Skywalker Roaster V2 - Touch Interface overview
The new Skywalker Roaster V2 has a touch screen interface, which is much more user friendly compared to the V1 button interface.
I have just received this roaster and have not used it much. So I am not overly familiar with all the in's and out's of the touch display as I have mainly used Artisan for my first few roasts.

Skywalker Roaster V2 - How to Connect to Artisan Scope
Переглядів 18714 днів тому
Connecting a roaster to Artisan for the first time can be a bit confusing. The Skywalker V2 Roaster uses an ASET file which can be found here drive.google.com/file/d/1MkCfzvNRWrtunqNTbZG5YjrXYaaJs282/view?usp=sharing Note: I did not make this ASET file. The following information is mainly for Apple users, it is more or less the same for Windows, but you will need to figure out which com port. T...

Many people have been asking about differences on the V1 vs the V2 Skywalker Coffee Roaster. Since I had both available to me, I wanted to make a quick video. Let me know what you think. I will post two more videos for the touch screen interface, and how to connect to Artisan. I just received this V2 roaster, so not totally familiar with the new interface.
Sanremo YOU Espresso Machine Overview
Переглядів 2,1 тис.8 місяців тому
The Sanremo YOU has been out since 2021, but with early models, the firmware had issues, the supply was quite low in the USA, so not many were seen out in the wild. At the 2024 SCA event in Chicago, they had many demo models as they have many many improvements since its launch. Here is my overview of the machine, I know it does not cover everything. Special thanks to Espresso Source for allowin...

