Glad to find your channel. We are in the same county.
Thank you very much and welcome to it! It is nice to connect with locally. What kinds of things are you growing?
Oooh I’ve been curious about these! Glad to see it in action!
Thank you for watching and commenting my friend! Unlike a lot of Greenstalk stuff, this is a good value/buget items as well. Oddly enough, I ate one of those radishes shown here last night and the plants are super healthy, even with freezing temps here in the mornings. The buffer really does make them act like a greenhouse with some air flow 😀
@ amazing! I haven’t used my Greenstalk much because I had issues with mine but if I can use these greenhouse covers that might help!
Very cool! What specific issues have you had? Was it them drying out too much, pest pressure, or?
@I just found that when watering on the top, it was hard to get the water to drip down everywhere and actually get my plants, so yeah they would dry out easily, but if I planted seeds further back closer to the holes they didn’t get light. But my issue may have been maybe I didn’t fill each tier high enough with soil so maybe the water kind of just traveled down the middle and out vs. the soil in each pocket absorbing the water. I was planning to take it apart tomorrow and add more soil to see if that helps! But that’s why I wonder if these greenhouses would help because it would build up some condensation. 🤔

Oh good to know that grow bags are good for strawberries. I’m still learning the sun patterns at my house so I like the flexibility of grow bags
That is a really smart consideration I wish I would have mentioned in this video! The one thing to keep in mind with the grow bags is that can dry out quickly during the peak of the summer. I also grew strawberries in hanging grow bags and dollar store stackers 👊🏻🍓👊🏻
@ hanging baskets/containers of strawberries?! Brilliant!
They are pretty cool, but they died last year when it hit 4 degrees. They also were difficult to keep watered enough when it was hot. The Dollar Tree stackers are still doing well overall, but the ones planted in the 5/7/15 gallon grow bags have larger, healthier plants.
Okay we might be long lost relatives... We bought and use those same sticky gnat traps! Good video! Is this 4K or Ultra HD definition? Also, regarding germinating seeds: Seeds are a lot like people. Some are just duds, some are reliable, and some are superstars. Maybe the slow-growing seedling is an under-achiever?
It is a high possibility! I believe you said you are from the PNW? Those sticky traps are great, but don’t seem to work as well when they get cold. You are totally right about the seeds. Some are great and some are duds. So far, all of the seeds I saved have been very robust at a 100% germination rate. These peppers are also now turning red after the prune and a couple of weeks, even in the same size pot. I recorded this at 1080 at 60FPS with my camcorder 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
Looked great! I plan on doing this. Maybe I missed the info in your video but how many plants do you put in a 15 gallon?
Thank you! I planted three and let one runner root into the pot. It is challenging striking a balance between keeping runners and not saturating the grow bags too much. Thank you for watching and commenting 👊🏻🍓👊🏻
@@PorchGardeningWithPassion Great info. I was thinking I might add 4 and try to ensure that I catch the runners or do what you did. Appreciate the inspiration!
I am glad I could be helpful in your decision making! 😀
Any chance those seeds were F1 hybrids from a prior year and that explains the difference between the three plants?
Good question! Nope, they are not hybrids.
how big did they get?
Hi there! They did well, but they did not get quite as larger as those in the fabric grow bag. I have a comparison video I still need to edit showing the differences. I was still able to harvest some runners off of them and those are what I used for my Indoor Strawberry video. Thank you for your comment 👊🏻🍓👊🏻
@PorchGardeningWithPassion good to hear I was debating on putting strawberries I got a few of those from the Dollar Tree as well do you think it's worth it or just to grow bags better
I got the best overall production so far with 3 plants in my 15 gallon grow bags. I have two videos of those on the channel. I should be able to tell you more this year and show the direct comparison video in a few months. Where do you live?
Wow beautiful Plants ^^ Like 17 My friend, thank you for good sharing
Thank you very much my friend! 👊🏻🌶👊🏻
I've been growing inside for a while now. I find smaller peppers do quite well bigger ones struggle a bit. Also if you have a window to put them in it helps a bit with the natural light and supplemental light. And for those of you who have cats mine keep eating the leaves here and there they are considered mildly toxic to cat so keep an eye out
Thank you very much for the tips for both myself and those watching this video. Which peppers are your favorite to grow indoors and which do you dislike growing indoors? 👊🏻🌶👊🏻
It's not that I dislike growing larger peppers they just don't grow well unless you just do 1 or 2 fruits. Most small peppers will adapt and grow ok but still you don't want to pollinate all the flowers . I take my charipita in every winter it's 4 years old now still going strong. Also cherry peppers and jalapeños. I'm in zone 7 so peppers are in for at least 4 months. I just started Jimmy n thi year not sure about how well they will do yet but seem to be growing ok
What else do you grow inside?
I've been growing lettuce inside for 10 plus years bugs and critters can't get them.i tried cherry tomatoes didn't go to good. I also tried cucumbers they also weren't happy. Don't get me wrong tho you will get a crop it's just smaller and takes a long time to ripen. Oh and I have 3 citrus that come in for the winter
I can't believe I forgot about my pineapples they come in for the winter
How far are the lights from the plants? How many plants can these lights support?
Great questions! I have the leaves about 6-8" away from the lights. Two lights (one on either side) should cover one larger plant like this (More for smaller plants) with ease and I plan to have 4ish of them with the four light setup I have currently. I ensure I have the right Lux of light on the plant using a light meter I bought from Amazon (Review coming soon to this channel). You can also download some apps for your phone to give you a rough idea too. You just have to add a little sheet of paper to tape over the camera to act as a light diffuser. Now that I think about it, I bet my growing strawberries inside video might help offer up some perspective on the light setup too, though I do need to do a complete review of those at some point soon. Here is a link to that strawberry video, if interested: ua-cam.com/video/z1Q9I4SbQXc/v-deo.html Please let me know if I answered those questions well enough to be helpful.
How are you pollenating those flowers? 🤔
Great question! I just rub my finger gently in the flower to get the pollen on the outside parts onto the tip of the flower known as the pistil. Some folks also like to use a Q-Tip or a feather to accomplish the same thing. Please let me know if that was a helpful explanation and thank you very much for your question & view 👊🏻🌶👊🏻
@ I think I know what you’re saying. You’re not taking pollen from a different flower, you’re just moving the pollen to the pistol from the same flower.
That is correct! The other process is commonly done for watermelon 🍉 You could technically do it for peppers 🌶 if you are not concerned about pollinating all of the flowers. Feel free to ask more questions 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
@ Thats nice of you. I will. Did you see my other message about the silicone based pots? They’re plant destroyers.
Thank you! I did not see your other message about the silicone based pots. They worked very well for me last year with watermelon, peppers, and basil, but I also kept them in there as little as I was able. I have two sizes above those 4" pots to put my plants into between now and when I can put them outside. Do you know why they are plant destroyers?

