My offer to purchase a 1961 mile 2019 Stingray in MI. was accepted however autotrader expected m 7:59 e to send them proof of identity, a copy of my driver's license. I do not have lifelong to protect myself from identity fraud. They also wanted me to send them $56K so they could buy the car from the seller and then sell it to me for a hefty profit. Regardless, I do not trust anything about their process, so I closed my account, and I will not pay AUTOTRADER a sales commission. NO WAY!!!

Wait a min... You're able to switch the white and amber DRL without having to open the little boxes on the headlights??!! Yooooo I need to do that, currently I'm running the amber IMO looked better than the white on my black taco, but wouldn't mind switching from time to time between amber and white without having to physically do them.

Question: How does the financing works? What if you like to buy it cash? I am afraid a lot of seller/buyers don't like to go thought some of the processes here that takes longer than going to a dealer.

My concern is that I have to pay for the car and then later pick it up. Gives the seller time to take things out of the car that were there when I test drove (manuals, wheel locks, etc) or even switch out the tires.

Great video! I am currently in the process of selling a vehicle for the first time on Autotrader. So far I agree with everything that was said. I am currently at the stage where the buyer and I agreed on price. I’ve accepted his offer. He has transferred his funds to autotrader. Today is Labor Day so I assume when the banks open tomorrow I will be notified that the funds are available and to arrange for pick up. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Also, when selling on autotrader, you cannot opt out of Private Seller Exchange. So if you have a high price car you are selling, say $60K, they stick you for $600. 1% It is kind of chicken when you have to use their service whether you want to or not.

Did the conversion kit come with the carriage pull extensions? One installer said too many extensions causes a break point due to stress on the bolts and those extension plates pulling the door higher. Any issues to date? I want to convert mine like this as well.

I dont know what the other commentor is talking about, if you have ever tried a midea inverter ac unit, you would be really surprised... I have the U shaped one thats half inside 'half outside, no heater... its pretty amazing how quiet and effortlessly it canj keep a room cool...next best thing to a mini split or a central air , just as quiet, way more economical....

I agree, fb marketplace and Craigslist scares me until I found Auto Trader!! Becuz I’ve seen sellers in the two site from sellers whose not legit 95% of the time! I betcha they would go take random cars, when I ask to take pic of the inside, idk if it’s from the same car!! But, I’m doing business with one private owner and hopefully it goes smoothly too!! I got quoted $2400 to convert to high lift on a 1 month old home from the original installers. I got 11’ ceilings. Guess what? Doing this myself. I don’t mind paying people to do some work but I am a willing able body with all the tools at hand. Can’t wait to put a lift and finish my project cars.

Autotrader used to be so much easier before this private exchange verification, but times have changed. There's no longer a simple way to buy and sell a car without jumping through identity hoops and giving autotrader all your personal information.
