    Why not use a database that can handle so much more data more efficiently for personnel as well as the venue info? Is it because the Excel spreadsheet is more accessible to more people?

    Question for you: What happens when a show gets canceled at the very last minute, say at 8:00 am on show day? Either the main singer got sick, or the entire band exploded in a free-for-all in a hotel room at 2 am? I have a feeling you have experienced something like this in your career, and was wondering if you could expound on what happens in a case like this. Of course leave out artists' names; we don't need to know that part. What does the catering vendor do, who has already cooked enough scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fresh fruit plates, and gallons of coffee for 65 people? Donate the food to a local shelter? And say they have already bought some food items for lunch and dinner, but won't have use for it anymore? (I suppose they could use it for another event.) Thanks for making these videos to let us know what goes into tour planning.

    I just watched several of your touring videos, and I had absolutely NO IDEA of the magnitude of the behind-the-scenes "administrative things" that need to happen before a band even leaves on a tour. Things such as crew names (duh), addresses, emergency contacts, birthdays, food allergies, etc. Then passports for int'l travel, catering, hotel rooms, the list goes on and on. Thank you so much for making these videos! They were an eye-opener for me.

    What’s a good price for a cheaper tuba? As a bassist, I really want to try tuba, but I can’t for school. I’m thinking about buying one to just play at home, but they’re so expensive!! I see some ranging from $5,000-10,000

    Great video. I have been playing guitar (for 45 years), and I tried to learn trumpet about 20 years ago without any result. Recently my wife (an antiques dealer) found me a vintage natural horn and a rare buicine, and I started messing around with them, and I am watching brasses' tutorials just to get a feel on the whole thing. Your video is one of the best. You seem to be a great teacher.

    Thank you for sharing. I am looking to pitch this position to my boss because it seems very interesting. I did have a couple questions: 1. When do you start advancing a show? A week out, month out? 2. Could you updated the example rider template you have in your description box (it says access denied)? 3. Do you typically have a point person who assist with visa’s? Or do you just go to that country’s website to find all the info and submit yourself? 4. If you put specific items on a rider and the venue does not have it- do you get money back or is this typical and you let it go?

    • @PAFMCo
      @PAFMCo 3 місяці тому

      Hi! Yes, these are good questions. All of these answers depend on the size of the band and the budget. 1. The technical part of the show starts to be advanced a few months out. Stage needs, light needs and audio needs are all discussed first. The hospo advance will start 1-2 months out. 2. Yes, I will need to remake this 3. When working with international festivals, they will help guide you through the requirements for that countries VISAs, as well as your booking agent who booked the show. There are also companies who can assist with this if you are booking the bands yourself. 4. You wouldn’t get money back on your rider. It is the venues job to provide the items outlined unless those items are not available in that state/country or really can not be found. I always have substitutions on deck for any items they can’t find, and if it’s a very specific brand/need that the band wants I will travel with backups. Not worth it to argue with the venue over $50 worth of snacks when there are bigger costs being negotiated.

    Enjoying your videos! Always wondered what happens behind the scenes. While the amount of tasks/list of items you have on your plate is enormous, it’s helps when u work with professionals/adults who can possess some degree of maturity and d responsibility, although they may not always be possible. 👍

    I have a professional, singer songwriter. She’s a good talent, but she can’t get along with her road manager. She’s too restrictive for her I wanna take my dog and she’s too prudish when she makes a joke about something she says Australia I’ve had to talk to my friend that is really making a big music. Do you guys live tour? She wants a little bit of freedom group managers are terrible. I don’t think they understand artists.
