    I can tell by how dirty that white pad got that it’s getting gunked up pretty badly and what looks to be pretty quickly. You want to prevent that at all costs because any dirt and I mean any tiny microscopic dirt that gets trapped in that foam pad will swirl the paint, it might not be super noticeable but it will be there. To prevent that you need to do a few things a bit better like clay barring the surface but make sure you do that correctly as you can cause damage with that as well. Also before any of that make sure your using a really damn good stripping soap. Most soaps sold as car washing soaps aren’t good stripping or decon soaps you will need one specifically made for that purpose, the reason most regular soaps aren’t good decontamination soaps is because a good decon soap will also remove any and all protection on the paint but you want that prior to polishing and then you add protection back in the end via the wax. Also not sure if you were mistaken or what but you said you were using the ceramic wax as a polish but reading the comments it seems like maybe you used a few different products. Just some advice stay away from compounds, you rarely ever need to compound and will just create more work that route then what you really need to do. A good decon wash will actually make a lot of cars look way better since most of what makes the paint look bad is contamination on the surface.

    • @dyates6380
      @dyates6380 8 місяців тому

      Thank you for all the advice. I'm on the fence as to whether to get one of these and to be honest, I have NO clue what I'm doing and would be afraid of doing damage due to my inexperience. One thing I will say is I was under the impression these buffers were used to remove the wax, but after watching a few videos I am gathering that they are actually used to APPLY the wax, and then the was is removed the old fashioned way, by a microfiber rag and elbow grease. Am I correct in that assumption? Thanks.

    • @SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs
      @SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs 8 місяців тому

      @dyates6380 you can use the electric buffers to do both. They sell really super low powered ones (typically sell for between $20-$50) and those are really only good for applying and removing wax and are so weak power wise you would literally have to try to damage the paint to do any significant damage. It's really not hard to restore a paint finish just like anything else you gotta do the research first and figure out what needs to be done in your particular case. Following a thorough decontamination procedure prior to doing any polishing or waxing (note polishing and waxing are two separate things all together) will make sure you don't run the risk of scratching the paint with dirt or debris left on the paint plus will ensure the wax bonds to the paint better and protects for longer. So you know polishing is for removing scratches, oxidation and restoring paint to its original luster while waxing is for protecting said finish. You really don't want to just wax unless your dealing with a really well meticulously maintained finish. Also these days the wax is old school technology, most synthetic protectants are way better and will last a year to multiple years vs wax lasting weeks to months. Modern day spray waxes (they still call them wax which is just confusing but really they have ceramic blended with wax in them which is what you want to look for) are the way to go because they're both easy to apply and last very long. At the very least I would do a clay bar and if your up for it a light polishing followed up by a coating of protection of some sort whether it be wax or synthetic. A good protectant you can get almost anywhere is Adam's spray graphene wax protectant. It's easy to apply and will last years but they have different grades which the difference is how long they last and how well they protect.

    • @SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs
      @SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs 8 місяців тому

      @dyates6380 also getting one of these machines will make your life way easier if your going to polish your vehicle especially if your going to wax it the old school way. At my age it's almost impossible to do wax by hand but with one of these machines I can breeze threw it in a couple hours.

      I used the yellow foam to do corrections on the paint using the compound. Stating slowly on a 3 and and then going up on speed and keeping it at 5 or 6. Then clean it then wax it and shine it with the white foam. U can't go wrong. Sometimes it's learning and getting a hang on it.
