Exploring Weem Woods, Perthshire | Dragons, Saints and Squirrels
One of the best walks around the Aberfeldy and Kenmore area is the walk behind Castle Menzies, near Weem. The Weem Forest walk is a great short walk, taking less than an hour but offers spectacular views along with points of interest dotted along the way, including St David's Well and lots of stone carvings of Dragons! - Love a good Dragon!
If you are ever in the area we can definitely recommend this one, and if you do go be sure to check out the amazing rope swing that is only about 40m off of the beaten track, its our favourite picnic spot!
We hope you enjoy the video, and are enjoying Autumn so far, our favourite season. Let us know if you have been round Weem Woods!

The Best View of Loch Tay | Sron A' Chlachain - Killin, Scotland
Переглядів 3,7 тис.4 роки тому
This has to be our new favourite view of Loch Tay! In this video we take the short, but steep, walk up to the top of the hill that overlooks Killin and Loch Tay, Sron A' Chlachain. It has to be one of the most rewarding hills to climb, even 5 minutes into our walk the view was spectacular! If you are ever in the area, and fancy a wander into the hills this is definitely a recommendation. Its no...
Faskally Woods | Pitlochry

In this video we take a wander around Faskally woods, just on the outskirts of Pitlochry. Usually we would visit when the enchanted forest is on but it is just as beautiful without the lights! It is a fairly short walk that takes in Loch Faskally, Loch Dunmore and Faskally woods. If you are in Pitlochry, or passing through Perthshire, it is definitely worth spending an hour walking around. We h...
The Birks of Aberfeldy

In this video we take a walk around the Birks of Aberfeldy. It is a great walk through ancient woodland, surrounded by steep gorges and waterfalls. It is a must do if you ever visit Aberfeldy. It is named the Birks after the Birch trees, which cover the upper part of the falls, after Robert Burns wrote a poem about this area back in 1787. We hope you enjoy the video, and hope you are all keepin...

In this video we take a wander up to the Black Spout Waterfall, on the path that takes you from Pitlochry up to the Eradour Distillery, following the Edradour Burn. There is something magical about walking among the trees at any time of the year, but in late autumn it was gorgeous! and the waterfall was as breath taking as ever! In this video we take a wander around the Pitlochry Dam and take a look at the fish ladder and the fantastic visitor centre that they have recently refurbished. The Best View Over Aberfeldy & Iron Age Hill Fort | Dun Hill | Aberfeldy

A few days ago we ventured up Dun Hill, just outside of Aberfeldy. It is a great walk and is very rewarding with stunning views all the way up, with the best being from the top. As well as the views, if you like your history, there are also the ruins of an old Iron Age Hill Fort at the summit! This was the first time that we have adventured up Dun Hill, and definitely will be doing so again in ...

Sorry, but I think you could have done so much more with this. (Too Boisterous) A quiet romantic walk with appropriate music and perhaps a poem or the Birks song in the background would have added character and atmosphere to the place. And a visit through the town would have added interest. You're a beautiful, exuberant young couple, I get it, but sometimes less is more. You missed an opportunity. Hope you return and do a remake. Thanks.

Actually, you're right about the fish ladder. There is an unbelievable one at Rogie Falls near Achterneed, in Strathpeffer. We saw salmon having to jump UP a WATERFALL! I have the most amazing videos of them doing it. We had the same sort of thing on the West Coast of Canada, but a lot easier. Usually, there's a concrete series of 'steps' that literally look like steps with long treads. The salmon have to put in the work to ensure the strongest spawn. While Pitlochry does indeed have channels to swim through to reach each next level, most ladders (even those that have large pools such as at Pitlochry) require the salmon to jump fro one 'box wall' to the next. Crazy, huh!? Loving these walks and love the information shared on each one. Thanks!

Great breakdown of the walk and the background - thank you! Can you please confirm: if you take the LEFT part, is it downhill all the way once you reach the waterfall? I'm wondering which path has the longest ascent and if they both have stairs to contend with. Thanks!

On a 31C Christmas Day here in South Australia, it’s lovely to be able to visit one of my favourite places - Scotland and more specifically, Loch Tay, where we thoroughly enjoyed a week’s stay in 2018. Thank you for making the trek up the hill so I, along with others, can enjoy a view we’d otherwise never see. Best wishes!
