Lionel Messi~ Football’s Greatest Dribbler
🗣️“When all is said and done, one player, in my view, stands above any player I've seen in the art of ball dribbling.
Stanley Matthews pushed the dribbling envelope across the '40s and '50s. Garrincha and Sivori took it a tad further across the late '50s to early '60s. George Best and Johan Cruyff moved that dribble envelope a bit further across the late '60s and '70s. And then Maradona took it to a level never seen before. His '86 World Cup still stands as the greatest World Cup display of dribbling to date. Ronaldo threatened to blow the back out of things across the late '90s. The speed, power, intensity of his dribble runs and the quickness of his touches were mind-blowing.
Messi took it beyond the outer limits of what appeared humanly possible.🚀
No player has gotten out of tight corners like him. Sometimes surrounded and hemmed in by up to four players, he'd shoulder drop, throw shadow feints while rooted to the spot without even touching the ball, and have defenders collapsing this way and that way before taking incredibly fast touches to escape the cul-de-sac trap. Just mind-blowing.👽
Sometimes he'd turn around to find one or two defenders right in front of him, that were behind his back that he was unaware off and with incredible Bruce Lee-like reflexes, he'd take a couple of mind-blowing fast touches and dribble through them, even throwing in a nutmeg for good measure.
No player has scored as many slalom dribble goals coming from deep zones like him.
For every Ronaldo Nazário Compostela goal, Messi appeared to be doing them at least twice a month at the height of his peak years! Undoubtedly, THEE goatlier dribbler. 🐐"

Alfredo Di Stéfano ~ The Maestro Of Total Football
Переглядів 52211 місяців тому
It was said off the 1950s footballer known as Don Alfredo Di Stéfano. That with him on the pitch. You had an extra man in every position! Such was his mastery of every positional zone on the pitch. Midfield playmaker, defensive interceptions-tackling-covering. Forward goalscoring sniper. He did the lot! In this respect. He's possibly the most complete player along with Pelé & Johan Cruyff. He w...
Diego Maradona ~ The Ultimate GOAT Of Football Tekker Skills
Переглядів 456Рік тому
Maradona remain’s, the greatest manipulator of a football I’ve ever seen. Bizarre overhead passes & crosses. Showing astonishing acrobatics & agility. Rabona crosses in zero spaces, when pressed by one, two, opposition player’s. Sombrero dinks at literally impossible angles. He was just an endless treasure chest of inventive ball manoeuvres. Only possible Pelé comes the closest, & could hold hi...
Why Messi Is Not The Goat🐐

Am a total atheist towards ANY goat narratives, of any persuasions, as they're not highly toxic towards other great players. But also to that player teammates, who without. Said any great player, could never have accomplished what they did. And likewise. The team is reliant too, on that special " difference maker " player. Never found any GOAt narrative convincing. Just pseudo subjective rabbli...
Is The Modern Football Era Of Messi & Ronaldo Better~ Than In Pelé, Best, Cruyff, Maradona, era?

My Avatar JP, pounders this question, as its something i frequently encounter, when discussing the game with the 2010s Messi & Ronaldo generation of football followers.
Diego Maradona~ The Magical Ball Conjurer

Maradona played psychedelic football. Football's equivalent to the goat rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix. The same explosion, of mind bending alterations. Jimi with bewildering elasticated trippy sounds. Diego with bwildering elasticated, trippy ball manipulations. If Diego is football's Jimi Hendrix. Pelé can be said to be its Miles Davies. The completeness of every genre. Including also, mind bend...
Cruyff vs Nuremberg 1969 ~ The Year He Became World No. 1
Переглядів 191Рік тому
1969 was the year, Cruyff became football's world's number one. This riveting European Cup performance against Nuremberg, from the 21 year old. Arguably, the best display of that season European Cup. Cruyff's, speed, high tempo game, accelerations, lightening fast close- control's, vision, creative passes. All above any player from that year. ( he plays remarkably like a modern player, playing ...
Omar Sivori ~ The 1st Maradona & Messi

Watching Omar Sivori back across the 1950s ~ 1960s. Is like watching a back to the future prototype, of his future fellow Argentinians. 1980s Diego Maradona & 2010s Lionel Messi. The same small stature of height. And the same magic wand of a left foot. All three. Genius exponents of what Argentinians call. The Gambetta. His ability to keep the ball so tight to his feet, while challenged by nume...
El Rey Of Goat Football

That the late, great, Pele, remains... The greatest football player, I've seen in my lifetime. A conviction of which, remains unshaken. He was simply. The most lavishly gifted exponent, of the sport. The player nearest, to the perfect player. The player with the least weakness, to his game. With most of the great players. I can spot a flaw. Here & there. With Pelé: It's near impossible. Because...
Johan Cruyff~The Total Football Maestro

To my mind. Not only is Johan Cruyff, the greatest European player I've ever seen. He sits comfortablely with the greatest South American quartet comprising: Alfredo Di Stéfano, Pelé, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi. Crüyff was an astonishing player. Exercising mesmeric control of matches, from anywhere & everywhere on the pitch. Controlling matches from defensive, midfield, forward, zones at will...
George Best Superstar ~ Goat Dribbling

George Best was without doubt. One of the most naturally gifted players I've ever seen. An amalgamation of speed, balance, breathtaking feints & dribbles, with an unbelievable ability to turn quickly, in hardly any space. World class with both feet. Heading prowess. Tackling prowess. Passing prowess from any feet. Just a complete player. He's right up there with the best European players. Cruyf...
Kaiser Beckenbauer ~ The 1970s Bayern Years
Переглядів 1822 роки тому
Kaiser Beckenbauer at his most imperious club plays for the 1970s, 3peat European Cup winning Bayern Munich. Beckenbauer's orchestrational playmaking from the backline & midfield. Mark him down as one of the Top 5 greatest players in my estimation. Technical adroit to play anywhere on a football field. His reading of the game impeccable. His passing, dribblling, tackling, heading interceptions,...
Diego Maradona - The Golden Boy

I made this comp to celebrate, the late great Mr. Maradona recent birthday. Maradona was arguably. The most natural ball player the game as seen. The ball seemed to be totally under his control. To manipulate every & anyway he so desired. His left foot like Merlin's magic wand; bending, curling, elevating the ball in all manners of ways. With any part of his body. From head to foot. Such was hi...
Cruyff vs West Germany ~ 1974 World Cup Final

This should have been the greatest player of 1970s football crowning moment. But the other greatest player of that decade. Beckenbauer & his team had other thoughts. Cruyff was tightly shackled by his marker Vogt, for much of the match. But occasionally, we saw flowering moments of brilliance from him. It was the two greatest national teams from those countries, featuring their two greatest pla...