Flat VS Conical Burrs for Espresso - The Turin Showdown
How can i get the artisan settings file?
Are those the DLC Espresso burrs that were in there initially?
Any recommendations on where to learn how to use Artisan? I've been roasting on a popcorn popper but getting a V2 soon and would like to learn Artisan.
Check out Kaleido Roasters USA and Virtual Coffee Lab youtube
Vids always on point man. Nice job.
Can artisan control the v2 roaster?
Yes artisan controls the fan, drum, heat, etc.
How did you find the artisan settings file? Did you ckntact the vendor? Do they maintain a list of files and update them regularly?
Just google search. I posted the file I found on the link in the video.
Hi! Im looking to start a small coffee cart expecting to serve around 5 kg per event. Do you have any coffee roasting machines that can keep up with volumes like that? Does the skywalker keep up with that demand? I would ideally like a 1 kg so i can start small but can potentially run multiple batches back to back to ramp up to once volumes do increase
@@StefanieContiMusic 5kg quite a bit depending upon how often your events are. Skywalker only 500g and that’s max, not really ideal. Probably take 12 roasts. Kaleido M10 can do 1000g pretty easily. So would be about 6 roasts. Kaleido night and day nicer
Nice video, fun, informative and nicely done. This helps a lot on what grind setting to use. Thank you
Thanks for the video, it looks like an improvement over V1 but IMHO it does not justify the price hike. Regarding the roasting profiles, you can link the V1 to artisan using the open source project from the home roasters forum. I roasted a fair share of kgs on the V1 using that and it's a different beast.
Not even sure what the price difference is, but the difference from phidgets and true artisan integration is night and day. Have used both. Would be well worth a few hundred bucks in my opinion. Glad the V1 is working well for you. Its a nice machine.
@portakeeper I bought mine at 360 from aliexpress. The new one is 960. I see that v1 is at 600. I don't know why the price hike in both since V1 is basically unchanged since I bought it. Either way it's a great roaster and at this price point you can't get any better IMHO
What are the other roasters that these compete with?
Not really easy to answer because its kind of in a class of its own. Its competition with stuff like the Behmor in a way, but in my opinion a lot better. The V2 is similar to Kaleido, but the Kaleido is way better. So its not easy to answer. SR800, totally different roaster. Cube? eeeh not a fan.
Thanks for getting this out so quick!
What is SV slider in Artisan?
SV = Set Value. It can be a bit confusing because you have a SV and a burner %. I use SV for my charge temp. As soon as I charge the beans, I change the SV to my drop temp, or maybe a few degrees more. All the power is controlled by burner % and fan speed.
@portakeeper Aha. Great! Thanks. I have set that slider in my Artisan setup. Had no idea what for 😂
Great video. I have the same problem. I find the pre-programs on v1 roasting too dark for my taste. Can you share a profile for artisan you are happy with for washed ethiopian? If you have one?
Thanks for this. I have the v1. Just bought it. Great info. I agree the programs roast a little too dark.
Really looking forward to these roasters!
i make espresso only and am new. should i get the sk40 or shell the extrqa money for the df64? Iwant the df54 but its sold out until the end of march and i dont want to wait
Just two totally different flavor profiles. If you want thick, less complex coffee, usually used with milk, a conical is ok. I like more complex flavors, can still use with milk or straight. The flat is better. I personally would chose the DF64 over the others.
This looks cool!
Bro the v2 come with a screen stand , it's hidden under the long pipe 😅
Tore my box apart. I’ll look again. It might be in the box with the tube. Only thing I did not fully open. Only looked inside
@EspressoOutlet the box was strangely heavy for the duct only ... that's when I realized the stand was at the bottom
I did find it. It was at the other end of the exhaust hose.
Thanks for the great video, i was looking for an in-depth tutorial.
Thank you, you saved me from a grumpy woman
Omds, why tf did i just by the regular df64 😭
Regular DF64 is great, just run it!
Just purchased mine...looking forward to it
If you mean barely unusual when you say insane then perhaps.
Please do alignment for the DF83v mine was SUPER badly aligned
Very informative. Are you venting the machine exhaust?
Will be updating some info soon. I have a ducting system. but it is not what you might think. Don't recommend connecting to the back of the roaster.
How do you like the flavor of the 64mm dlc burrs/stock vs SSP HU burrs since the burr geometry looks newrly identical?
Would be amazing to compare df64 to the new Shardor 64mm. Looks as the same just with plastic shell for only 130 bucks
not even close in comparison.
I personally like stock over HU. I think stock offer a bit more clarity which I prefer.
@@portakeeper how do you know ? Did you buy one to compare it ?
I have the DF64V with SSP Lab Sweet Burrs V3. It seems to be very forgiving for my not-always-impressive puck prep and produces delicious coffee. 👍
I would love to see they video on aeropress with the Df64v.
For my own info only.. The DF64 Gen II does not support a 3-ear portafilter holder, correct?
Correct, Portakeeper has an adapter coming soon, just have not listed.
Just came to this video and it was a great reassurance. Thank you :)
New M6 owner, here. No roasts yet. I've seen some reddits saying that I should be throwing away the first 5-10 batches because of internal lubricants and other shipping materials to burn them out. And also to season the drum with the oils from the beans. Any insight that you have would be great. 5-10 batches is such a huge waste!
5-10 is excessive. I usually do two batches with higher drop temps into second crack. Should be good to go. Can do a third if you feel more comfortable. Even that is probably a bit excessive. Can find some good seasoning beans online for pretty cheap.
@@portakeeper I ran 4 seasoning roasts. A local roaster gave me a bunch of his left over green beans, so it cost me nothing! Super nice guy! This thing is incredible. I love how my house smells after I roast a batch or two of beans
In industrial applications, 4-20mA signal is used to save cost as TC extension wire can be expensive over long runs. Not sure why it's uses in this application, especially if they're used RTD's?
Will you ever carry or review the sanremo cube?
@@tt11qj I don’t carry Sanremo so I kind of doubt it. If I get my hands on one I’d love to
I have the bambino plus (purchased 6 months from amazon) with a Baratza Encore Grinder, scale and all the bells and whistles, equipment. I also have a crema 54 mm bottomless porta filter/basket. My issue is I keep getting coffee spitting out of the bottom of porta filter all over the back of the machine and countertop when brewing single and/or double shot expresso. I tried the original porta filter that came with the machine as well, different grind size, same results. Any recommendations?
😂😂😂😂 so good
?
Small question about the DF64V. I have had mine for about a month now and never noticed this before, but is it normal to hear the motor sound quieter in the beginning then rev up to the select RPM? I figured it is normal but I have not noticed it before when turning my unit on and off? Wondering if I need to clean the burrs or something
@@Lungfishted it somewhat auto adjusts and is normal.
I have the same DF64V with SSP burr, can you please share the grind settings based on coffee..(espresso, Moka, filter, aeropress, frenchpress)
Hey, quick question what day is better? Atom 75 or mahlkonig k30? And which has more naughty flavor.
Thanks for that comparison and up-close look. Needed it.
Seriously, you can't even tamp your own coffee.
Waste of time.
Is the df64v a great choice for both espresso and pour over? I wanna get a grinder for both my V60 and brevile barista pro
I'm sure it's a great grinder, but this video is useless.
Might be an idea to plan and prepare your materials BEFORE you start filming….
How is the heat on the grinder? Have you done multiple back to back shots? And what’s the consistency?
Great video !!!
Wouldn't the taste be drastically different because of your grind size difference rather than conical vs flat, I'm assuming this based on how your pour times were different using the same espresso machine? Actual question, I'm just learning. Thx
you didn’t give it a chance, just wanted to dislike it from the off 😂
Got one of these : mine has had issues with anti vac valve and element failures at 24mths old. Good machine results wise though.
