the following are purely my opinions on the matter, but as someone who has been in the rabbit hole for quite some times (since Coco's era) and now primarily watching the holostars bois, I can think of a few "reasons" why a sizable portion of hololive fans seems so hostile against them: - by association, just by being under the same brand i.e. Hololive Production, the bois are autimacially seen (by viewers) as the "closest" to the girls, and with how the hololive girls appear so lovey-dovey and affectionate to each other, they could stomach the thought that maybe the girls would be the same toward the holostars (???). - some others only care about "cute girls doing cute things" content from hololive thus anything else (like mixed gender collab) in their opinion, would be irrelavant or a waste of time for both the talents and viewers. You can see in the video with Irys and two of the superchats at 11:45, one cleary stated that they didn't like holostars to begin with, the other was "concerned" that Irys' content would "take a different direction" and that she should "take fans' feeling into account". I believe this came from a stream Irys did shortly before the Overwatch 2 match hololive vs holostars. And to be completely honest, I still don't get the "fans' feeling" that the orange supa was referring to, other than that the fans wanted nothing other than "cute girls doing cute things" stuff. "idol culture" or not, plenty of hololive girls have collabed with a male guests before, even Pekora recently got Hikakin (one of the biggest and most well known Japanese youtuber) on her stream, it was just that Hikakin was too big of a figure to ignore, and was seen as an accomplisment by Pekora. I think for the longest time, Cover (and Hololive Production) actually had no idea how to handle Holostars. They wanted to stick with the idol gimmick, but the none of the bois really pushed for the parasocial BFE (boyfriend experience) like Vox does, I guess the immense initial negative reception made it kinda hard to entertain the idea. So the bois just kinda got left to do their own thing. I will say tho, if I was an aspiring male vtuber, I'd hope to join holostars, not because I want to be close to the girls (no seriously), but because I love the brotherhood culture that the bois have built over the years. Not to mention, there seem to be solid managment at the moment.

The holostars bois are great. Also with the debut of Armis and the general decline of Luxiem other than subs count every other metric is pretty similar. I could see Stars surpassing them if Niji management doesn't get off there asses. Luxiem 3D would be a good start. Also Great video

I think the Nijisanji/Vtuber bubble has burst. Nijisanji in general was really trying to push its' advantage by dropping new waves, which at the time was a great strategy until you realise that once the covid induced vtuber boom ends, Nijisanji still has to maintain all the talents it recruited. I hate to compare people to material things, but in terms of business this move was the PR equivalent of buying a huge amount of stocks during the boom, then losing all of the value at Wall Street right after the market crash. Hololive also did what Nijisanji did, but to a much lesser degree. They were much more conservative to the point fans were even asking for a new Hololive EN generation. In hindsight, it was probably a calculated decision by Hololive's market analysts that held back the company from jumping rashly into pumping out waves like they absolutely could have.

Just past 43 minutes you mention "I'm pretty sure Hololive does stealth suspensions too". That is not correct. Sudden one week break announcements are practically non-existent proportionally comparing the two companies, and more conclusively, when one "is" for a suspension Hololive is very open about it and clarifies it is a suspension, such as Vespers suspension. Niji got super bad rep about stealth suspending precisely because Hololive was perceived as the more restrictive one yet it was Niji forcing their talents to lie on the regular.
