    This is a good sign! It means your skin barrier is restoring itself and will look gorg soon, so don’t give up! The peeling/purge is sooo disheartening but it’s worth it 👊🏽 take it from me who also struggled with this same thing 🥲

    Ugh, that sucks I'm so sorry that this happened. Dealing with acne is so difficult, and you're already putting in so much effort to fix one issue and for another one to arise....it can feel so defeating. I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in this and that you have so much courage to even post your journey because they're so educational. I'm a woman of color as well and II too experience this same reaction. Obviously speak to your dermatologist and choose what's right for you but a lot of the literature is not tailored to people of color, and what just might cause "irritation and redness" in non-melanated skin can have long-lasting effects on us (I'm not a doctor yet but a us medical student very interested in dermatology/read a lot of medical research papers). I've been playing duck duck goose with multiple vitamin A prescriptions (like tazarotene 0.1 cream, the generic non-micronized of your prescription. I remember my skin starting to peel and feeling the need to pick/peel the dead skin off. Knowing what I know now that was a huge mistake and it ended up doing more harm than good. My non-irritated skin seemed glowy and I thought I needed to peel off the skin in the irritated areas to reveal more glow, but in reality that skin is very sensitive/not ready to peel off. And any kind of aching/burning/stinging feeling is a sign of irritation and in people of color we can't afford that because iit almost 100% of the time will lead to hyperpigmentation. Light flaking is ok, but redness is not. Also very important not to pick anything. I believe I developed darker pigmentation on my temples and forehead that I'm now doing chemical peels to start to fade. I'm going a lot more gentler and slower now with tret, after realizing how easy it is to cause damage in POC. Personally, I would lay off the Arazlo until your skin is no longer sensitive and go the low and slow route that a lot of people talk about on here. I love seeing your content and I just wanted to let you know you're not alone, and that it does get better. But don't necessarily let it get too "bad" because our skin hyperpigments like a motherfu**er lol

  • @lyra2282
    @lyra2282 29 днів тому

    It's criminal that your dermatologist didn't instruct you to use the "sandwich" method with Arazlo: moisturize, give that time to absorb, then Arazlo, let it absorb, then moisturize again. Also if your skin is still sensitive, it's ok to use it less frequently, and to build up slowly. Consistency is more important than frequency when it comes to retinoids.

    • @tanarahdove
      @tanarahdove 28 днів тому

      @@lyra2282 Yeah. My dermatologist didn’t mention the sandwich method. It’s something I learned from comments like yours.

    Hey Tanarah, this video was extremely helpful as I am someone who struggles with acne as well. I dealt with acne all through highschool, my first year of college I went on accutane for 6 months, got results, life was great, then in the past 3 months my skin has gotten extremely worse. It feels like I'm breaking out everyday. Right now I use benzoyl peroxide which sorta works but not really, apparently you have to do skincare for like 6-8 weeks for results to actually show, so I guess that will come with time. Anyways, I watched a few other videos about diet, how carbs and milk act as inflammatories. I cut them out for a bit (paleo/keto diet) and I did see results, but the hardest part is consistency which can be expensive because I'm extremely broke lol, so i resorted back to eating mediocre and doing skincare. If you have the funds maybe look into that, if you've already tried it and it didn't work then I guess me typing this is pointless. Also, your dreams of modelling - don't ever let that die. Best of luck on your skincare journey I hope everything works out :)

    • @tanarahdove
      @tanarahdove 29 днів тому

      I’ve gone vegetarian and it didn’t really help. But you’re so right it’s super expensive changing your diet and doing skincare. Thank you so much for commenting😊
