This is from a 1958 American documentary called Rendezvous With Adventure. I bought it on VHS about 25 (?) years ago when I was training as a young man. A camera crew went to Japan to film all aspects of Japanese life in the Tokyo area and they made several stops along the way including Morihei Ueshiba’s Aikido Dojo. They actually interview O’Sensei and he performs a demo at one point. The man in this vid was with the camera crew and was skeptical about Aikido technique and had the opinion that a more rough and tumble approach would diffuse Tohei’s defenses based upon his earlier observations from Tohei’s demo for the program being the choreographed training approach that Japanese systems use.

Dear Dr Mark V. Wiley, I have been experiencing pulling pain on my right lower back on 17 April 2022. Since 19 April 2022, I applied your sound advice by holding my right front ankle with my right hand to lift up my leg. I then pushed this right leg towards my left from the back and count to 30 times. I repeat the above for two more sets of 30 counts. I could feel the relief of my right lower back pain. Thanks Dr Mark V. Wiley for your generosity in imparting me the science in overcoming my right lower back pain. You are of great tangible help, thanks again and have a nice day! UPDATE - Roland Isla recommend this good fma group but FMA thug sonny sison trash talk this fma group but Several witnesses @the time and place of spar (Audey Joves, Thirdy nabong and Bryan Dy were there in 2014) and on FB witnessed the Bullying Threats and Trash talk of Sonny Sison, ask them on FB-marvin mendoza (recalled that event on FMA discussion youtube and FB part1)per marvin, the spar with Jong rivero VS sison happened witnessed by people there, was not video recorded.Roland isla - on The Filipino Martial Arts Forum fb 2018,isla said sison wants to prove abenr "cannot disarm him" and also roland isla said sison's head "the headgear saved him(sison) from permanent damage."actually it damaged his brain that's why even onFMA discussion fb, sison was still threatening before sison Left or Got Kicked out of FMA discussion FB (saying things like "See no need to be Global" in conversation with Laars Harse, "bitching" comment on the True Enough fight Post, and sison said "abner can't disarm a 5 yr old" to which Vic Man of Palasan Eagles Said "Sison Left the Building" when Blade Rules was brought up (that thread was in The Filipino Martial Arts Forum FB group the post on Sparring by Pakamut GM Roiles.) but the 2014 interview on Sison does not lie. in Reddit eskrima , docholiday888 of doce pares said "sison's ass was kicked" and Richard Coley of NY witnessed on FB the argument "between two middle aged persons" (there was PEKAF event picture of sison and richard coley on FB before or after this event, Richard coley also exposed silat bully maul mornie who bullied Phomi Supawit on FB with screenshots)Torqui Dojillo- on The Filipino Martial Arts Forum fb, torqui said all sison had to do was stick his hand there till video ends,Raul Marquez said sison wants to prove point he sison cannot be disarmed but getting hacked in the process (many persons who witnessed this event recall it was blade rules agreed to)the recorder of this video,Jay ignacio, you can see him recording, had footage in color but removed video due to affiliation with Sison who actually did that same bullying pattern VS @maharlikaAWA (youtube name, of ensayo tactical kali, on youtube or fb ask him) and with his thug friend texas dude Dan arinola, arnold teaching thug aguilar the KI (aguilar protected here in PH by Tau Gamma and carlos hermanos sixto carlos, toby ramos reyes, alfred gealogo, masicampo, etc who also Threatened Raul in 2016 ask him on fb,same with bully nico d'haenen who bullied peachie, richard coley, raul in The Filipino martial arts forum fb group 2018,2019,2020. ask them on Fb.KC ice also said he is turned off by leo gaje FB posts of illegal live blade duels VS nene tortal, foronda, etc especially the 2018 christmas eve duel vs nene tortal.FMA thuggery exposed by Novus Gladius, FMA thugs are like the Gangrapers of Christine Dacera rich kids conyo who got $$ to lawyers and deny their wrongdoings ex-submission dungeon colleagues Roland isla and Daniel foronda became distant sometime 2012, Don mumbakki said mel tortal cannot move once mumbakki mount on him (this was on Filipino Warrior arts research society fb secret group invite only),Roland isla said daniel foronda do not wanna be student under mel tortal, Foronda called mel tortal "imelda" on fwars,Don mumbakki also Too machismo, said "Man Up" vs AK in FMA discussion decmber2020 THread on FB when he don mumbakki was the subject of anonymous Write Up but Don mumbakki Do not know about FMA Confidential.verify with the witnesss and proof, of course here in PH the guilty rich thugs will Not admit, will do PR damage control to protect business and image.sison's bully attitude revealed made his business Redline action page FB went down from 5 to 2.3 in the reviews, not everyperson here in PH is gullible by PR damage control.Dean franco is naive of the Rich FMA thugs here in PH like aguilar protected by Tau Gamma rich kids lawyers and carlos hermanos ask Novus Gladius (carlos hermanos sent threats to novus in 2016 ask him), the KI faction and the person in that faction that bullies other KI factions, that is KIRO of narzo, who takes thugs as students like thug alvin aguilar who slashed face of nic nielsen, witnessed by Gian villanueva (spoke to Gian) and other witnesses to other aguilar assaults with his goons on Reddit PH, aguilar protected here in PH by Tau Gamma rich kids lawyers to avoid prosecution, do not be fooled by photos of wholesome family charade as PR damage control to horrific assaults, ask grappler Karlo Sevilla of UP Diliman friend of Professor Felipe jocano, grappler Rosenberg Rosete etc. here in the PH, anybody who got $ and influential and protected by Tau Gamma rich kids frat of lawyers can escaped prosecution/cover up wrongdoing.Of course rich thugs guilty person will not admit to wrongs, they have PR officers to save image and business via "wholesome image family-photo" charade BS. like Joaquin Montes TKD bully from ateneo HS

