I’m 75 yrs. Old and from Louisiana. Back in late 1950s. We were so poor our house looked like a slave house. White people had all the jobs, especially the service jobs. Why they have so much hate in their heart toward Black people I will never know. Maybe one day they feel we may do to them what they did to us. You reap what you sow….China white man. Ha, ha

Missouri City Texas is within the Houston metropolitan area, along with the Sugarland, Woodlands etc. Most people would equate it with Houston and will be more apt to recognize the latter than Missouri, City. Hope you enjoyed the content! Thanks for watching! 🙂

@@ReginaPerkinsShow Very nice video thank you, and I have very mixed feeling about these historical landmarks. I love seeing anything antique and historical, but the exploitation of slaves specially in this area can only give you grief and sadness. I lived here 20 years and the weather is horrendous here during the summer. You go out for 30 minutes and you are covered in sweat. I cannot imagine a single work day as a slave in Sienna Plantation. This things need to be remembered.

“We were less than animals”, “People don’t do animals like that” When you speak of debt keeping them in bondage reminds me of the credit card system today that’s why I never used them. Thank you! for sharing. 🥺

When I was about 12yrs old I visited there often. Stayed in an old house next to the mill and old boilers. It was on the corner. In front of that mill was a little building and inside it was all the hand drawn maps going back to when it started in the early 1800s. Had all the old buildings and all the graveyard locations. Including the locations of un marked.

I'm not of African origin (I'm Latin American) but I find it so disturbing and eerie to look at the ruins of places where slaves once worked themselves to death. I live in Sienna, which was Sienna Plantation, and I've been to the three cauldrons, the crushing machine, and the bell that's right next to them. I find it so painful to watch these things. It brings great sadness to see that some people grew up in places like this and at about age 5 or so, they realized that they were prisoners for life, and at any moment could have a member of their family sold away to never be seen again. I can't imagine raising a child and not knowing when they would come for that child to be sold away. It's just horrific to think about it. I can't imagine what people of African origin feel around these sites.

I believe the significance of the animals was that it was most likely the slaves who tended the animals, in all ways from birth to slaughter. I am sure it is the only true love they felt interacting with animals and their families

I recently went to Little Rock, Arkansas, I went the back way of Mississippi's Sharkey and Issaquena counties. when I tell you there were miles and miles of slave plantations that are still being worked with machinery by the previous owners. the plantation houses were still there and people actually still live in them with the name of the plantation still on the gate as you pass by. Also look up Ms. Harrell who is doing research on Peneo slavery in the 20th century and how slavery actually didn't end in 1865. The movie "Alice" was based on actually events. People are still living on slave owners' property as I speak in some "isolated" rural towns.

I’m in Louisiana and they had slave quarters down the street by my house. They built a police station on it then wrecked it all when they saw my cousins and I in them. They still had cots, kids toys, and other things in them. We ran for our lives. The week after that or so it was bulldozed down.

That museum/store looks just like the inside of cracker barrel restaurants...makes me wonder if there is a subliminal meaning of the cracker barrel decor. They also have portraits of black people on the walls in the restaurant..so looking at this video has raised an eyebrow and suspicion for me about cracker barrel now...

Everything you see was built and maintained by your people. All the old equipment was ran and maintained. The odd trees were probably planted by your people. The berry plants were probably the slaves garden . America was built by your people. Look closely at the trees- I bet there’s sighs of shackles. The animals are probably a black flash of what the slave’s cared for and cooked . That body of water were probably filled with gators When you see all those huge old beautiful homes with the amazing craftsmanship? Those were built by slaves.

This is interesting history to see but the camera keeps pointing to the ground at times while you are trying to show is the slave quarters. Sometimes this happens to me when I film. Make sure you are looking through the camera abd not above it that can cause the camera to point downward by accident. Thank you for showing us this tour. I truly appreciate it.
