The first thing I do upon returning home from even a short errand or appointment is run to greet my two boys (Yorkie-6yrs. and Brussels Griffon-4yrs.) everyone and everything else is secondary. In addition we have two slated times of day for playtime and countless spontaneous activities together. I did not intend to adopt my last dog. We didn't even have a bond at the time. I was fostering and she had so many issues i thought no one would adopt her and that she would end up a kill-shelter return so i adopted her. As i learned nore about her and really paid attention to her - i realized her behaviors were PTSD. I got her mental health support and our bond began to form. During a panic attack and while feeling like i was going to end my life, she laid on my lap, looked up at me with loving eyes, and licked my face. She brought me back to reality and i couldn't do it. Now our bond is super strong. In fact, we both have PTSD and I assume similar traumas. We are helping each other heal. To me this is a soul dog even though it took time for the connection to be awakekend. We get each other on a deep level. I have other dogs but we both need each other like none of the others.

I find the term "mine" works very well. It means the same as leave it, but they seem to understand they need to just forget about having it. By the way, mine are four cats that are better trained than many dogs. Now if I could only train my husband. LOL
