HOMEMADE vs LIQUITEX | DIY Acrylic Paint Thinner | Homemade Acrylic Thinner Recipe | Airbrush Medium
Переглядів 27 тис.3 роки тому
The simple acrylic paint "thinner" recipe I prefer: 175ml (3 parts) Distilled Water 75ml (1 part) 91% isopropyl alcohol 15 drops glycerin I definitely recommend trying this homemade acrylic medium / DIY airbrush medium instead of a standard store-bought kind to see what you think. Airbrush acrylic medium doesn't have to be pricey in order to work well. In fact, I feel like this acrylic thinner ...

Thanks a bunch! Super helpful today.
I have a question does all dollar tree has sketch book to sell?
Really well explained thank you!
Thank you so much! Your a sweetheart for making this it helped me so so much.
Ur eyes make me unfocuss. God damnn it
blah blah, cheers!
i think i love yoi
thank you for explaining saturation i think i get it
Rule of thirds and Golden ratio for art are complete nonsense and useless. No master in the art history used them during creating their art works.
You didn’t actually show if your version would flow well in an airbrush. So, comparing your DIY paint thinner to an airbrush medium doesn’t make sense.
0:21 I think you meant to say “adhere” Have a great day!
You're a fabulous teacher! Thanks, Kezia : )
Adheeees 😅
I’m reading that book right now and even though I’m a bit further than a total beginner, I realize this book is more about mindset for me than technique. I tend to not be confident at all in my drawing abilities and this book, I feel is getting me there, just by shifting the mindset. She also says something about not being expected to know French when you enroll in a French class, so why should art be that way?
Amé.
This is absolutely right I recently dove into art because I just decided to focus on the process and having fun.
My anti is anti agree.
Downvoted because of the music. Tutorials are enough on their own with the voiceover. The music alienates a lot of people. There are many who will be triggered by sensory overload from the visual, voice and music. It's such a shame because it's an interesting video. If I, or someone else doesn't mention it, then video creators aren't aware of the problem and can't do something to help in future videos.
So glad to see you back posting. Hope life is treating you well.
Hey! ❤️ Yes, I have more time to create these days. Hope you are well.
Great. Thanks
awesome !
I really enjoyed your video. I also like that you mentioned that being more limited with art supplies or free supplies boosts your creativity which I completely agree with. I have a sculpture degree and felt many of my best pieces were from cheap materials and materials other students thew away or gifted to me because they saw I recycled. Your video is very refreshing especially because you don't just critisize the materials and instead find creative alternative for other things you get at the dollar store. I use the ceramic white plates for pallets which otherwise would be very expensive at an art supply store. I also look into kitchen and home supplies.
Nothing to see here!
OK! Wow, here I am half an hour later, after trying the make ugly art exercise! I tried painting the tree outside my window, which I've done before - I get overwhelmed with tree painting, but gave it a go with permission to make ugly art. And yeah, it went ugly a lot, and was uncomfortable but I reminded myself that this is the ugly art exercise, so it's Ok, and I kept going, and I finished it. I learnt stuff, like this time I was painting it as the sun went down, so I started with having a lot of white in between leaf patches but later added darks in the white areas, and that was uncomfrtable - fear that the dark would botch it up, etc. but the finished piece looks pretty nice, actually. And I agree with what you say that if I look at it after a couple days or tomorrow, it's going to look much better. Already my ugly floral looks better when I went to use my watercolour pad to start on the ugly tree exercise! thanks again, Kezia, all hail ;)
Really enjoyed this video, your presentation, voice, tone, expressions are very warm and supportive, thank you Kezia! I just got up from practising a loose floral piece and finding it looks ugly, but trying to appreciate my courage for showing up and doing that difficult thing of painting ithout reference, going with the flow, Trying to paint. But I admit I was discouraged a little, so when your video showed up on my YT page I clicked at once. I have heard of this idea of making ugly art on purpose, to loosen up, let go of expectations, but I haven't actually tried it. I want to now.
