Interesting to compare this live performance in 1963 with the masterclass DFD gave Matthias Rettner and Eric Schneider on the same aria in the early 80s: see ua-cam.com/video/sVAdB3nVinI/v-deo.html Endearingly, in the masterclass he enjoys himself immensely bringing out the humour of the aria. He may also have found it a refreshing change to focus on opera rather than on lieder.

There is only ONE Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and he is a miracle of perfection, and this audience truly knows what it is getting! His complete knowledge of the Italian language, and his profound analysis of the Count's persona can hardly be equaled. Mozart probably never heard is to good!