From my expirience peper can be grown all year around with pruning and removing some of flowers. Container size is liminting factor and amout of grow lights available. Nice to see your succesfull growth😊
Thank you so much! The pruning went well and the fruit continue to get larger and larger. I do a have a little larger pot to pot this up into, but I am on the fence until I see a reason to do so at this point. I also don’t want to risk shocking the plant. Thank you very much for the comment and for watching the full video. That really helps small channels like mine 👊🏻🌶👊🏻

Wow Lovely sharing ^^ Like 12 My friend, thank you for good sharing
Thank you so much my friend! I hope to do even better this next year 👊🏻🍉👊🏻
I cold stratified my seeds for a few months. Then wrapped them in wet paper towel, put them over top a seed warming pad. None sprouted so far I'm almost 2 weeks in. Maybe too much water.
Without seeing pics or video, it is hard for me to help diagnose why they haven't sprouted yet. It could also be that they simply need a little more time. The other consideration could be that the temperature just is not high enough, or is too high. I use this amzn.to/4fJ0ODg to help keep tight tabs on temps when starting seeds. The other thing to keep in mind is the quality/age of the seeds. The older they are, the more likely they are to have germination issues. More often than not, they just take longer. Thank you for watching and commenting! Please also keep me posted on your progress with the seed germination 😀

Hey I am from Trinidad West Indies
What should be the minimum separation distance of watermelon plants?
Thank you for the question! While these plants are performing really well currently and are already bearing fruit, it would be better to only plant two plants in this space. I only planted three because I live in a colder climate and thought one of the three would die. The other reason was to be certain there were enough male and female flowers so pollination could take place. Feel free to ask more questions and expect update videos to come soon for this 👊🏻🍉👊🏻
