CCTV Motion Detection: Why false positive are recorded (trees, animals, shadows)
We commonly see false positives (i.e. unwanted motion alerts) from perfectly innocuous and natural phenomena.
I just wanted to show what kind of things the motion detection feature on DVRs can mistake for activity in your property. They generally tend to get triggered by trees and plants on windy days, pets, or even shadows as they progress during the day.
This is just something to be mindful about when you're configuring your motion grid.

How to: Configure motion detection on your DVR

Aside from more sophisticated systems like eSIF, which use feature recognition (faces, vehicles etc.) to send alerts or create targeted footage, all modern CCTV systems include motion detection as a standard feature. This is an short tutorial on how to configure a motion detection grid using the sensitivity and threshold features on your DVR.

Using the remote viewing features of security system, you can use your phone or tablet to make live announcements. The real life application of this feature would be to notify unauthorised persons on your property that they are being monitored. In this instance, we simply used a TV connected to a DVR to make the announcement and as you can hear, it comes out fairly loud and projects well.
Client question answered: "Are CCTV cameras weatherproof?"

A customer was concerned about whether CCTV cameras are suitable for areas near saltwater. The answer is that they most certainly are, and we've installed a few around the Sydney area where saltspray is abundant. Like with any other part of your property though, regular maintenance helps extend the lifetime of your security system. Especially in saltspray areas, give your cameras a clean with w...
How to: Recycle leftover CAT5 cable as twist ties
Переглядів 5898 років тому
If you tend to have short lengths of network cable in your home or place of work, there's an easy way to put them to use instead of throwing them away: Strip the exterior insulation and use the conductive pairs as twist ties. Please don't use them as improvised ties where there's any risk of them picking up electricity though, they're still capable of conducting a charge through either end.
Sun CCTV: Security solution for a two storey office complex

We were asked to provide maximum coverage for an office right next to multiple points of ingress using a four camera setup. Using the corners, we managed to maximise each camera's field of view with minimal overlap. Today reminded me that I really want to explain to how to maximise the utility of each camera for informational purposes. We'll create another "How to:..." video in the future in ca...

Installing CCTV cameras for a large, multi-unit commercial lot in Auburn, NSW. The lot manager wanted to get real-time footage of his property from the main office and remote access (that is, viewing footage through mobile devices), so we put up cameras using a back-to-back setup that ended up providing a 180° field of view for both the interior and exterior of the warehouse (a total of almost ...
How to: Search and backup DVR footage
Переглядів 1808 років тому
One of the most common questions we get from CCTV users is how to backup and save video from a digital video recorder. For today's demonstration, we're using a HDCVI DVR. Most user interfaces on DVRs are very similar, so regardless of which system you've got installed, most of the instructions should remain valid. Hope this helps, please send us a message if you have any questions.

Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.

Think I've got it. But why would you have a section highlighted that does nothing when the system records 24 hrs? Could it be the yellow zones records as an alert only but the red zones records and beeps at the same time , is this right.?? My cameras records bugs flying passed and changes in the sunlight, very annoying

What software or hardware is this? I have POE Hikvision cameras and a hikvision dvr but it has nothing like this on its software that came with it. I would love to review motion only on grid areas I choose. Would be even better if I could even do this review on an app too if possible rather that the monitor connected to the dvr.I need to sometimes review any motion that happened in a week, but I can sit through hours as all passing cars trigger the motion. Is this software for a dvr or do I need a special dvr, and can I keep my current hikvisions cams to get this?

When I set mine up, I was able to set some of the grid to green, but now when I go back or even default it I can’t get any green boxes to show which is no motion detection. Trying to figure out how to get green boxes. They don’t show at top of screen on right click….. frustrated !

@2:30 concept of sensitivity and threshold explained. larger threshold means more rapid motion is needed to trigger the event. larger the sensitivity smaller the region camera is able to detect the motion.

Is there a way to make the motion detection show up in the playback timeline? I could have swore I saw it where you can see the continuous video, but you could see like a yellow marker area showing motion triggers

if you're watching the playback on the dvr, once you've selected your date and channel, you will find the "All, Normal, Alarm, Motion" checkboxes under the timeline. select motion so you can see your motion activated recordings

Sensitivity determines how sensitive the camera is to motion. For example, if the sensitivity is high, small amounts of motion are more likely to trigger an event. It is recommended to select a Sensitivity between 30~70. Threshold determines how much motion is required to trigger an event. If the amount of motion exceeds the threshold, an event occurs. It is recommended to select a Threshold between 10~50.

I don't think you're right about what the "threshold" setting does. You said it has to do with the rapidity of the response. I think that is wrong. I think it has to do with the amount of motion necessary. So sensitivity controls the size the object must be to trigger an event, and threshold controls how much it must move to trigger.

The output can be remotely controlled through the phone app using the volume slider. That announcement was made through the built-in speakers on a TV, a regular LCD flatscreen, so you can get even more finesse by using speakers. Thanks for the question!
