard of them. Where are they made?
@@7x779 not sure where they are made. Their home office is in Louisiana.
Years ago I had one leaking out of a crack in the very bottom of the compressor, in the desert, so not a rust issue at all. It was a reciprocating compressor and I also had a few more leak where the seam was welded
Also had a couple of condensers that the dogs pissed on it in the same place for so long, it actually ate away the aluminum fins and into the copper and made it leak Then I had one couldn't find a leak for years, no sign of any oil anywhere, finally it had to get worse in the unit failed and I finally found it, it was a landscaping Pebble got stuck under the bottom of the condenser coil add rubbed through the tube. And there was absolutely zero oil it was completely dry And then another, an older York condenser, couldn't find it so after summer was over I closed the service valves to isolate the house from the condenser, pressurized both with nitrogen and wrote down the date the temperature and the pressure, and when I came back I found the condenser pressure had dropped. Unit was 30 years old so homeowner said just replace it. I strip the old one down and looked everywhere and found it was at the very bottom the Factory has the liquid line screw down to the bottom pan with a clamp, and the line was completely covered with sand and dirt so I couldn't see it, so after years and years to think vibrating with sand under it it's slowly rubbed it paper thin and that's where the leak was And again, completely dry and not one drop of oil around the leak So whether you're looking at the condenser or the evaporator coil you can't always expect or presume that they'll be oil with the leak. Sometimes there is sometimes there isn't

Nice video! I can tell I'm really gonna like your channel. I'm sure that tape was a "temporary" fix that they were gonna fix any day now 😂
What’s the story on these water source units? Is that a Florida thing? Is it fresh water?
@@TVwatcher-ic3ne I guess. It’s only in these condos built in the 50s or something. They also have split system where the condenser is in the wall pushing out hot air outside. We call them thru the wall condensers.
@@RhodesRepair that’s different. Step up from a window banger but it must be “fun” to access. I like how your videos are pretty short, but if you wanted to show-and-tell on those funky Florida units I bet people would dig it.
Most condos or small buildings use this due to space to put a condenser. Sometimes we use the heat of the condenser water to heat up other stuff to save energy.
Most buildings with 10-15 stories or higher, and limited roof space use them to not run too long line sets up the building and to not over crowd the roof top with a crap ton of condensing units. They run a bit more efficiently on the condenser side than air cooled units provided building and unit water flow is good and the tower water treatment is properly maintained.
I just came across your video. I’m a driver by trade, I tried working where I get paid by load but it’s not worth it. I needed to pull 6 to 10 loads a day just to get a decent pay check at the end of the week. It seems to me that’s where all this jobs are head too. In my opinion this will create a huge problem cause people are going to be rushing and cutting corners.
@@wicked2740 that’s exactly what happens. People try and get greedy and try to make as much in a day as possible and other people have to come fix their mess ups.
Probably where my POS trane is leaking from. Thanks.
I kinda hope that “shark bite” repair never sees 500psi 😅
@@TVwatcher-ic3ne yea it’s getting replaced soon. It is still Holding up Good. It was rated for 800psi.
Looking at that level of corrosion, I'd say it was a smart idea to test that area for leaks.
@@Jason-wc3fh yea. Sometimes it’s obvious
Electrolytic corrosion is caused by dissimilar metals in the presence of a electrolyte AKA water. I would say the paint got chipped or burned during manufacturing of the condenser. I would recommend upselling your customers on a Sacrificial Zink Clamp on the line set. This will help protect the Steel compressor casing and coils from corrosion.
Fixed quite a few leaks on compressor sidewall with #8 staybrite. Of course out of warranty
I definitely agree with hourly. I also agree with living below my means. I just got a 8.50 raise from my boss for always putting in 100% effort I follow up with clients and all my accounts are happy with me. Whenever we have emergency calls Im always willing to help. And I’m always helping the account managers with stuff outside my job description. Some people say I’m a try hard but I’m just always willing to help since they take care of me. I got injured and my boss paid me the entire time I was out im really grateful and I just live off the pay I started with before the raise.
@@isaiahkassy2615 sounds like you are doing it right. Keep up the good work. I’m 40 and trust me it gets harder on the body. Just gotta pace yourself.
@@RhodesRepair yeah I’ve slowed down a lot since the injury I learned my lesson lol. The biggest problem I’ve seen with the apprentices and journeyman I’ve worked with is they all increase their lifestyle with each pay increase they get. Only thing I did was get myself a new rifle to go hunting with and some fishing gear lol. The rest I’m just putting away in investment I figure I invest and I’m buying back time I won’t have to work OT.
@@isaiahkassy2615 that’s what I spend my money own. Check out my Outdoor Rhodes channel. I hunt and fish over there.
Thats why i recommend commercial or industrial for hourly rates… you get paid pretty darn well, and depending on where, most companies ive worked for in commercial have pretty much been chill. One to three jobs for service work, big repairs typically were a days worth of work. Easy money, less havoc and rush. I ended up working with my buddy who is a contractor, and im studying for my FL AIR A license. Moved to bumfuck nowhere and i dont have many decent opportunities around. Theres some commission based companies in residential that do hourly and partial commission which is pretty good to start. Tbh at the end of the day, your own business is the best bet if you have the personality for it
@@FrostBlueFire well spoken. I agree.
When I vacation in Florida, I always wonder how busy the HVAC guys are. I HVAC in Alabama commercial/industrial.
@@bmillwood6666 it gets busy. Sometimes 80+ hrs in one week.
They need a whole new system
My Rheem was 32 years old. I had a Home Warranty. HVAC guy said it was "improperly installed" and that's why it waz broken... Without hesitation or the least little bit of anger.. While laughing i said GTFO.😂.. No seriously, GTFO of my house. New capacitor. Worked for another 2 years
@@phironosurvivors2069 lol that’s awesome. As a technician I educate home owner and give them options. ( no matter what I would do ) it is always their chose and money. If they want to lump it by and save money I’ll do that for them. R22 system in Florida make that option a little difficult sometimes.