I wonder if this is a Hakka Chinese martial art? Because if so, that would lead me to believe there is a connection between southern praying mantis, wing chun(maybe wing chun), uechi ryu, southern whooping crane and 5 ancestor kung fu. They all seem to have this tension exercise with small steps. What differs are the hand positions when thrusting out and some have longer and shorter sequences which include different attacks. None seem to have extrenous positions like Shaolin's xiao hong chuan or da Hong chuan. Although I prefer the practice of shaolin forms the Uechi ryu sanchin always appealed to me. To be able to use your fingers in unarmed combat is pretty hard. You can break your fingers easily BUT if you manage to condition them without deforming them, then you have a solid tool in your kit. Thrusts to the eyes or even using the tips if the fingers to flick or slap right around the eye sockets can bring you a tactical advantage.

This is a big dude ANYWAYS, with hands the size of bear paws! It would be easy for someone like home to break a coconut in ORDINARY conditions. I knew a big beefy biker that bartenders once in a while; he could break coconuts easily as well. ZERO training. It would have been 10x more impressive is someone HALF his size did it.

That is what I read also. If this is the style of sho shi wa (it look remarkably close to the sanchin of uechi ryu) then for once a mystery behind one of the most deadly karate styles is unraveled. I dont practice karate forms except for the sanchin from uechi and even then only the part with the finger thrusts. I might try to practice this instead.

