Spicy PUMPKIN DIP perfect fall appetizer

SPICY PUMPKIN DIP
INGREDIENTS:
4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 clove garlic, minced
One 12-ounce bottle hard cider
½ cup pure pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon Kosher salt
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Pinch of cayenne pepper
4 ounces cream cheese, cut into pieces
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese (about 12 ounces)
Chopped fresh chives, for topping
DIRECTIONS:
Cook the bacon in a medium skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until browned and crisp, about 7 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and garlic; cook, stirring, until incorporated, about 2 minutes. Whisk in the cider, pumpkin puree, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, the pie spice and cayenne until smooth.
Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 3 minutes.
3. Gradually whisk in the cream cheese and cheddar until melted and smooth, about 2 minutes. Transfer the dip to a bowl; top with the bacon and chives.
4.Serve with sliced apples or raisin-nut bread

      Roasting the wings with the vegetables, then adding to a pot of water creates a very flavorful stock for my gravy.     Tetrazzini one of my favorite comfort meals (I'm reminiscing that the school lunch ladies had a great recipe for this) Thanks for the video, straight forward, easy to follow and as always a pleasure to watch. ps: It occurred to me while watching the vid that a normal size batch is too much for me and if I save for leftovers the noodles usually lose something texturally so I'm going to freeze half the finished sauce without pasta and then later thaw, heat and cook a new batch of pasta for the reheated sauce.

    My opinion precisely. And homemade dough is so simple to make! I usually double this recipe, as I often bake 2 pies at a time.     Diane’s carrot “meatballs” recipe 1 large carrot, peeled, sliced very thin, chopped 1 ¾ cup fine breadcrumbs, divided 1 cup ricotta cheese 1 large egg ¼ cup grated pecorino romano cheese 1 large garlic clove minced ¼ tsp each salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley Directions: Blanch the carrots in boiling water for 3 minutes, drain and cool. in a medium bowl combine the carrots, ricotta cheese and ¾ cup of breadcrumbs (save the remainder for breading). Add the grated Pecorino Romano cheese and spices and parsley. Shape into golf ball size. Roll in remaining breadcrumbs. Spray with cooking oil and bake at 350 F for 15 minutes, turn, spray again and continue baking for another 15 minutes or until golden brown. Alternately, spray air fryer tray and carrot balls and air fry at 350 F for 15 minutes.

    I'm making a special trip to the store for my ingredients . Normally I use bagged Cole Slaw when I need shredded cabbage and carrots , use it in my Vegetable soup . However for this one it needs the coarser cabbage so it will still be firm . I am going to add sweet Vidalia onion to the layers ! ❤

      I’ve added the complete recipe to the description of the video but here it is for you, now. Ingredients: 4 tablespoons butter, divided ½ head shredded cabbage 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced 3 medium carrots, peeled, sliced 6 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese salt and pepper to taste ½ cup plain yogurt or sour cream ½ cup milk ½ cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon chopped sage ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg Directions: Preheat the oven to 375 F. Generously grease a medium Dutch oven or oven safe casserole dish with about 2 tablespoons of butter. Add a layer of shredded cabbage, potatoes and carrots. Press down between layers. Next add a layer of mozzarella and sprinkle of Parmesan. Salt and pepper to taste. Continue with layers of cabbage, carrots and potatoes. Dot with the remaining butter and more cheese. Season with nutmeg and chopped sage. In a separate bowl, combine the yogurt, milk and cream. Pour over the vegetables, add any remaining cheese. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, remove cover and continue to bake an additional 30 minutes or until the vegetables are soft and the top is golden brown.

      @@itsreallyme.6949 I used to live in Ohio and I remember going to Warther as a child for a school field trip. Warther’s son made each of us a tiny pair of scissors carved from wood!       @@kacystuart622 depending on your casserole dish but start with 1/2 head shredded cabbage, 3 medium carrots, 4 medium potatoes, 6 ounces shredded mozzarella, 1/3 cup grated Parmesan, salt and pepper to taste, 1/2 cup yogurt or sour cream, 1/2 cup cream and 1/2 cup milk, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg and 1 tablespoon sage.
