Electro-Harmonix Superego modded + Zoom MS50G
Just a few clips of my modded EHX Superego pedal and Zoom MS50G in the effects loop. This pedal has been modded to add a kill dry footswitch and 2 backlit arcade buttons. Other than the added kill dry switch, all other functionality is the same as a regular Superego.

Yamaha Virago XV920 Cafe Racer Build Timelapse

Bits and pieces of our cafe racer build that took us way longer than it was supposed to. The build has been done for about a year and a half and I'm just getting around to posting this video now. We didn't film nearly all the work, but at some point we realized that if we spent more time working and less time worrying about making videos, we'd get things done faster. This video is for us more t...
BOSS RC-3 Loop Station Modded for Remote Control

I modded my Boss RC-3 Looper pedal so that I could use it in my rack and control it from my pedal board. I did this a while back and I no longer use a rack, but the mod is still cool though. Connection is made from pedal to remote using a standard 7 pin DIN cable. Lots of amp makers, such as Mesa Boogie use these cables for footswitch to amp connections. This is a good mod for anyone who needs ...

My cover of Joey Landreth's rad song Foregiveness. I did this for Joey's ForegiveAway thing, but I missed the "extra points for creativity" part until after I had made it. So it's pretty much just a straight up cover of that song, but it's the first song I've recorded everything on my own & it was a lot of fun doing it. Thanks Joey! #joeylandrethforgiveaway

Some sloppy clips comparing sound of a Matchless DC30R before & after swapping the stock JJ Electronic GZ34/5AR4 for a pair of Sylvania NOS 5V4 rectifier tubes. Crappy cell phone audio, but you can kind of tell the difference. Probably would be better if I had played the same clips, but oh well. What do you think of the reverb ? I've only heard and played the standard version .

      I don't have it anymore, but I always liked the reverb on it. It wasn't the best reverb I've ever heard, but it was a good one IMO. I'm a reverb always on type player but I set it with a fairly low mix. For whatever reason the reverb version has channel switching where the non-reverb version doesn't. I don't know why they do it that way, but as far as I know the 2 channels are the same on both versions. I never really used the channel switching as I was pretty well always in the EF86 channel. Great amps for sure!

    The main change in sound with a pair of 5V4 is the global voltage drop the whole amp receives . It's about 12% drop . We use this change to play 230-40 volt examples in Oz where the mains is close to 250 volts and too high for the hot biased C30 . The alternative is to change the bias resistor value to the EL84s .

    • @rockinfreakappotomus
      @rockinfreakappotomus 7 місяців тому

      This is the headlight I used, which looks like it might not be available from that same listing any longer, but most of this made in china type parts are available under multiple listings and even different brand names but using the same actual part. Headlight: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P5WFFQG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Mounting bracked & headlight bucket I bought separately on eBay. It doesn't look like they're listed anymore either, but I'd bet you can search and find the same thing. For what it's worth the titles of the listings I bought were these: Headlight bucket = 7inch Motorcycle Headlight Black Housing Cover & Bracket Round Headlamp Mount Mounting brackets = Fit For Motorcycle Headlamp Bracket Front Fork Headlight Mounting Holder Clamp If you search those titles on ebay, you'll probably find the same thing or something very similar. Good luck!

    My guy. I need a break down on that media blaster you made. Looks amazing. And how does that compressor handle air tools?

    • @rockinfreakappotomus
      @rockinfreakappotomus 8 місяців тому

      It's just a poor man's blaster made from a gatorade bottle and a cheap harbor freight air blow gun. The media was walnut shell from harbor freight. Whole thing was pretty cheap and easy to put together. I can't remember where I found the idea online, but there are probably tutorials for it out there. You basically cut a hole in the air gun nozzle facing upward and drill a tight fitting hole through the plastic bottle (something with a wide mouth opening is easier to fill) so that the nozzle can run through the bottle & gravity will let the media fall into the hole in the nozzle as you blow air through it. It takes a decent compressor to run it well. I don't even have mine anymore...I let a friend borrow it and never got it back, but IIRC it was like $5 to make, so not a big deal. I'll probably make another some day if I need one again. Good luck!

    is the AC30 much louder at all or slightly even?? Is the breakup much earlier on the 15 ?

    • @rockinfreakappotomus
      @rockinfreakappotomus 8 місяців тому

      It is a bit louder, but it's not like its twice as loud or anything. I'm not an expert, but volume/loudness perception curves are logarithmic, so somewhere in there is an explanation of why. The 15 does break up earlier than the 30, but for me was still too loud to be practical. I like them both, but I've since gotten rid of both and downsized to an AC10 for my Vox style sounds, and I like it better honestly. I gig the AC10 along side a Princeton in a dual amp setup and actually get the volume of both up to a respectable place on the dial that lets the amp breath a bit without being obnoxiously loud. With the bigger Vox amps, I had to act like a safe cracker trying to find the perfect spot on the volume dials way down low to keep the overall levels under control. The 15 was better than the 30 for that, but both were still too loud for me. The AC10 works better for me than either the AC30 or AC15 ever did, and sounds great to my ears.

    What tank, muffler and pipes did you use?

    • @rockinfreakappotomus
      @rockinfreakappotomus 7 місяців тому

      Tank is a 1978 Kawasaki KZ 400 Gas tank which I found on ebay. Had to cut out the bung and weld in a new one cause I didn't have the cap to go with it. Muffler/pipes are just what was on it when I got the bike. I think they're the stock set up with the baffles cut out, but honestly, I'm not sure on that. I had planned to fabricate a custom stainless pipe job, but never did, and I sort of liked what was on there already, so I kept that setup.

      It is from a Yamaha XJ700...don't recall exactly the year, but I think it was 1985. I think it looks much better than the virago rear wheel and it matches closer to the R6 front wheel I have.

    Two questions… 1) does the kill dry switch still work while the pedal is being bypassed? 2) would you sell another Superego modded just like this? I just saw your reverb listing and these mods fix all the problems I’ve had with the Superego.

    • @rockinfreakappotomus
      @rockinfreakappotomus 11 місяців тому

      Hey there, I got your message on reverb. RE: 1 - the kill dry switch works with pedal bypassed in the sense that it can be activated with the effect bypassed, but it does not kill the dry signal without the effect engaged. See the behavior at 2:11 in the video to see what I mean. I click the kill dry on, strum a chord, and then I engage the effect. The dry signal passes through until I engage the effect (green switch) at which point the dry signal is muted and just the effected signal is going through.

    • @rockinfreakappotomus

      It is from a Line 6 HX Effects. The superego is on one of the loops of that and I had a delay and reverb from the HX after it. Probably the dual delay and the dynamic plate reverb.
