I was asked to come along with another tracker on this one. The dogs made quick work of this back leg shot buck. The dogs saved another one from being wasted and eaten by coyotes. I know the nighttime tracks aren't the best video, but I don't track in the daytime too much. Enjoy!

This is a good example of why it is important to use the best dogs possible to recover your trophy deer. Someone almost cost this hunter a deer of a lifetime.

The Catahoula Two-Step - Deer Tracking Dogs Recover Girl's First Buck

We teamed up with a friend for the day and ran this track for some folks needing some help. This deer was gut shot but blood trailed too soon. To make things worse, they took their coonhound/farm dog with them and it ended up chasing the deer for over half a mile. We came in and cleaned up the mess and was able to get the girl her first deer.

I took the ol'red dogs out for this late-night gut shot deer and found him around 300 yards through a cut-over. Not many of them are this easy and the dogs made short work of it.

On this track we went to assist a hunter and another tracker as we attempted to put the brakes on this buck. The dogs made quick work of it and had him stopped within a few minutes.

Dogs got a good nose..... sorry that the coyotes got to him first. They don't waste anytime at all
Please understand. That deer was badly wounded. Dogs don’t catch that quickly any other way. No hunter likes this situation. But that deer would have continued getting up in front of the men tracking. Probably not been recovered and suffered along time.
That’s outstanding!!
Hey bud I'm looking for a young dog. If you know of anything let me know. Thanks
How many layers of Kevlar is that?
@@JerradBridges it was just nylon. It didn’t work good anyways.
Oh brilliant. What camera is used for this footage? I'm looking at the insta 360 to put on my Hound
@@myhounddog GoPro 8
Great video! When initially training how did you apply the gland to a mock track?
@@josephdimaggio28 I used deer hooves from deer that ran a little ways before they died. You can also scrape wax out of the interdigital glad with a key or screwdriver.
Ok. I don’t have the tracking shoes like I see people use. Is there another way to put the sent on the ground?
Man, that looked cold as ice 😂
This just got me fired up for tracking season. My Catahoulas just had some pups. If I can’t get rid of all of them I just might have to keep one. Nothing like training a dog to track a deer. Gotta love it!
That dogs eye view is awesome
Every deer when wounded seems to run to water
Absolutely love the dog cam. Awesome work.
Interesting, I trained my dachound pup with deer legs cut off roadkill, let her chew them up till nothing left but bone. She's found a bunch of deer for us, sure beats crawling along looking for blood like we did before I picked her up from the pound!
Yessir!!!! Are y'all in Georgia?
@@shaney3116 No, I’m in north Alabama but I’m not opposed to slipping over to GA to get one before our season starts here.
This is total BS, deer was no where near mortally wounded, this was a deer hunt with dogs.
You’re ignorant
That deer had extremely clear injuries. If they didn’t step in the deer would 100% just suffer. Be thankful for the work these types of communities - large-scale or not - provide for hunters everywhere, rather than posting ignorant & closed-minded comments.
Please get out of your grandma’s basement
This is by far the most unsportsman like behavior. I’ve hunted my life and I’m sorry but this has nothing to do with tracking. It’s about this dude wanting to get his. It’s weird and nothing is right about it.
Love your videos, thanks for sharing 👍
Another awesome job, can't wait for the season to open in south Mississippi, thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome job, loved the video, thanks for sharing 👍
Good dogs, hunted with one, when you get a deer this dog got possessive. It was funny, he tried to nip me but I was faster.
Do you normally help drag out in your tracks? I find myself dragging unless I got tracks stacked up on me that day
@@cootersoutdoorenterprise1010 Yes I do if they need me. If there is a few capable men then I go last. 😂
Keep em coming this year love the gopro dog view hit a couple leopard Catahoula myself
Looks alot like the north Georgia mountains that we track in similar terrain
@@cootersoutdoorenterprise1010 yeah Northwest AL isn’t too rough. Parts of Northeast AL is pretty rough.
Looking forward to this season. My first as a tracker
Best of luck to you!!
Well there's plenty of Gomers out there like bowmar who take ETHICAL 150 yard BOW SHOTS so ya will be busy
Great work brother
How old was that track.? The dogs didn’t seem to get excited on it at all.
Seems as though the female dog likes to hang close to you.
The dog cam adds a whole new viewing experience. 👍🏼
Great videos, great dogs. Really appreciate you posting, helps me a lot working with my girl.
Jam up fellas!
This is amazing!!! Great work on the footage and the dogs + dispatch. This is the definition of a video you can’t look away from, amazing work again!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Maybe this season I’ll video a few more.
How old of a track can they follow?
I usually get a couple every year that are a couple days old. It really depends on conditions but a 24hr old track really isn’t that difficult for most experienced dogs.
@@CatahoulaTwoStep I’m getting a male here pretty soon I’ll be running him as a solo dog so ready for the ride he will be at a trainer come August and hopefully ready to roll by October he’s 14 weeks old now
Aonde tem a câmera que tá no cão pra venda?
Good boy
would you be able to do this with one dog? I have a mix catahoula, she doesnt have the confidence to do risky things by her self. Wondering if a pure bred catahoula would get the work done solo. I use mine as a decoy coyote dog. Thats about all she does. she wont work them back and forth. She does just fine tracking deer on leash.
Yes sometimes I track with just one dog if I am close to roads or on small properties. You can get their drive up in a few different ways. Trapping a coon and letting them bay it in the trap is a good way to start and builds confidence as well.
Great job and another happy hunter, thanks for sharing 👍
Man that’s a great track good job 👍👍
Doesn't get any better than that, great job team 👍.
That dog can cover some ground, great track and another happy hunter 👍
Awesome job and another happy hunter 👍
Like im not in anyway degrading im just genuinely curious as to why this is ok? I wanna know
The deer is literally petrified for its life…. Im confused??
Im confused why do we do this??
The buck was shot and wounded and these fellas and there dogs retrieved it .
I bet sometimes you wish you had a lariat!
Whew! Those pups really worked that one!
Another great service to the hunter! Would of just been squirrels and buzzard/coyote feast. Well done man!
Another fine service from your pups! Great track, you really got a good handle on 'em! Thanks for sharing another great recovery, this one was a stretch!
Thanks a ton!
A heck of a service you are doing! There was a bit of a switch in terrain, the thick young pines would of made it real tough eyeball'n, good pups!
Man! Those pups really got it done! Seems to me you really got 'em trained well and a good responsive handle on them. I do cow dogs but this is my first taste of the catahoula wad on deer! Great trail dog camera footage. Quite an experience for me, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks!
What kind of cowdogs you got?