Thanks for sharing ❤🎉
Luv it
💛💫💚
My approach to abstract painting is deeply personal. I always paint my feelings with my feelings. The paintings may look busy, chaotic, cluttered but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel - a glimmer of hope and optimism. Every colour, line, shape, texture means something to me. I use these elements as a language to convey my own story. It’s never just random colours and shapes. That’s briefly how I explain my art but I also ask viewers to find their own interpretation. The one thing that I noticed is that people don’t take their time to look at art and see it a little deeper than what’s on the surface. We’re talking seconds not even minutes. That goes for the Mona Lisa too! Thank you for sharing your video.
Thank you, Kezia. I found this really useful because you described when each of the different shapes and patterns are useful to include. Very clear explanation.
So like, to me, in case of your abstract art, it would mean you tell me if certain colours carry emotional meaning to you, or textures etc. and then I look at the painting trying to see you in it
I loved this!! Haven't finished the video cause I have to leave the house but I'll come back and finish it, just had to tell you it's a great video or Ill forget to do it later.
I always look at an Art piece before I read the tag ..I prefer that the piece speaks for itself...Then the written or spoken story adds to it..I am not fond of the explanation first..that is asking us to be kind instead of honest. (not that honesty is UNkind..) There is something bigger in a connection purely from the work shown to the observer. Something that can get muddled when the story is the factor that makes the connection. For instance: Van Gogh..."Sunflowers" When I worked in London's West End, I would go to the National Gallery and I remember standing in front of that painting..It hit me hard. I laughed and cried at the same time. Later, I learned about his torment. The painting spoke it clearly...not the story... But, That is only my opinion..I see most people reading the tag then looking at the painting..They prefer to know.
Thank you! love the idea of connection. Not just to your art, but to another person! I think people enjoy a work even more when they know its backstory. That’s just my opinion, amateur artist here. 🙂
Absolutely!! Love that.
I have an experiment idea! Can you make a mixture of acrylic paint and diy medium to flow nicely from a refilled correction pen? Thanks
I’m not sure what you mean by refill correction pen… like a white out pen? Send me a link to one of you can. That experiment sounds interesting! I’d love to make a video about it.
@@KeziaCarter yep exactly like a white-out pen. I have managed to tint the original correction fluid with inks, but it is not very bright. Kinda greyish...
I'm only starting to airbrush and make my own very handy video thanks 😊
🎉
Woohoo! thanks so much!
awesome
Wow I've never seen / heard a video so chopped up, I can't take it for more than 2min.
Molly Bang's Picture This is recommended reading! What I enjoy so much about comp is that it connects all manfiestations of Gestalt, including all art. It's difficult not to think of Kandinsky's synaesthetic comparisons to sound. At that point, the question becomes not "how to guide the viewer's eye" anymore. Or, "how to convey your intention best." That's allowing a nonexistent third party in when we should be listening to our subtle responses to what we are putting down. It's hard-won discovery. Effectiveness or truthfulness seems like a better word - as soon as one leans into audience and pleasantry, it dies. Just a thought. Alchemical and hermetical symbology is graphic representation of fundamental reality. Why is the symbol of the sun/self a circle with a dot in the center, if not because the egoic and non-egoic poles of the psyche, proximity and periphery, are to be seen in relation, make a whole? What is the lemniscate if not the simplest and clearest depiction of Enantiodromia, among other things . . . Mostly thinking of Jung in this case. So yey, composition. Woohoo.
So "the centralize handling of composition" means the order or arrangement of... persons, objects, colors in a painting? Thanks.
Thanks so much for this. Your explanations are very clear. I appreciate your links to the Getty’s resources, as well.
Sooo informative thank you so much 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾‼️your awesome
Not bad, clear and useful.
You are amazing! Great content and fantastic pace. Happy that I found you this morning. Hitting subscribe, LIKE and making a comment. ...sorry, no clean jokes!
Let me guess. You're a liberal.
And this has to do with the video how?
Let me guess. You're a conservative who thinks art is only good if it looks like a classical painting.
Wonderful and clearly illustrated explanations. Thanks a lot!
As far as i know, neither glycerine, alcohol or distilled water are binders. Could you clarify how your mix binds/adheres the same as airbrush medium, please?
This is a very nice reminder. Love you don't go for perfect! Thank you.
