Until there is some type of definitive proof of whether Brushy was The Kid, we will have to rely on the preponderance of evidence. 1st off in Brushy’s corner is the fact that we know he couldn’t have been Oliver Roberts. There are photos of younger Brushy proving he was older than Oliver. Beyond that if you don’t want to believe Brushy was the Kid, then you have to write off a great deal as coincidence. Very similar facial features, same height, same bullet wounds, detailed knowledge of the times, people, places related to The Kid. People that knew the Kid saying he was him, people that knew him after he was supposedly killed saying he was the Kid, etc., etc. The evidence that Garrett killed him is very weak at best. At what point do the number of coincidences become absurd to consider as coincidences? Maybe some points in the counter argument need to be looked at closer.

Didn’t Billy the kid have a brother, and if he had children,couldn’t their dna be tested to see if it matches Brushy Bills. I agree with you , I believe Brushy was Billy. Apparently Brushy / Billy was married. There is no information on this. I’m curious to know more about his wife. There couldn’t have been any children from this marriage, at least I have never heard of any.

There is an old book called "Journey of the Flame." It relates the story of an old Mexican's life told by him on the occasion of his 100th birthday. It contains a description of a pack trip the old man made as a child of 11 from near San Jose del Cabo to San Francisco in 1810. In it he tells the story of Iturbe sailing into the inland sea. Iturbe thought he had found the entrance to the mythical passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific. That's why he chose to sail up the Colorado into the inland sea. He said a thunderstorm had caused a large landslide where the channel opened up into the inland sea and that blocked the ship's passage back to the ocean. They sailed around for weeks looking for another passage until the ship ran aground in the receeding lake. They then packed what they could and walked out. Years ago an old timer told me a friend of his had found the ship. A strong wind from an unusual direction had uncovered the stern. He said the first thing his friend did was search the holds. They were empty. He then said his friend disassembled the stern and used the wood to build a cabin. He said he'd show me the cabin, but the chance to see it never happened.

I am Swedish and have no problem to understand the transcription of the text of the stone. It's a mix of Swedish and Norwegian. But I can't read the transcription of any genuine runestone. Therefore it can't be from 1362.
