You're absolutely right-chickens are the ultimate opportunistic omnivores! Their ability to eat just about anything is both fascinating and a little surprising. Watching a bantam hen tackle a frog twice the size of her head must have been quite the sight! Chickens truly don’t let an opportunity for a meal pass them by.

Absolutely true! Mine will 'stand-by' as I do the spring cleanup of their coop litter (for that years garden fertilizer). Mice love burrowing under it to raise babies and be nearby a reliable food source of chicken scratch. As I bust open a new tunnel, or nest, it's a mad chicken dash to catch the fleeing mice...😂🤣

Yes, chickens are much more eclectic in their diet than this would have you believe. Chickens will not only eat meat, they will actively hunt small rodents, reptiles, and amphibians.

That’s such a funny and relatable story! Chickens are true omnivores, and while they love seeds, grains, and greens, they won’t pass up a good protein source like meat scraps.

Great observation! Serama chickens do have that proud, upright posture, similar to fancy pigeon breeds like the Pouter pigeons. It’s amazing how both birds carry themselves with such confidence and charm!