The Exposure of Don Roley "The Circle Jerk" (Part 1 of 3) -A Cowards Way- (Takako San would not be happy with this) By Losapien Killure Before delving into this, I should warn you that it’s long (and can’t even be completely covered in a single installment). For those of you with shorter attention spans, the juicier revelations are towards the end… The phrase “rank circle-jerk” gets tossed about in martial arts fraud circles, but I’m sure not everyone really knows what it means. Let me explain, In simplest terms, a martial arts rank circle-jerk is a loose (and sometimes not so loose) instructor who have created their own “organizations” for the purpose of issuing martial arts credentials - sometimes to students, but more often to themselves - who then seek out similar organizations to “affiliate” with. This is what "Bullshit Martial Arts is all about, started by our favorite misfit, coward, Don Roley. By “affiliate” I mean BSMA, in which they trade lies, rumors, and "bully tactics" within each other’s organizations to harass and libel their online victims. Cyber-Bullying is awesome for them in that it requires zero training, effort, or knowledge but looks super impressive on a Facebook page, blog or web site. Let's face it, Roley, Lordus or anyone in their camp would never say these duragtory statements in person. (Roley actually came up with the excuse he is forbidden to challenge anyone, even after his wife has been insulted, wow) It’s a tried and true method many fraudulent, cowardly, and wanna be martial artists use to try to camouflage the fact that they have honor. This method of harrassment exploits the fact that most victims of bullying simply back down. But Roley and his group didnt count on resistance, because most just look the other way or ignore their immature and disrespectful behavior. Not here, we prefer to bring the PAIN, lol. Roley basically paid for his rank within the Bujinkan because of his visits and translation work in japan. A former US Army vet who could barely make it in his outfit and was released early. His collection of vintage Steven Hayes, Van Donk (no wonder he is jealous of them) and Ashida Kim books as well as a box of VHS tapes on Iado, Ju-Jitsu, and the “Samurai Arts” he found at a flea market. Capable of swinging a mean nun-chuck at a very young age, Roley offered training to a select group of students at various locations (parks and rec rooms) in his community of Colorado and was known for having mastered the ways of the sword and Shadow Warrior by the time he was forty. Don Roley with a little unearned rank, some undeserved adulation from a few students, a little pocket money from tuition and fees…awesome! But invariably, it ends up not being enough. Eventually, questions regarding his background (especially online where he is called out and openly mocked on "Bullshido") sparked a need and desire for increased “legitimacy” which requires even more credentials and so-called “outside recognition” for what he was doing…or at least claimed to do. In the old days, it was a bit more difficult to find fake martial artist like Roley. They were pretty much limited to the ads in magazine like Black Belt, but with the advent of the internet, there has been an explosion of these weebo wannabee,s. Most are a joke…clear and obvious attempts to use the internet to exploit the desperation of frauds and wannabees to make a quick buck, but that doesn’t stop people from joining groups like BSMA for the fake wallpaper they provide. Roley has proven his desperation in the past thru his illegally translated work. Never underestimate the vanity and/or low self-esteem of some people. Some are a bit more sophisticated and actually take some digging to get to their fraudulent cores. There are two interesting aspects to all this worth noting. One is that it seems that with some people, hanging that first paper mill certificate - and not getting immediately called out - is like a gateway drug. And Roley my friends is officially addicted. I have seen people put on elaborate displays and rituals in front of their students as they self-award this crap, and the rush of endorphins triggered by the sudden showering of congratulations and student adulation seems to have the same effect as mainlining heroin. His father and wife saw pass this charade of Roley's and where are they now? Another is that thanks to the internet and social media, the constant search for “certifications” and various affirmations lends itself to interaction with other frauds online such as the BSMA, leading to “friendships” that, in the minds of these people, can be mutually beneficial. When someone spends all their time online looking for ways to aggrandize themselves, bolster their fraudulent pedigrees as martial arts instructors and "cyber-bully" the innocent, it doesn’t take long to find other people who are doing the same thing. Call it “networking.” Many martial artists use social media for positive reasons like sharing information and ideas about training, teaching, and business. Some “martial artists” use social media to help each other find ways to feed their egos and trash talk the unsuspecting. Recently he attacked Doshi Van Donk (on the internet of course, lol) just as he has been doing with Anshu Hayes and Grandmaster Dux. Why does Japanese seniors within the Bujinkan allow this you ask? They either dont know or are embarrassed of it. Hence the reason Roley is not allowed to train in Japan any longer. Roley tried this deplorable behavior with two other senior instructors in the Bujinkan and he ran with excuses to avoid facing them (Martini is one) Most fake martial artists suck as badly at everything else as they do martial arts, and Roley is no exception. As a writer, translator and even father he leaves much to be desired. Navigating through all his bullshit often turns out to be an exercise in frustration and futility. Half-completed web sites, blogs, links to nowhere, affiliations with dead people or people and groups he has no acquaintanceship with or connection to. Roley, being the coward that he is, has it all going for him, besides the fact he moves like a pregnant yak as well. He seems to have learned much from the Japanese accept movement, balance, power and most importantly HONOR. (But he speaks Japanese) End of part 1 of 3 facebook.com/groups/171816823772343/permalink/540393350248020/
