Hello UA-cam, and welcome to my channel. This channel will primarily be me uploading videos related to the Rivals of Aether and Smash Bros series. As of right now I am working on projects such as guides and character analysis videos. I am just getting started, but I hope this channel will help connect the Rivals of Aether Community; and who knows we may just pick up a few new tricks on the way. Thanks for visiting, see you in the next video!

Wrastor dair really is goated
This video is really an oasis in a desert, so much of the content around this game expects a level of experience with platform fighters and its really nice to finally find one that is approachable.
Another Banger! I can't wait to see the expert series. You have a lot of info I didn't know in this video. 😮
Oh shi 2:30 this is so helpful thank you so much I just wanted to spend the day studying frame data you saved my life
2:03 few people talking abt this new mechanic in Rivals
exactly what I was looking for!
As a beginner i have a very hard time doing jabs when someone is close to my left or right and i want to do a jab quickly on them, instead i do a dash attack, got any tips?
Good stuff. I have a question for you though. Is airdodging relatively useless outside of being an extra jump? It is either really clunky or doesnt work in hitstun. Also a lot of moves seem to linger so long that it doesnt matter. Just wanted your opinion/tips. Thanks!
Airdodging up when people are comboing you from below can be a good way to get out of that pressure, but it's not a free escape as you still have to make it back to the ground or a plat. You can also use it when recovering when people are jumping offstage to and hit you, if you time it well you can go through their option and now they need to also worry about recovering instead of hitting you. It is a valuable option, but typically it's not a get out of jail free card. Just like everything in this game it has its uses.
@ thanks for the info. Does it not work in hitstun though? I notice when im getting comboed it doesnt come out even when launched FAR away
@@requiem9167 you have to quickly tap the left stick into a direction while in tumble to escape from tumble first before you can airdodge. it's a weird mechanic that they took from melee
@ ah thats good to know. I wonder if thats why it feels like im dying when I shouldnt. Reminds me of smash 4, how you fly really slow and then die, but it doesnt look like you should have lol.
Great guide. Taught me some basics i didnt know
Good video, your music is just a little to loud!
Another amazing video from my favoutire RoA 2 youtuber making amazing guides :D
Super nice of you to say. Thanks for the support!
LETS GOOOOOO
Really good video! Concise and simple editing and doesn't waste my time. Didn't know that when having your recovery parried, you'd lose your ledge intangibility, or that you can ledgedash out of a regular ledgejump. Neat!
Great video! So, is the benefit of wavelanding that you're actionable faster than normal after landing, or is it simply getting to the ground faster?
@craptastrophe521 only getting to the ground faster. Sometimes when you jump you overshoot a platform the you have to wait until you fall back down. With wavelanding skips that need to decelerate and fall
thank you so much for explaining tilt and tap. ive been so confused for so long.
nice
We need the next video, this is a great start but I can tell you're about to get to the good stuff
working on it right now. be out soon : )
Awesome and concise!
Great video 👍
One thing I'll say about this video: if you're trying to differentiate between the directional stick and the C stick I feel like it's probably best to just say left stick and right stick. GameCube controllers are standard in a lot platform fighting game communities, but for a video like this I think your target audience is probably more likely using something like an Xbox controller so left vs right would be the better distinction.
Thanks a lot for the vid, this helps a ton, as a complete beginner to plat fighters. Could you do a video on how to interpret frame data? Checked your website, it's nice! so some guidance for us new players in that regard would be greatly appreciated Cheers!
yeah for sure. the TLDR: - startup is the window of frames before the hitbox comes out, if you see 10+4(14) that just means that there's a pre and post charge time on things like strongs - first active frame is when it actually comes out - recovery is how long before you can move after using, and landing is just if you land with this move, how long until you can move - active just means how long a thing is active, and ifyou see like 3,3,3,3 that just means it hits 4 times and each hit last 4 frames hope that clears it up a little
@@NormalPunch- Thanks!
this is really good, i would like to see an airdodge video with all the options that gives
This is a perfect beginners guide, so glad my buddy linked this to me before we played. Great job, looking forward to pt 2!
@@roslynkriegh536 thanks for the nice words, i glad it helped!
I've been using the grab macro and grabbing OoS felt hard. I forgot you could just press atk while shielding to grab. Nice reminder!
This. This is what the game needs more of. Info for the complete greenhorns. Very nicely broken down. I hope the devs feature you and your guides in some way, seems deserved.
Subbed here when under 100 subs. Great guide. Looking forward to more content.
They really should add a tutorial mode to the game ASAP, just like the one in RoA1.
yeah that would be awesome, I heard that is in the works. They DO have some character specific guides over on the Aether Studios channel they are pretty great.
i spent the first 20 minutes trying to refigure controls and completely ignored the player tag…thank you
Tbf it's an incredibly vague way they did it for ppl who never played Smash.
Will there be an advance guide ?
@axel6137 i plan on making progressively more difficult tech guides. Intermediate is next
I’ve played smash since the N64 and i’ve never learnt all of this because i always played extremely casually with friends. Blocking and rolling was pretty much the most advanced movement we did. Now i’m trying to learn to play Rivals and I’m very thankful that you explained the basics so well.
haha 1999 gang roll up. Thats where I started too
Love the guide. I haven't played a platform fighter in a while and needed to know some of the differences between this vs smash. The only thing is i wish there was some quite background music playing.
lol, yeah i was looking through the royalty free music here on youtube and it was just not the vibe i'll have some next vid
Thanks so much for this! I'm hoping we get a Wrastor 101 guide too?! There's a shortage 😉.
Will you make a video on what to do in disadvantage? It feels very different from games like Smash Ultimate
I really like this guide, i would really like something to cover the more advanced tech like wavedashing and why you would want to do it. i can do the wavedash but i dont know when or why to use it. So maybe like a 201 or something video going over some of the needed basics after we understand this
@@YourEvilTwin666 in the works
hello! thank you so much for this, from someone whos only platform fighter experience is multiversus. i have two questions if you have the time to answer them - i might be misunderstanding this but is there a way in settings to change tilt/tap attacks to be determined by button input rather than how fast youre moving the directional stick? my normal air attacks keep getting turned into heavy attacks, and i dont really have the thumb dexterity to reliably input the attack i want - are there any tips on how to change direction mid air? for example sometimes i want to quickly turn mid air and use my forward attack, but end up hitting my backward attack. or vice versa. also ronno supremacy
"is there a way in settings to change tilt/tap attacks to be determined by button input rather than how fast youre moving the directional stick?" - Yes absolutely. that's actually how I have my controls set now. There is an option called [Tap Strong], if that is set to [OFF] the control stick will only read tilts even if you tap. After that you can just assign a button to strong : ) "are there any tips on how to change direction mid air? for example sometimes i want to quickly turn mid air and use my forward attack, but end up hitting my backward attack. or vice versa." - This one is a bit yes and no, so there's no direct way to change your facing once you are already in the air, so you do need to plan a bit before going in the air. That being said, there is a pretty tough technique Ranno has in the air, where he can press back, release back, hold special (to start needle charging), then press shield to cancel needle charge. This will turn him around, it's pretty tough, but some characters do have options like that. Hope that helped! 👍
@@NormalPunch- absolute legend, this helps so much thank you :)
Wrastor side B also turns him around mid air, on or off CD. That's the only other one I know.
Pog
This is such a nice guide for us just starting, thank you
Thanks so much for this. Needed a complete beginner guide like this. Feels like every other guide on the game assumes you already have experience in smash or other platform fighters so I still felt lost watching other "beginner" guides.
This is a great explanation for a newcomer.
How’s did you get that controller overlay?
during this i was using something called Delfinovin, it basically converts your gamecube inputs into xinput and then there's an input display toggle on there that I was using
Excellent video! Making content like this is SUPER helpful for people who want to get into the game!
Definitely I've see SO many people talking about how they don't understand XYZ mechanic, a lot of it was pretty basic.
Commenting to show support! I'm so glad to see someone make a tutorial that goes over all the barebones basics, even if I'm not the target audience for it!
I appreciate that : )
Thanks so much for this guide. I watched a few guides for RoA2 but many dont cover very basic things or does it in a way that only experienced players or those coming from smash will understand (calling strongs B attacks for example) This is the most beginning guide Ive watched and I hope you keep doing more videos on the game I see you play Ranno and I wanted to play him, but its a bit technicall and has difficult recovery for me, so I relegated to Zetter to learn the basics. Ranno guide maybe next video? :D PS: if you dont know, theres an option in training that allow you to show the inputs in game
Glad it was helpful! I'd like to make character guides eventually but I'm going to do more general videos for a little bit. Ranno is the first on my list for characters tho
holy, this is what i neeeeed. Im so bad at orcane its crazy, hes so hard
Yeah the game is tough. But keep at it with some study and practice, and you'll see improvement in no time!
yeah Orcane is a ton of fun but his kit doesn’t feel very beginner friendly haha. maybe i’ll keep him as a secondary to Fleet tho :))
What kind of game cube controller do you use?
I'm just using a smash 4 controller with the official Nintendo adapter
Bless your soul bro, I've been waiting for guide videos for RoE 2 but nothing came out until today. I'm new to this game and to platformer fighting games so this vid is really helpfull.
Glad you found it helpful 😄
